I'm starting to feel really bad about this whole thing. It's really a shame considering the price is good for all the content you get. I'd definitely subscribe to it but of course they have decided that Germany is not one of those 170 countries so I will have to wait another few years as I don't want any nation-changing thing that apparently many people use.

One thing that they have on the Network that isn't anywhere else is Raw Backstage Pass. As something only on the Network, that's one tool they could use to entice people to sign up to see if anything of significance ever happened on there. The problem with that would be how much of the conclusion of Raw would they be willing to trim in order to put it on Backstage Pass instead?

I'm really not the least bit surprised the Network is bombing. Aside from the fact that the product today is some of the worst of all time, they never even update the Network. Seriously, when was the last time they even bothered to put up more older episodes of RAW, SmackDown and Nitro? Not to mention, most of their "original programming" is nothing more than rehashed interviews from older documentaries that they paste together and try and call a special. If they wanna do budget cuts so badly, start with whoever is in charge of the content updates. It's absolutely terrible. They uploaded new Smackdown episodes a few weeks ago. They've been uploading more 1995 Raws the past few weeks, including three a few days ago. Thet haven't added new Nitros since they uploaded two years in one shot. |

can't say it really surprises me at all. the network module simply does not add up. wwe's old fans know better than to look to wwe for their history, there's plenty of resources on the internet that are actually superior to some netflix laid out wrestling. never mind the editing, episodes they just leave out, lack of updating...it's just not that amazing for old school fans.
and for fans just into the current product, as other's have said, there are plenty of hours a week you can get it. they really put themselves in a spot because by having raw not be on cable you'd lose the mass audience and non wrestling fans tuning in, while if it's not solely on the network there isn't very much reason to look into it when all the programming exists outside of it.

I think it's a mistake to let fans go month-to-month on the Network but the failure to lock-in a million subscribers on 6 month at a time contracts has kind of forced them into a corner. WWE is essentially giving the viewer a la carte privileges and devaluing their video library imo. Although, I guess that goes back to the adage that something is only as valuable as what someone will pay for it. I honestly wish more people were subscribing. I think the Network is amazing. My big knock is the lack of 97-01 weekly content for Raw and Nitro. I could easily cancel and just wait for those to be added. I won't because I find value elsewhere but that's a big hole imo.
It is what it is at this point. I'm enjoying this ride while I'm on it.

I buy WWE Network solely for the monthly PPVS. If the WWE Network fails they are going to have an even harder time convincing people to ever pay a PPV price again considering they tout is $9.99 thus valuing each PPV as much. The network will not be going anywhere because it's a catch 22. They are in a corner. Rumors on Wall Street by some analysts actually are predicting of a sale of WWE, which would be shocking if it ever came to fruition.

Someone mentioned this on the first page and I totally agree, without the 6 month commitment it seems like this would hurt the subscriber count even FURTHER! why wouldn't people just pay $10 for the ppvs they want as opposed to $50? The point is though, I'm not watching B ppvs anyway...But now I can watch Royal Rumble for $10...I was paying $50 last year. The original network model of 6 months already wasn't as profitable as the ppv model, now it's going to be even worse because I'm not even locked into paying something for the B ppvss
Basically all the network did for someone like me was take my $50 I was willing to dish out for the ppvs I wanted to watch, and now I only have to pay $10...how does that make sense? haha

The reality is that there are really less than a million who'll pay $10, so they're kinda screwed... But it's a great deal for those of us who used to buy PPVs anyway! |

I agree completely, from my point of view like I said, I was willing to pay $50 for the good shows...even $60 for 6 months was like, ok atleast they are getting something per month....but this current model of pick and choose is essentially charging $10 per ppv, whether you watch the content on the VOD or not it doesn't really matter, that's even worse because before I had to spend another $20 on DVDs (and I WAS!)....I don't have to do that either now. Screwed is probably the best way to sum it up haha |

The rollout in 170 countries equalled just 30,000 new subscribers since the summer conference call... Pretty much everyone who wanted it was already using region unblockers to be a US subscriber. This is not good at all. I think they actually gained like 280,000 subscribers but lost 250,000 when the first six-month renewal period was up. I was one of those. The monthly PPV just wasn't enough, and I have no interest in watching documentaries where people talk about DX invading WCW for the millionth time. In my opinion, NXT is well worth the 9.99. That's what I use the Network for. The PPV's, and documentaries are just extras. |

The reason why i will not subscribe is because WWE is just so unbearably bad right now. I cant even sit through a 3 hour Raw, They put zero effort into Smackdown. WWE just doesnt give a crap about their product now, They are the most lazy they've ever been, So why i should i put any effort into watching their bullcrap on my own dime? If this was created around 2003-04, Back when i held onto every minute of WWE programming and wanted more and more, I wouldve subscribed. If i cant even sit through a Raw now, Whats the point in paying for something i know im not going to enjoy?
Edit: Now that WWE is in desperate mode, They are going to further shove this crap down our throats on Raw, Which disinterests me even more from the product.

I love the network and have been waiting for something like this to come along for a long time. Access to older payperviews, old episodes of Raw, Smackdown, Nitro, ECW, etc. is great and getting the new payperviews is just icing on the cake for me. The $9.99 price is awesome as I expected it to be more.
I think over 700,000 is a great number of subscribers. People seem to be judging the fact that its not immediately at a million subscribers as a failure, but things like this do take time. The WWE Network is the first subscription streaming service that I've been a part of, even though Netflix and Hulu have been around for awhile. And there are others out there like me that don't immediately jump on the newest technology, but eventually decide to try it out.
I hope the numbers keep growing, because as long as the network is available and stays reasonably priced...I'm gonna stick with it.

That's not a good number, considering they're available in other countries. That number is OK if it were only in the United States. Anyways, my thing is, I'm starting to think whether the numbers will rise if WWE focused more on uploading older stuff, or something for everybody. I mean my biggest complaint about the Network is, they stopped uploading the Old School Live Events, something a lot of fans from the 80s would love to see. They stopped uploading WCCW episodes, something I bet a lot of fans from the territory days would buy the Network to see. They stopped uploading ECW Hardcore TV, which even though the music editing sucks, I bet a lot of old school ECW who haven't bought bootlegs or have access to buy bootlegs would buy the Network for. Thing is, having all the PPVs is cool and all, but you could easily find those on the internet or bootleg them. Stuff like WCCW, the Old School live events, that's something that's not easy to find or have never been released. Some of the original shows are good and all, but to me, it's at the point where I say, "Ok, give me some Old School live events, give me some ECW Hardcore TV, give me WCCW, give me episodes of everything you started with that you've stopped when the Network came out." The only thing on the archives that's not an original show that is completed is the Legends of Wrestling roundtables, and even then before they finally completed them, they would stopped for almost a month. They have all this time on the schedule, yet they fill it with replays. I bet you if they started uploading regularly WCCW, ECW, the Old School live events, you might see those numbers rise up. And I'm not gonna buy the whole "Maybe they don't have all those episodes digitalized and maybe that's why you get these episodes on the regular". Well at this point being October and they've known since probably December of last year that the Network was coming, they should have worked day and night getting these uploads ready. The Network just needs to upload something for every fan. The Slam City episodes are good for the current kid fans, make those episodes into half an hour episodes, put it on Saturday/Sunday mornings, that will make the kids happy. I was gonna say for the Attitude Era fans to upload more RAW is WAR and Smackdown from that era, but then that would mess up the schedule of RAW uploads chronologically. For the fans of the 70's and 80's, upload more old school live events and WCCW. Maybe even add AWA or another territory that they have the rights to. I've honestly gotten to the point where I don't get the urge to go on the Network as I used to. I love the Network, but sometimes I've gone a day or two without going on there. When the Network first came out, every new episode of any show that aired live, I would tune in. Now, I only go on live during Main Event and NXT, and even then sometimes I'll watch them on the archive.
