Austin wasn't keeping them in business when he broke his neck; he was the IC champ they saw potential in. They put him on the fast track to the title when he came back because of how much the fans loved him. Whether or not they'll put that same faith in Bryan is unforeseen, but saying the reason Austin was still pushed when he got back because he was keeping the company afloat was just wrong. Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and the Undertaker were doing that. Have to respectfully disagree Ben. Austin vs The Harts was THE hottest thing in WWF 1997.....HBK threw tantrum after tantrum in 1997 and was hardly there for the big events.....and UTs reign on top was terribly forgettable. Absolutely this.

Daniel Bryan will probably become champion again, but in a long time, as WWE want Roman Reigns to become the new champion and the new Cena. Don't forget that there's Cesaro, Devitt, Steen, KENTA, Zayn, Neville,... etc who have to become champion. I agree, but you're talking at least 3-5 years for some of those guys.

Why doesn't WWE just bring in that dude who wrestled in ROH named Bryan Danielson?? I haven't seen him wrestle in years and he looks A LOT like Daniel Bryan.

When he comes back he will be the most over wrestler again, so WWE will have no choice but to give him a main event slot. My thoughts exactly. I can only imagine the pop he'll receive

Honestly I don't think he's ever coming back and if by some miracle he does I think they will be very cautious about giving him the title again because of what happened with this injury.

They have known since 2013 that Bryan would need the surgery, I think since that Raw match against Orton where he got the stinger and Triple H had to stop the match. When Bryan won the title at WrestleMania, the plan was for him to get squashed by Lesnar at SummerSlam and then get the surgery, and that still would have been leading to Lesnar vs Reigns, so I don't think there were any ideas of Bryan being The Man going forward anyway.

I doubt they'd make him go over at WM like that if they didn't want him the be 'the man', but maybe your right.

I wonder how hard people would bitch if they knew that the same exact match would've happened between Bryan and Lesnar, as it did with Cena at SummerSlam - an absolute squash.

Guess someone dosent like Bryan eh? I'm actually a huge fan of Bryan. I'd just find it a bid odd that if the same match that happened with Cena happened with Bryan, people who adored the Cena match would bring out the pitchforks if it happened with Daniel.

Bryan getting squashed by Lesnar at SummerSlam (probably) wasn't just going to build Lesnar to lose the title to Cena at Night of Champions, it was in aid of making Lesnar a huge bad guy to usher in the Roman Empire. But Bryan not being able to hold out until SummerSlam, and Reigns' own injuries, have probably resulted in a case where that WrestleMania moment of Double R beating Brock might be quite lukewarm now. Hell, wouldn't surprise me if Ambrose gets that spot instead.

The dude is injured. I doubt they've lost faith in him so much as they just can't plan anything for him when they don't know when/if he'll be back.
