What is the reason that the green card series hasbros are worth so much more and rarer than the other series?

It was coming to the end of production in the toy line and the interest had faded away in wrestling and also the toy line, so poor sales basically. Hasbro didn't really have a interest in the WWF at the time due to the drug trials going on. Basically that. So I gather anyway

I thought it was because they made lower numbers and only released them in places other then the us. I'm probably wrong though

I met a guy in a field some 15 plus years ago who told me he collected and I went round to his house after we'd finished playing football and he had the complete collection moc and he said the green card series were so rare cause during the gulf war a ship containing a load of them had been sunk. Anyone else heard this or know any truth to this?

Interest waned, sales declined, and Hasbro didn't renew their toy license with the WWF at the time. It was the end of the line. By the time the green carded series hit, production numbers were cut and Hasbro has focused on other toy lines. That's all that there is to it. There was no sunk ship that contained a load of them during the gulf war. It's a bogus story. This is coming from someone who had a close relative work at the factory in Pawtucket, RI during that time.

I had them all as a kid except for 1-2-3 Kid, and I live in West Virginia if that gives you any idea. If we can get them here I would venture to say you could find them anywhere.

I love the gulf war story. Completely ridiculous but a great urban myth.

I heard this exciting story about why the green cards or so rare. Hasbro was discontinuing their affiliation with the WWF and made less of them. Mind blown?

We did have them in England Pam
I remember like it was yesterday going into Woolworths with my Dad in summer 1995 and them having massive boxes with " all toys £1.99" on them.
I picked up Gunns, Adam Bomb & Ludvig Borga... Never did find 123 Kid although I know others did.
These boxes were certainly in many Woolworths in the South.
There were hundreds of green carded figures in them - and I think red carded too- imagine such a find today. We could all be millionaires lol

Like others said, the line came to an end in 1994. Same thing happened with the LJN Black card series. Both were the last in the line and available in limited production. I never saw a green card around where I was.
What is interesting and what probably will never happen again, is that the Hasbro line ceased production in 1994 with the green cards, and we didn't get a new line of WWF figures until the Jakks line in 1996. Imagine waiting that long now?
