I'm currently watching Raw and am at the Randy Orton and John Cena promo. I'm watching it and seeing of the best promos I've seen in a while from John Cena and the crowd reaction as well got me to thinking, does the WWE universe still dislike John Cena like they used to?
I remember over the past few years he's been treated very lowly by crowds all over America, with "Cena Sucks" chants resonating through the arena, but it now seems as though people aren't disliking him as much at live shows.
Cena hate is still alive and well on the internet as 75% of online wrestling fans seem to very much dislike John Cena but despite that, he's still getting much better crowd reactions of late.
Thoughts?

No! Everytime the WWE books him as the greatest hero that ever graced the WWE rings. The hate is pretty obvious on live RAWs and Pay-Per-Views. He is still over in house shows, but the male demographic knows how much they can't stand him being the face of the company. You can't have one man be the face of the company forever, he is a company tool getting all the breaks! I'm getting tired of him and his friends (Sheamus, Big Show) being on top! Vince just doesn't get it! He has put this man over the talent for his own gain!

I just figured they were overwhelmingly cheering him tonight because he defended the Royals. I don't think it's indicative of any larger trend.

I don't actually mind watching him wrestle (he took some pretty cool suplexes from Brock at NOC/summerslam). I think he has improved his in ring skills but his promos are really stale. I nearly fall asleep everytime he talks; he is so boring.

I just figured they were overwhelmingly cheering him tonight because he defended the Royals. I don't think it's indicative of any larger trend. Nailed it. Orton went with the cheap heat with the Royals stuff and Cena took it right back by standing up for them with the World Series rebuttals. I didn't think anything about the promo was special and Cena to me is as monotonous as ever. Just because Cena is yelling and using the word ass, doesn't mean he's cutting a good promo.

IWC wise, he's a bit more liked, or at least respected.
Crowd wise, he's just as hated as ever.

If they hate, let 'em hate.

I want him to turn heel. That would be "Best for Business"... I still hate his character and I do think people still hate him.

I don't think so. The fans were cheering the Royals more than they were cheering him. He was garnering cheap pops, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just the only way he can get cheered by the majority of the audience.
Plus, they were all about Orton until he flipped out on the Royals again.

I'm no Cena hater, but his shtick is getting old and repetitive. WWE needs to build up some more Main Event stars and even Cena would benefit.

I respect the worker that John Cena has become because he constantly puts on good to great matches. However, the character is ABSURDLY stale and cheesy.

Some people are growing out of the adolescent "Cena sux push more workr8" phase. Some people are growing into that phase though to balance out those who grow out of it. It's the same as it ever is.

The fact that they refer to Go Away Heat as him being such a charismatic, controversial superstar who can get any kind of reaction out of the fans gives him far too much credit. I'm not going to even bother booing him at a live event when it's practically cheering for Cena in their minds.
I don't know if the hate has died down, but I know now that it's hardly a factor in telling WWE what the fans want.
