The Legends line was a big flop. The MattyCollector Legends poll was a joke, and their sales figure data from the actual Legends likely showed them that guys like Arn and Tully weren't really amongst the most popular/marketable guys on the list. Then when the likes of the Rockers and Andre didn't sell well, Mattel realised that making tons of Arn and Tully would be throwing good money after bad, so the production run on them (especially Tully) was cut down. And they still didn't sell well.
Now it's just a case of the secondary market embracing something that was initially rejected by consumers. Similar to the elite ring, which couldn't sell at $60 and ended up $30 and less in Big Lots... People on here screamed for a rerelease for years, claiming the $300 prices on Ebay were proof of how much it was wanted... Now it's been rereleased at retail, and everybody is waiting for it to go on clearance or turn up at Big Lots again.

I don't think they were produced in any lesser numbers than the rest of the Matty line, because if they were Mattel would have charged more on Matty. They always say the lower the production run is the higher the cost is.
Personally I think the reason Tully seemed to move quicker (or seemed to be produced in less numbers) is because all the people passed on Arn hoping to pick them up together needed to buy two Tully's for the extra title because Arn was gone/removed when Tully went up.

Yes. They are. They both sat brand new for $19.99-$29.99 for a good while. And now people realize they're "rare" and because of the tag belts they highly sought after. DDP and Andre aren't "rare" so I'm willing to bet there's the same amount of Arn and Tullys out there it's just the fact that people aren't wanting to get rid of them. Which doesn't make them rare, but hard to obtain. Anyone spending a 100 plus on a wrestling figure loose or moc, belt or not. Is absolutely a fool. So if I bought an LJN Bret Hart MOC for $100 I would be a fool?

Matty did that a bunch of times, taking stuff down when the new items went up, only to put them back up later. It's as if they were trying to create a false demand/urgency among consumers, while also making sure you couldn't ever save on combined shipping. Add in the zero marketing and the broken poll, that model just was not going to be successful. I tried to support it and ordered all but Bundy from that site, but the service sucked. I do believe Tully was a shorter run than the rest, because by then they were already unhappy with sales and pulled Liz to the elite line. The extras would have already popped up on rsc otherwise.

I have a feeling they will be popping up at Tuesday Mornings and Ollie's Discounts at some point this year. That is where I found most of their "sold out" DC items last year right before the holidays. At the Ollie's in Middletown NY I found 12" Movie Masters Superman figures (Supes/Lex/Zod) the 6" MM Kilowag (SDCC exclusive), Fisher Price Super Friends Robin & Hawkman, Young Justice SDCC Superboy just to name a few.

A couple of things to consider here. Just because you see someone putting a $100-200 price tag on a figure doesn't mean it's getting sold. I haven't seen a Tully MOC actually sell for over $100. I was able to get an Arn MOC for $35 shipped just last month. When looking for the rarer pieces, you just need to be patient. They are out there, it just might take you several months to find them at a fair price.

There is no chance in hell of any more Matty Legends showing up anywhere. RSC got the rest of what was left and they sold them at what a I thought was a very fair price. I only see random old basic sets showing up at places like Big Lots. Alot of the reason some of these secondhand stores got these toys to begin with is because bigger retailers wouldnt buy them and they were forced to sell to Big Lots and Family Dollar etc because the economy was bad. I havent noticed any of these types of stores getting in any new toys at all that make me go wow its just junk.

I'm sure they'll release the classic tag belts again with some flashback set.

I started late collecting mattels but I remember buying these for $20 each. Great figs. Can't believe they are fetching as much as $80. I actually did pick up an extra pair of tag belts in a bundle for $64.00. Wish they kept legends line. Hope you find what your looking for.
