Can't wait for Vinces video now. Vince's video was posted like two days ago. He did it in a suit, in the old ICO PRO gym. He challenged Maria Menounos (who just did it as well), Donald Trump and Kermit. Sweet, thanks for the heads up.

I know this is supposedly for a good cause but I'm honestly sick of hearing about it already.

It was all i was seeing/hearing lately so I thought it was stupid.
Awareness and raising money for a good cause? all for it. But i look down on the people who have this movement confused. Everyone says "You have 24 hours to do the ice bucket challenge or donate $100 to ALS!"
All these idiots are doing it in order to GET OUT of donating. What gets accomplished then? They're doing it for the fad and not truley contributing anything.
It wasnt until I posted my stance on Facebook before I got informed that youre supposed to Dump and donate $10, or dont and donate $100. So alot of people doing it are very misinformed.
I believe the majority of money is coming from celebritys and bless them for their contributions but the normal people out there need to look at themselves and ask each other why we have to challenge each other to be good people? We shouldnt need coercing or challenges to donate and do good for each other. On the other hand Im glad that this widespread awareness is being raised for something other than Breast Cancer for once.
After making my stance known on facebook and at work, one of my coworkers challenged me and I wont be doing it. Ill be donating $100

I was challenged today. I will be doing it tomorrow and donating the $10. If I had more money, I'd donate more but I'll do what I can.

Ill be donating $100 Agreed about the people who are doing it to get out of donating and missing the whole point. Forget them, there are idiots like that in every part of the world. I don't believe this is about forcing and challenging each other to be "good people". I don't believe that donating money makes you a good person because not everyone has the money to donate $100, especially a student like myself. I think somebody who keeps those affected with ALS or other diseases, in their minds/prayers is just as good as someone who donates. I'm not saying that those who donate aren't special because donating out of your own pocket is very selfless and compassionate, but I just think that this challenge is more about raising awareness, rather than trying to seem like a good person to your peers on social media (and those who are doing it solely for the trend, are doing it wrong). Let's not forget that the person behind this, Pete Frates, is also affected by ALS and started this to raise awareness, not to challenge people to donate as much money as possible. And all things said, it definitely raise awareness.

I'm sure most people doing it are still donating and not getting out of anything.
But for anything complaining, ALSA has made $13million this year, compared to $1.3million. So say whatever you want, but thanks to this challenge they have made 10 times the amount they did last year.
I'd say that it worked.

Let's not forget that the person behind this, Pete Frates, is also affected by ALS and started this to raise awareness, not to challenge people to donate as much money as possible. And all things said, it definitely raise awareness. Well let me be clear about my whole gripe on the donating part. In my neck of the woods in South Suburbs Chicago, damn near everyone (from the numerous videos I see on facebook) are misinformed and simply doing the bucket challenge in order to get out of donating. Thats where my contempt comes from, the fact that the majority (seriously, at least 90%) of challenges ive seen (and from people on my friends list, its at least 50 vids) only THREE people mention having actually donated a dime. I don't ask or expect anyone to donate $100. Nor did I get any pleasure posting that I did, because I feel the best deeds are private and don't need validation. But everyone Ive had to witness do this just irritated me to the point that I had to speak out. People involved should donate anything. $5, $10. They have the numbers of whats been donated thus far, but the number I really want to know is how much money in Ice has been sold across the US this week? Because those people could have easily donated that couple bucks to ALS and not waste it for Likes on Facebook. When I posted my receipt on Facebook, the one comment that stood out simply read "My uncle died of ALS. Thanks for not being a c*nt with a video." These are shared views in my area but nobodys speaking up. Awareness leads to donation; they go hand-in-hand and I understand that. But I don't care how aware you are, If you're not planning on donating then you should not join in on the fun (Nobody's obligated to Donate, but those people shouldn't be posting videos either). Everyone here is doing just that, and basically proclaiming "Yay I did it, now I don't have to donate! Nows your turn!". When a good friend of mine got challenged earlier, I texted him just saying to donate and skip the challenge. His response was perfect: "Wont be doing either. Don't want to be forced into donating. Don't want to be bogus, but I'd rather donate because I thought about it. Without this whole thing, I wouldn't of even thought about it." That's a view I totally respect and couldn't argue with. Because he didn't want to donate, which is fine, so he also didn't want to do the Ice bucket. Ideal mentality.
