Did Marvel toys use real scan for their faces on their TNA figures? They didn't when they were known as toybiz and made WCW ones did they? Cause I thought Jakks was the first to do that in like 2001? I remember reading that Marvel reused an old WCW toybiz sculpt for a TNA Sting figure but I thought I read somewhere that they used real scan for their TNA line. If they did was it Gentle Giant Studios just like Jakks and Mattel?

the first Sting was a reused WCW sculpt rush job. Many bodies were reused. If they would've made fresh parts from the start it could've been an amazing line, but AJ Styles and his Buff Bagwell body redo was just s**t.

I agree, if those AJ Styles figures didn't have that stupid stick in his back. They would of easily been one of the best wrestling figures. I do know whydraft2 made a pretty awesome AJ Styles figure using a Chris Sabin body.

The A.J. Styles face is a bit more accurate than that smiling Jakks version I think. But neither one seem perfect... They look completely different and something seems a little off about both of them.

I like the B.G. James one from that 2 pack with Konnan. I've got that Ron Killings one with the blue jersey that's kind of weird though the head seems too small and the chest is really big and puffy and there's an O in place of the C in "action" on his jersey... I wonder what chest mold they used for that? Almost seems like an Incredible Hulk one or something they just slapped a rubber jersey over. But aside from the head being a little too small that's actually a good face sculpt. I was olding that Next to the R-Truth Elite 15 and they're about the same height and I think the Elite body is way better but the Marvel face is just as good if not better than the elite.

Why's nobody answering the question "did they use real scan?" I personally don't know but looking at sabu I'd guess not. Then again, sonjay, sting, r truth, d von, Kip james and many others look so good that they must have used it on some and not others. Actually most of them must have been scanned. Sabu is really the only one that comes to mind that definitely looked like a sculpt. May be konnan too.

I think the Devon one they did looks a lot better than the Jakks Team 3D 2 pack one

Toybiz was using scans for their Lord of the Rings figures and I think they did for Wesley Snipes (Blade). I never heard anything about TNA, but it seems probable.

they did use a scan for most of the TNA stuff, it wasn't as advanced as Jakks though

They used some kind of scanning, for sure. The Marvel TNA Kevin Nash figures have the mole on his cheek that no WWE figure ever has.

These figures were so ahead of their time.

To answer the original question, if I remember correctly, some of the Toybiz TNA figures used realscan, and some did not. I think one of the reps said something like it depended on talent availability for scanning, timescale for the figure, etc. By the way I'm basing this information on my memories of a Q&A or interview someone did with Toybiz when they were making TNA figures (I'm not just looking at the heads and guessing)
I don't know why but James Mitchell keeps coming to mind as being one that was stated as being a sculpt. But perhaps that was just an opinion I formed myself, I really can't recall.

I really can't recall if I'm making this up or not, but I want to say I remember the term 'laser scan' being thrown around. Some figures are very obviously scanned while some, as other have stated, don't look it. Look at the first Jeff Jarrett for instance.
