We've heard "new era" way too often in the last year and a half.

It's probably not a new era. It's never a new era. People talk about the PG era or the HD era or the Reality era, none of them exist. This is the Cena era, has been since like 2005. The only thing that changes is the supporting cast. I'm not saying this just to be jaded or bitter (although I am a little jaded at this point) this is just the way I see it.
Look at all the other accepted eras in history. You start with the Hogan era, which is only accepted to be really over once Hogan leaves for WCW and Bret takes over. Then New Generation, which ends when Bret's gone and Michaels 'retires' after Austin gets his big win at WM 14. Then Ruthless aggression, beginning when Austin walks out and Rock goes to Hollywood after putting Brock over. Then there's the Cena era, after Brock leaves followed by a transition period ending with Batista and Cena going over the top heels at WM 21. Cena's the big dog. No one ever truly gets put over him and for a new era to actually start, he either has to leave or pass the torch for good.
