I love the Warrior but I HATE the Cena. you're starting to sound like that demolition guy... or was it LOD? he wouldn't shut up about flashbacks. If I sound like that guy it's cause I agree. There are soo many characters Mattel could make. They could make Flashbacks, they could make current wwe mid card and opening card guys, but instead we get the same figures over and over again. When ever a new set of figures comes out it is always the same guys (Cena Orton Bryan Sheamus) that linger on the shelves forever. One would think Mattel would learn from these peg warmers but instead we get them again in the next wave. I wouldnt mind but it infuriates me because due to these peg warmers, the shelves get clogged and future waves do not see shelf space. Look at the DC line, they did not make Batman and Superman in every other release. Mattel made a wide assortment of obscure characters from the DC universe. But for some reason when it comes to wwe they choose to redo the same guys over and over again.

Any toy that is sold in a toy store if for children. Some lines might be more aimed towards adults but in the end its for children. With the wwe line, they love adult money but they disguise certain moves by claiming it's for kids. Case in point the BAF Ross line. Ross is no longer on television so you can not tell me that line was for children. And yet the selections for the figures were for kids. No Adult collector wants another Cena, Del rio, or Orton.

What you have to understand is kids don't want action figures of some guy they've never heard of who wrestled 30 years ago. They want modern characters they know and enjoy watching.

But Mattel is about what kids currently see on television, not what they might know.

Mattel wants to make figures of people who are currently on television. Surely though they must have a way of knowing what the customers want. Look at Ringside, everytime a new case of figures comes out the first figure to sell out isnt the newest version of Cena or Bryan, it's always the Flash back or the First time in the Line figure that goes first. Putting those facts aside though. I mentioned the DC line because that line had a bunch of figures made from characters I had no idea who they were. So I know Mattel is willing to make obscure characters but for some reason they refuse to with wwe.

But for some reason when it comes to wwe they choose to redo the same guys over and over again. The DC line really only lasted 20 series and its end was announced around, maybe series 15. It was limping toward the end. A lot of those obscure characters didn't help and there's some figures from 2011 still hanging around Kmart and Walmart.

I know the feeling. I left for work at 8am & got home just after 11pm today. I get home & see my package from WWEShop arrived today. That made me feel a little better.

So I know Mattel is willing to make obscure characters but for some reason they refuse to with wwe. They had completely different brand managers and different market targets. Toy Guru was a nerd and made it a point to get out people like the Metal Men, who were featured in a Batman cartoon running at the time. If you pay attention and take note, you'll notice that is says "ADULT COLLECTOR" on the dcuc boxes. You'll also note that Mattel make a LOT of Batman toys.

See there is a Walmart near me which has a number of Cena and Rock battle packs clogging the shelves. The battle pack from late 2011/early 2012. Every time I go it makes me so mad, especially when I see they get more Cenas in.

Now, CM Punk isn't selling at all. Yeah, I'd prefer more '80s wrestlers, but I think Mattel has handled the line well the last couple of years.
