Does it pay to be picky in this hobby?? I see a lot of MOC's on ebay but so many of them have warped cards! Is this common w/ 20+ year old action figures??
I am extremely particular when it comes to most things and I just want to know if id be wasting my time looking for pristine cards.
Also, if there is warping/bend, how much is too much in the eye of the collector? Or is it all based on the individual collector?

Most people prefer straight cards. Not just you. So to answer your question, yes.

Aside from certain rare pieces, you can easily bide your time and wait a couple weeks/months for a mint/NM example of something to show up.

I am very particular about mine being flat as well. I sometimes pick up things to fill in gaps temporarily, but tend to search for better ones later on.

You will quickly realize that some figures do show up frequently but that they don't show up in good condition. For example Axe and Smash of Demolition on English cards are hard to find on quality cards.
Texas Tornado is another that comes to mind. I have one Tornado in great condition but has a price sticker on it still. I had ordered another and it was perfect IMO, but I let it set in the box it arrived in too long. The dog took it upon itself to see what was in said box and got ahold of it and ripped the bubble clean off and bit into the figure. Ruined a completely great and hard to find Texas Tornado English MOC. That's my fault for leaving something sit out like that though.
I always try for the most pristine cards possible.

Awesome points by all.
Patience is key here it seems..but so what if it takes me 10+ years to complete!
Wanna have a beauty of a collection!
I'm sure as the years go on it will start becoming harder and harder to find MOC's in MINT shape...especially the ones that are already hars to come by now!

I'm an LJN MOC collector and echo what figurecollector said - the harder to come by ones, I'll usually jump on regardless of condition and then look for better ones later. But the more common ones, I'll hold out for a good condition one. I recently got a bearded Cpl. Kirchner MOC, in not great condition (bubble is beat up in some areas) but since the bearded variant rarely ever comes around, I grabbed it. But the clean shaven Kirchner is on eBay seemingly every week so that's one I'd be more picky about.
