Do you remember Steve Austin's last match? That's how The Undertaker needs to go out.. He represents old school wrestling. He doesn't need a giant good-bye and a parade with balloons and kazoos. The Undertaker will go out quietly. That's my belief anyways. Everybody knew at that time going into the match, though, that was going to be Austin's last match. With Undertaker, we've literally been left wondering every year for the past five or so Wrestlemanias if this was going to be his last match. Nobody is saying he needs a huge goodbye party, but something like the ending to his HIAC match with HBK and Triple H was a fitting way to end his career. Something small, but meaningful like that. I dunno man.. I don't remember anybody knowing WM 19 was going to be Austin's last match at the time.

Sting also looked like an old man last night too. Sting can just get his HOF award now and keep that Legends deal he signed and never step foot into a WWE ring again. I feel the same way about Nash in 2011.

I prefer to remember him from his WWF days as Diesel and his NWO days, not his days of trying to climb a ladder with bad knees.

The thought of Kevin Nash in a ladder match period is hilarious...
Especially in 2011.

Or sure the IWC doesn't want Sting to wrestle, but when he does wrestle everybody will be like.

The fact that the mere mention of it causes people to break out their quad jokes is sad. Go watch the damn match. Its actually damn good.

I hope it is Sting vs HHH at Wrestlemania. I don't want Taker vs Sting, Taker lost the streak and he's happy living and enjoying his life now. I don't want Taker to come back and wreslte at Wrestlemania again...

I would rather have Sting face Triple H at the rumble, and leave Maina open for a match with The Rock. The Rock and Triple H one on one at WM would be amazing.

There aren't any. Anybody that ever really meant anything in global/mainstream wrestling since the rock & wrestling explosion has done it now. This is evident from one of the first replies being AJ Styles, who is essentially an utter nobody. First time in a while I'll disagree with you. There are a TON of Japanese stars who are basically gods over there who never worked for WWE. Key words in bold. If any of those Japanese stars ever turned up in WWE, they'd mean about as much to the average viewer as Bo Dallas, Big E, Adam Rose, Daniel Bryan, Mason Ryan, Wade Barrett, MVP etc did when they first appeared... Very little. If Misawa had ever turned up in WWE, people wouldn't have been calling their friends shouting "DUDE, MISAWA IS IN WWE!" They'd have just been like "Who is the fat guy helping Tajiri?" As someone said above, the era of big star debuts in WWE -- a new signing that most viewers recognise and are shocked by -- is over now. Wrestling hasn't had the platform to produce anyone in that category in almost fifteen years. These days, whenever anyone new turns up in WWE, it's someone that nobody cares about (or has even heard of) unless they're on forums like this. Sting is the lone exception to that, because he's from The Before Time.

i mean, OP asked: "Now that is changing, who would you say is the biggest currently active name to have never been part of the WWE? having a few dark matches, TO ME, is not being "part of the wwe". i do understand the argument being about the statement about sting "never stepping foot in a wwe ring". Technically speaking he did step in a WWE ring during the last Nitro, since Vince owned it at that point. Very true. A lot of people don't realize that fact

I honestly do think this is AJ Styles. What talent out there floating around is a bigger name in the US that doesn't work for WWE? Aside from guys like Jeff Hardy and Angle, who have obviously worked for WWE, I really can't name a bigger name in wrestling I don't think. AJ was the franchise of the number 2 show in North America for a decade, and a massive reason they even survived. Just because WWE pretends that TNA doesn't exist, doesn't mean everyone else does. I think he would get a pretty great reaction if they were to bring him in with a splash.
I would still love to see Bobby Roode and/or A Double make it onto WWE TV. Any of those guys would be awesome. Obviously, they don't have Sting like impact, anywhere near it, but if they bring them in and WWE makes a big deal out of it then so will the audience. The fans that know them are going to give them that reaction regardless. Survivor Series provided that feeling that anything can happen in WWE again. Sure, it was the last great trick they had hidden up their sleeve from the Monday Night Wars but WWE would be far more exciting if they tried to attain that reaction from their fans more often.

Yeah, but Sting is responsible for the end of the Authority. That hatred isn't going to go away just because HHH isn't calling the shots. I still think they'll be able to build a really nice story around this one moment for the next several months. Plus, if Sting is put in power then HHH has an even bigger reason to now chase him through WrestleMania. I think it would take very little effort to see a guy like Rollins or Kane go after Sting right now over the next 2-3 PPVs leading into Mania. I know it's traditional to see the babyface chase the heel on top but in this case I think it might be compelling to see it work the other way around, given Sting's Legend status and HHH's desire to not be outdone by anyone. I agree it can work fine.....I wonder what added developments Raw will bring? Sadly, none haha. So typical at this point.

I would have Triple H and Sting wrestle at the Royal Rumble, and then have Undertaker come down and stare down Sting after the match or on RAW at some point.

Styles/Tanahashi in my opinion. I had heard about Tanahashi for YEARS before i had ever even seen Puro and his name value has only gone up since then.
Styles is proving once again to be one of the BITW and people need to get over the TNA stigma because AJ has been around just as long as John Cena only on a smaller scale (and now a damn near equal scale) im sure more than enough of the WWE Universe knows who he is.

Sting vs Triple H does actually look good on paper. However, the only way virtually every wrestling fan will be satisfied is if at Wrestlemania 32 we still get Sting vs Undertaker in their farewell Match.
It's a bit hard for me though. It's clear that Sting needs a win before he loses to Undertaker, therefore fighting Triple H first makes sense. However, for the Sting vs Undertaker Match to be as powerful and big as it could be, it would be better to go down while Sting is fresh in the WWE. As of now, in the WWE's portrayed view, he is still hugely mysterious. If he is around for a year or so until Wrestlemania 32, by then the novelty could of worn off big time, and Undertaker vs Sting wont be anywhere near as special as it could of been.
For the people going on about how Undertaker vs Sting would suck etc, it's a rare Match that doesn't need to be good. The gimmick's involved, and the history of their Careers makes the Match itself. It's about more than having a good Match. It's worth it for the Promo's the build, the Entrances, and that one moment of them staring each other down in the middle of the Ring. Plus, it will more than likely be both of their last ever Matches.
