I like the guy, I think he's a great guy for the mid card but I don't think he should be main eventing shows. Guys like him aren't meant for the midcard. Again, you're not taking into account what the WWE's product calls for. Edge was a pretty big star, you're right not the caliber of Cena/Austin but he was still a full blown main eventer. They can leave and people are desperate for them to come back, or in Cena's case it was a total surprise that no one saw coming so they were happy. From early this year it was clear as day Roman is going to beat Brock and main event WM31. I'm telling you, if he eliminates Bryan it's going to be the Batista situation all over again. It easily could be. There's no way to know for sure until they're in the ring. Hogan was the main draw and he was just like Cena and always won, never really let anyone else shine for like 10 years. Hogan was the main draw and yet they still had a healthy crew of top guys. See, being a 'top guy' doesn't have to mean you're the main draw. Being a 'top guy' means that you're a big enough star that you can be slotted into the main event and play your role. So basically what you're saying is, Reigns is allowed to suck because he is playing a badass character? Because he doesn't have t be good on the mic or in the ring, but as long as he does he 4 moves well, all is good? Holy crap. His gimmick is that he's the destroyer. He doesn't have to know a ton of moves to be good at what he does. You're showing right here that you don't understand pro wrestling, it's not the number of moves, it's how you use them to move the crowd. Guys like Roman don't need a ton of moves and they don't need to be elite level in ring workers. This is why you have guys like Bryan at the top of the card. It's the same reason guys like Savage and DiBiase were near the top of the card to work with Hulk and Warrior. You have to have someone reliable in the main event scene. Granted, Hulk was good and Warrior could be hand lead, but when they didn't have capable opponents, matches fell apart. Look at Goldberg, Batista, Warrior. They didn't need to be great in ring workers, they had a purpose and they served it and they were good at what they did. Not everyone has to be a great in ring worker like Bryan, wrestlers serve all different kinds of roles and purposes, what's so friggin' hard to understand about that? This whole discussion is a damn good case for why if internet fans ran the WWE, it would be dead in no time flat. Guys like Reigns serve their purpose, and his purpose is being the token destroyer at the top of the card and guess what? It's not a role a guy like Bryan can fill. I know their not booking for internet fans, I don't expect them too but I do expect the top talent in the company to be pushed as such, and not just because they look pretty. So you don't expect them to book for internet fans, but you turn right around and admit that you do expect them to book for internet fans? That's exactly what you're saying "I get that they don't book the product for me, but I still think they should book the product the way I want to see it!" There will always be guys like Roman Reigns around in the main event, it's been this way for decades. Get over it. Wade Barrett has a much better look than Reigns, along with mic skills and ring skills, but he's not pushed because he's English and because he isn't supermodel attractive like Reigns. I can't wait till Vince steps down and actual talent can actually shine. Or it could be that he gets injured once a year, conveniently right before they go to do anything major with him. Vince being gone isn't nearly as big a factor as you think because Stephanie's still involved and tows the McMahon family line. Batista showed a lot more potential then Reigns has, he was good enough on the mic and mediocre in the ring, Reigns is worse than that in both aspects. No, he's not. Batista was DREADFUL in the ring, and I'm a bigger fan of Big Dave than I ever will be Roman. He was awful in the ring until Triple H dragged him to three great matches...and then he went back to having sh-tty matches for two years until he worked Taker. Hell, Batista said "weapons aren't only encouraged, they're allowed" in 2005. Reigns hasn't said anything near that moronic in a promo. He says what he needs to say and lets that be that. He doesn't need to do anything more.

He's over, and he's there and there is nothing I can do about it. I'd much rather have him at the top than Reigns but that doesn't mean I love him. I guess we'll see but Bryan is basically the new Stone Cold and no one is more over than him and I don't think his absence is going to change a thing. No, I understand pro wrestling perfectly, I just don't accept mediocrity, I want the best of the best on top of the card. Brock Lesnar can't talk worth a crap but he's a beast in the ring, you're right about not needing all the qualities but you need at least one. Even then, I don't think he should ever touch the main belt because he's not good enough. Goldberg, Warrior had charisma leaking out the ass, booking makes a difference too, if Goldberg/Warrior weren't booked the way they were they wouldn't have been stars. Steph and H care about talent, not look. At least that's how it seems from NXT, where they have an English champion, something Vince wouldn't ever do. Batista works as a heel, not a face. So naturally when he is more comfortable he will do better. Barrett then got his big feud with Orton what, a year later, and was starting to get a major push, then injured. This year, gets the IC title and they actually make a big deal of it, make him a big point of shows, injured
And you don't accept anything less than the best being on the top of the card? Why are you still watching wrestling then? It hasn't really ever been that way for an extended period of time.
Reigns is pretty much Goldberg right now. Man of few words, wrecks people in entertaining but not incredible matches, and fans love him. The vocal minority doesn't, but he gets some of the best crowd reactions. He has the superstar look, and he'll only get better, same as Batista was in 2005.

WWE were never going to push him, he got wrecked by Orton time and time again. I don't really watch all that much anymore, I catch Raw from time to time to see Ambrose/Barrett/Wyatt and still cling on to hope Punk will one day be back and make everything better. He needs to get better before he is pushed, you don't get to the top then improve. Ambrose should be where Reigns is now, top of the card and undefeated. But he doesn't have that oh so precious look so he actually has to work for his push.

I guess we'll see but Bryan is basically the new Stone Cold and no one is more over than him and I don't think his absence is going to change a thing. We're going to have to see. No, I understand pro wrestling perfectly, I just don't accept mediocrity, I want the best of the best on top of the card. Once again, Reigns is good at what he needs to be good at. He's a guy who can be marketed and has mass appeal. That's a guy you want to position to be at the top of the card regardless of what the "smart" fans think of his work. Brock Lesnar can't talk worth a crap but he's a beast in the ring, you're right about not needing all the qualities but you need at least one. Reigns is good in the role they've put him in and he has a marketable look. There's one quality. Even then, I don't think he should ever touch the main belt because he's not good enough. The Miz has held that title. Roman Reigns is better than The Miz and there's no getting around that. Goldberg, Warrior had charisma leaking out the ass, booking makes a difference too It does. if Goldberg/Warrior weren't booked the way they were they wouldn't have been stars. Just like Reigns won't be a star if he's not handled correctly. Batista can talk, he doesn't have to be good in ring. WWE would be dead in no time flat if the internet ran it, but for different reasons then you are claiming. No, if WWE did the whole "push all the talented guys the internet loves" thing, they'd be screwed. You can't undo the sh-t that's been done to guys like Ziggler and magically make the masses buy them as a top level star. When did I say I wanted them to book for internet fans? Don't put words in my mouth, I said I want the best talent pushed. That should be how everyone feels. You said you don't want them to book for the internet and then in the same post mentioned that you want the same things the rest of the internet wants. You didn't say it outright, it was probably unintentional. 2010 Wade Barrett didn't get injured, he was buried. Riddle me that, no injuries at all. Hottest heel WWE has had since the AE, used to get Cena over. Steph and H care about talent, not look. As much as I don't like him, Punk has an argument for being a hotter heel than Barrett in his 2012 title reign. Edge does at some points, as well. At least that's how it seems from NXT, where they have an English champion, something Vince wouldn't ever do. Had to look that up, I've honestly thought he was Scottish for the past seven years. Batista works as a heel, not a face. So naturally when he is more comfortable he will do better. Roman has had much worse promos than Big Dave has ever had, from the weird way he's said BeLEEEVE DAAAAt to the god awful promo where he said he's got the antidote to the vipers poison. And again, "weapons aren't only encouraged, they're allowed." Cutting good promos doesn't absolve you of the turds. We haven't seen Reigns do a heel promo on his own yet, only as part of a group. Maybe that's dude's comfort zone. It's way too early to write him off as someone who doesn't deserve anything. Let the guy develop and at least try to get where they want him to be before you write him off.

But he doesn't have that oh so precious look so he actually has to work for his push. Ambrose as an undefeated worldbeater doesn't work because it doesn't fit his character. Ambrose is better served as the crazy loose cannon.

They're not booking this product solely for internet fans. I think it's time we all got that through our heads. If everyone got that through their heads, the board would be dead. So basically what you're saying is, Reigns is allowed to suck because he is playing a badass character? Reigns has been getting pushed slowly for a couple of years as part of the shield, they started out with the beast survivor series and rumble performances, and as the split has happened, they started the singles push, and are giving him a couple of big feuds before they go with him for the title. He had his Orton feud, and the rollins one before the injury. And it's not all about the top of the card. I'd rather have Ambrose where he is, putting on kickass matches all the time and not get bogged down in the stupid crap that tends to happen in the main title picture. You need reliable, great mid card guys who can deliver quality matches. Even going back in the day, Hogan was at the top of the card, fans loved him, he would win the main event, fans go home happy. But Wrestlemania 3, you still see Savage/Steamboat talked about as much or more as hogan/Andre, because they delivered an incredible match. As long as Rollins and Ambrose continue to be awesome and people remember them, it doesn't matter if they main event the title match or open the show

So basically what you're saying is, Reigns is allowed to suck because he is playing a badass character? I just want him to be good at something, I don't care if he knows 90 headlock variations, but I'd like some more substance in his matches. Take away his look and what do you have? A spear and some punches. Oh and without the vest he's chubby, so it's really only his face they can market. Yeah, he should have been WWE champion in 2010. I don't care about mid card belts, they are worthless. WWE were never going to push him, he got wrecked by Orton time and time again. As long as Rollins and Ambrose continue to be awesome and people remember them, it doesn't matter if they main event the title match or open the show You push people that are hot, they did it with Brock, and now look at him. Huge draw, you can spin it any way you want but you took the hottest heel in WWE and fed him to the guy that's been on top for years for no reason, then proceeded to kill the rest of Barrett's momentum by sending him to the B show to lose to Randy Orton. Plus, you keep acting like these injuries are his fault, you can thank Big Show and Swagger for injuring him, no fault of his. The lower card in today's WWE doesn't matter, you could have a mid card match that stole the show but now, none of them have any point.

You named one Reigns quality, everyone in WWE is marketable, it all depends on if they put the effort in or not. Which they do not, Miz is better than Reigns, he can make the crowd hate him, see his WWE title run, he was actually very good at that. You can easily undo things they've done in the past, Triple H was squashed by Warrior at Wrestle freakin' Mania and went on to become WWE champion, that right there says it all. WWE fans forget things, quickly too. I give Reigns plenty of chances, but I want him to improve before he gets this monster push, if he comes back better in ring and on the mic you bet I won't put him down anymore, but as it stands I will because he sucks.

You can easily undo things they've done in the past, Triple H was squashed by Warrior at Wrestle freakin' Mania and went on to become WWE champion, that right there says it all. It took three years, two major character overhauls and Steve Austin taking time off to get him to that point. Austin was supposed to drop the title to Hunter, said no and Hunter had to beat Foley to win it. That wasn't 'easily undoing' Warrior over Hunter at WM. That took a lot of time and effort on the part of everyone involved to get Triple H to the level he was at.

Yet, another thread to be locked soon There's no need to lock anything with the rustyy/TAKEOVER discussion. The one guy in the middle that came in at random and threw insults out should maybe remove his post, but that's about it.

Yet, another thread to be locked soon There's no need to lock anything with the rustyy/TAKEOVER discussion. The one guy in the middle that came in at random and threw insults out should maybe remove his post, but that's about it. Yeah, me and rustyy aren't arguing or doing anything that warrants a thread being locked. We're just dudes discussing dudely crap with wildly different viewpoints on stuff.

yeah this thread was absolutely meant to continue the "dont push reigns/push reigns" debate that is going to fill up this board for the next year +
in addition to the actual news that reigns isnt gonna be on the PPV, lol

yeah this thread was absolutely meant to continue the "dont push reigns/push reigns" debate that is going to fill up this board for the next year + in addition to the actual news that reigns isnt gonna be on the PPV, lol Any thread that mentions Roman Reigns will do that. Hell, any thread about Dean Ambrose or Seth Rollins will have someone complaining that they should be pushed instead of Reigns within the first ten posts, and then someone responding to that. Any thread that can slightly turn into a "stop pushing Cena" thread will. Any divas thread will turn into an argument about the Bellas and/or AJ Lee. Basically, anything that can turn into a "WWE should book its product solely for internet fans" vs "no it shouldn't" argument will turn into that argument. That's the nature of discussion... No point locking it really unless people are using personal insults, offensive words etc. Or like I said the other day, have a few stickied threads like "all bitching about Cena goes here" "all bitching about Roman Reigns goes here" "all bitching about the Bella Twins goes here" "all bitching about Kevin Dunn goes here" "all bitching about Triple H goes here" "all bitching about darlings not being pushed here" etc etc and then just move any arguments/debates about those things from other threads to the stickies.

Look, I want Reigns off my tv, and if it takes something as extreme as an injury for that to become a reality, then so be it. I'm not going to wish physical suffering on the bloke, obviously... but at the same time, I'm not going to pretend that I'm not happy he'll be missing time, because I am. He certainly won't be any great loss... oh and never mind about Reigns not becoming a star, because "he's not handled properly", he won't become a star, because he's got no star quality, whatsoever. Well, you say that, but I know the entire summer of 2012 was Cena/Show/Laurenitis on the top of the card, and what I remember is the fnatastic Punk title matches. And this year the only things that really come to mind at first thought is all the great tag matches we've had this year, even excluding the Shield/Evolution ones since they topped their cards, I remember other stuff. It honestly doesn't matter where someone is on the card, watch and enjoy who you like. Reigns is decent and I enjoy him, and the fact that they've done his push as a slow burn and just started ramping it up in the second half of this year. You can off and cry and bitch into your Ben and Jerry's if it pisses you off so much, and other peoples preferences mean so damn little to you, you stupid, worthless bitchVery civil. You had better get a warning for this.

For some time now I have felt that The Wyatts would be turned face to become a thorn in the side of The Authority......its just a feeling Ive had for a while.... Outside of an angle with The Authority, I don't really see how they would work as faces. They could absolutely work as tweeners, but I think going full-face would kill them. I agree completely.....I could see Stephanie trying to set them on somebody and Bray just smiling and refusing.
