Yeah, I noticed a few times that Bill said about possibly expanding the Flashback Elites. I don't think they'll get a separate line - but I'd love something like the regular Elite line expanding to 8 figures per-series: 5 current roster and 3 Flashbacks. Yes! This is an awesome idea. This is a great idea and let me be very clear... This is a good option for us on this board, but it simply isn't going to work from a business stand point. Barry windams and John Cena can't be packed evenly as an example. It just isn't going to work at mass retail. I think Mattel needs to man up and try the Legends (flashback) line again. Call it elite flashbacks if u like...Legends failed because at the time most of us were still collecting CS or were getting out of collecting. Not to mention the line attire and talent levels were questionable. They have Hogan, Sting, Flair, Savage, Nash, warrior, hart etc etc etc now. They have the A level talent to go at it. I would suggest flashbacks come out 3x times a year, with about 15 figures in each. That way u can double pack your hogan, Clair's etc. maybe 4x times a year to much up with defining moments or something. With maybe 20 new figures and then just double pack ur bigger stars.

"Expanding Elite Flashbacks" was clearly the most interesting part of this Q and A, and it was said on a couple separate occasions ... I'm not sure exactly what Bill's preliminary thoughts are, but something like the post above me makes sense (maybe 3-4 separate flashback sets of 4 or so in a year). Either way, this all sounds like good news for us Legends/Flashback collectors -- for whatever reason (packaging, increased demand, better characters), flashbacks are a major success while the Legends line bombed even though they're all using, well, "Classic" characters. Funny how just a few small tweaks can make all the difference ...
Edit: Or, I guess, the other obvious answer would be to have each Elite line have around 3 flashbacks or so per wave. That would be "expanding" them, by definition, without drastically changing the current production models.

This definitely spells good news. The small number of slots would have pushed back a lot of new characters; especially now that Hogan, Flair, and Sting are signed the countless repaints will definitely take up some Flashback space. Not to mention the guys like Jericho, who I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a long overdue Flashback of before too long. I think over time we would see Rude, Bulldog, Snuka, and Slaughter corrected before we saw guys like Earthquake. Now I feel like some of theses guys (like Earthquake, Beefcake, and Koko) might have a better chance. I still hope that they start adding Flashbacks as parts of BAF series, particularly if the BAF itself is a FB (Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Albano, Fuji). May still be a little ambitious for what they are planning however.

Just give me as many versions of Hogan, Sting and Flair as possible, and I'll be happy.

I have several problems around this:
if this means 8 figures in a wave, then expect price increases.
if this means a flashback line, UK stores more than likely wont sell it.
if it means more flashbacks in an elite wave, that means less chance of stars like The Uso's to get figures. :/

And, as someone in the UK, I'd love a separate Flashback line - even if it meant we didn't get them at retail. They'd be easily available from places like Amazon (like the DM Flair) and eBay... I remember ordering full sets of the Legends figures from eBay US - including postage, it worked out about £11-£12 per figure.

I doubt that'll happen seeing a case is 8 figures and certain wrrstlers need to be packed heavily in the case for retailers. So they would have to expand the case to 10 or 12 figures and I doubt they will do it because they would need to design a new case to hand 2-4 more figures. Personally I would like to see the cases stay at 8, but have at least 2 FB in each set, but least on every other assortment make it a FB Wave like e23. So e33 have 2 FB, E34 have 4 FB, E35 2 FB, E36 4 FB and so on.

Ya it would be nice to maybe get 3 waves a year of flashback legends with 4 figures each, tied to the major PPV's like WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and Summerslam with attires from those PPV's.

Hopefully "expanding the Flasbacks" also means stop short packing them!!! I have yet to see Flashbacks shelf warming like Mark Henry, Swagger, and the HHH Tru Exclusive.
Whoever thought that having cases of one guy on the shelves like the HHH TRU Exclusive or the 21-0 TRU Exclusive Undertaker last year should be cuffed upside the head!

No way in hell the Elite line goes to 8 figures. There'd be no way the budget could handle that constantly in my opinion. We'd be getting like 4 elite lines a year. You're not understanding how budgets work. The budgets are decided by the projected income. If Mattel could sell 8 figures instead of 6 every two months, the budget for an elite series would increase accordingly.

No, prices wouldn't go up (outside of the usual price increases)... There'd just be more figures to buy. So the price for an entire series would go up by two figures. Whether they expand the elite line to more per series or introduce a separate series, they'll hit a wall. These things are so expensive and they release so much stuff that completists already have to be filthy rich. If anything, I could see expanding the presence of flashbacks in the elite line... So more series would have 3 current, 3 flashback.
