Can someone inform me how to distinguish the Taker and Bret mailaways from their regular Hasbro counterparts? Even as a kid I couldn't tell the difference.

So, basically if they aren't bagged it's difficult to determine if they are legitimately the mailaways. Thanks man!

Taker is obvious, its nothing like the Series 8, Series 8 beard is almost purple, Mailaway is Brown.

It's fairly easy, but then again a lot of times you see it on ebay it's not easy to tell because of the sellers' camera settings (deliberate or not?!). Series 4 'taker is Ginger (with full eyeliner). Series 8 Dark Brown (with upper eyelid liner) and mail order 'taker is medium Brown (with full eyeliner).

I always referred to the MAW Taker as "milk chocolate" in color. Easy to differentiate especially with the dark brown series 8.

If its not in the bag you have absolutely zero guarantee its the mail away.

What people need to fully understand is that the Bret Hart mailway is the purple heart bret
they are the same
so saying how can I distinguish if it's loose is crazy
there could be loads of bret hart mailaways kicking around loose and unbagged,
but you have to actually want it sealed in the bag
unlike the Taker mailaway which is different, the Bret is not different and can be picked up for $2.00 + if someone sells it listed as bret hart hasbro
but bagged is gonna cost you $500.00 or so, yes you are spending $500.00 on a bag!!!
