So here I am trying to build my wrestling figure collection back after having to sell them all a couple years ago, and I have come across some staggering numbers when trying to track them down. I thought some of the prices I was seeing for the Legends 1 Road Warriors and RSC exclusive Stone Cold were crazy, but after receiving my Defining Moments Ric Flair in the mail and wanting to nab as many 4 Horsemen as I can, I noticed that some of the prices for Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard are completely ridiculous!
I used to see these figures up for order on mattycollector.com and they stayed and stayed and stayed ,uch like all of those exclusive figures did. DDP, King Kong Bundy, the Rockers, etc. were available for months! Now, as I try to add Arn and Tully to my collection, I see $70 up to $100 for Arn from time to time on eBay, and Tully (only three available in the weeks I have been watching, ranging from loose at $99.99 to carded at $180 to $199.99!! WTF?! What on earth make these guys so expensive? Is it JUST those tag belts that seem to be worth their weight in real gold or what? Were they produced in such short numbers that they demand these prices? Am I just that far outta the loop, because I just don't get it?...

The belts and the low numbers they were produced especially Tully contribute to what they are worth today.
Highly doubt Mattel will release them so prices will probably continue to rise.
If I know they would be hot sellers, I would have bought more. Arn and Tully sat on Matty for months...

Its to bad people didnt buy them when they were first released. We might still have a legends line if they had been. people complained so much about paying $30 per figure yet now are paying up to $200...I dont get it. The demand and value on the secondary market must be a reason mattel is slowly introducing more legend figures into retail, but think of what we might of had if it had been a success right from the start!

Yea, kicking myself now.... I picked up an Arn when the prices were good - but never got a Tully.
I'm really hoping they have a boatload of them sitting somewhere and they turn up on Ringside at some point....

I agree- they are outrageous. I need them for my son's collection but not shelling out 200 to get both.

It sucks. I've finally got Arn Anderson on here recently. I've been watching ebay like a hawk in he hopes of finding tully for under $40. ANYONE WHO HAS TULLY FOR SALE PLEASE PM ME!!!
At this point I can care less about the belts

Anybody paying that much is a fool 16x over No they are not. Yes. They are. They both sat brand new for $19.99-$29.99 for a good while. And now people realize they're "rare" and because of the tag belts they highly sought after. DDP and Andre aren't "rare" so I'm willing to bet there's the same amount of Arn and Tullys out there it's just the fact that people aren't wanting to get rid of them. Which doesn't make them rare, but hard to obtain. Anyone spending a 100 plus on a wrestling figure loose or moc, belt or not. Is absolutely a fool.

It's just one of those hobbies that if you're late to the party, you're going to have to pay to catchup. I can't tell you how many figures I've seen, usually in excess, that now have a pretty solid markup on them. There are a few things I understand, E16 Nash and E7 HBK, because those figures were seemingly harder to find, but Tully and Arn were easy if you just ordered them when they were available. It's not like they didn't sit either. I know that sucks if you're trying to go back and collect, but that's just the nature of collecting. The second it hits the secondary market you're likely going to have to spend more.
Maybe once Mattel releases those tag titles again, you'll see the price come down. That will hopefully help the people who missed out originally.

Not everyone collected back then, plus people probably didn't know they'd be the only classic tag belts released so they they didn't buy them because they don't like Arn/Tully. It's their money, don't call them an idiot for spending it.

The only thing that makes the price be so high is the fact that people are buying them at those prices. If no one was selling a Tully or Arn for a high price then the price would come down. I want them as well but no way would I pay that much. I'll just wait and hope Mattel makes them again.

I didn't start collecting Mattel's until May 2011, so I missed out on some stuff that I ended up paying a premium for, it sucks but I had to accept the nature of this or any other hobby. If you want something in your collection that bad, pay up or live without it. I didn't want to pay $50+ a piece for L1 Road Warriors, so I didn't...and now I'm getting LoD for retail and I'm OK with that.

I regret not holding on to mine. I flipped it for $50 and now I'd have to pay more than that to get another...

I don't even need the belts, I would lobe the figures, though. The belts are awesome but they are accessories, end of day, and not only that, they are accessories that would come off when they enter the ring, so they're not even essential to the wrestling aspect of a wrestling figure.
