Hey guys, so I've been dealing with this problem lately ... I'm primarily a Legends collector, though I often keep up with new Elites as well. I recently moved into a new house and, now that I'm getting older, don't know how fitting it is to have a ton of toys on display at all times ... I know, I know. Please don't hold it against me. Difficult decisions.
Right now in my home office I've got a display with most of my Legends figures ... there's around 85 in a bookcase, and I recently cut back from around 100 because it looked too cluttered. Now I'm as happy as anyone else that more Legends in the pipeline (especially that "corrected" Sgt. Slaughter), but I'm having a hard time figuring how much is reasonable for a display and how much is simply too much. I'm not trying to scare people (read: girls) away.
How do you all handle this situation? Should I pare down to 1 figure per each legend, sticking with only the most iconic looks? Do I pack up some of the lesser names? Maybe rotate some of the figures every couple of months? Do I say the hell with it and by a larger bookcase? I know most fans on here will probably lean toward the larger bookcase, ha, but I'm interested in hearing what everyone thinks ... most of the times I end up packing some figures I end up eventually taking them back out, lol. The collector struggle!

I do my best to keep it to one figure per worker, and my favorite available look. Also, I try and only get figures where I legitimately like the wrestler, so nice figures like Warrior or Fandango don't make it into my collection cause I don't like them.

Being an older collector myself, I try to stick to one figure per wrestler. Except for situations like Rockers & HBK.
If I have multiples of someone I put one back (Nash & Cactus) and switch them out to give the shelf a fresh look every now and then.

Maybe stock up and attempt to build an add on room for just your collection ?
I wouldn't "limit" a hobby I enjoy, but I do completely understand that room is hard to come by ... Especially MOMC.
I have over 250 MOC's that I have YET to display haha, so that's goinf to be a task in itself !

To be honest, I would'nt really want to put ANY away . But if push came to shove, I would opt for your idea of rotating your collection, perhaps buy one, put one away. Then you can always bring others out from storage when you want a change.

Maybe just have 1 of each guy on display, of course put your favorite of the person on display, and maybe just buy a box and put the others there. You could always swap them around

It's crazy. It is! It's also harmless. You're overthinking the whole thing. It's a hobby.

Ive tried to display my collection in its entirety a few times in.the past. Came close to getting them all out once, but its just to much to fit everything in and look good at the same time. So ,the only solution ive found ( in addition to adding another display) has been to keep one "definitive" version on display at all times in one display, while rotating all the various attires/gimmick changes/headsculpts on a regular basis. It not only conserves some space, but also keeps things fresh and can ignite interest in older figures that you may have lost interest in , or overlooked before once its their turn to shine.

I rotate and constantly change my display. My current setup is just elites only. So while I have duplicates, I have no basics up so it saves room. I have about 400 figures, but elites only equals about 160 on display right now. I should add that elites only includes my legends and flashbacks.

I've ran into this problem. I wound up scaling down to only collecting elite legends 1985-1996. Also I don't display all the ones I have...

I would just get a bigger bookcase. I mainly collect moc so i can run out of room pretty fast. My loose display is currently very small because of my moc figures and wrestling videos.

I hold out hope that one day I will become disgustingly rich and can have my own warehouse/museum dedicated to these displays.

I have multiple figures of each wrestler because I like to compare how they've changed their look over the years. I get rid of the figures I don't like or get bored of, so my collection never gets too big.
