Ryback or Ryder?
Ryback was main eventing PPVs for the title.
Ryder had the #1 highest selling merchandise.
Both are now basically nothing.

Ryback for sure. The guy was over, just as over as Bryan was a couple of months ago. They could have made him into a star and many believed he was going to be the "Goldberg" of this generation. It's a shame poor writing and booking screwed him over but I hope he can bounce back from it. I don't believe Ryder even had the ball up high to be honest. I knew he was never going to be the main-event guy, but when they cancelled his show and stripped him of his personality, he as a wrestler went down as well.

I would agree with Ryback. I thought he would get the champion by WM29. They really dumped him in the trash.

Ryder. There was a time I thought he was the next big thing in wrestling. And he did it without the machine backing him. If they had, who knows how big he could have gotten?

Ryder. He was on the come up from nothing. Ryback was pushed from the start (as this gimmick) and once you're at the too there is no where to go but down. Look how many people came in were pushed to the title and ended up doing nothing

Ryback, by far. The way they built him up for Hell in a Cell was incredible, and resulted in an incredible buyrate for that show. Then they killed him for SuperPunk and it was all gone. But at least it gave us Brad Maddox, who is still a vital part of Raw every w... Aw, damn.

Ryder. Ryder was actually over. WWE can put anyone they want in a main event match. You can't manufacture what Ryder had.

That gimmick was not going to be the 'next big thing' in wrestling. They dropped the ball with Ryback. He could have been a good #2 babyface to Cena (the Warrior to Cena's Hulk) but they pissed all over him.

At Survivor Series 2011, an event involving the Rock's first match in nearly eight years, the fans were chanting "We Want Ryder" the whole time. He was killing in merchandise sales. He was over as hell. The people were going insane for him. He was never going to be the main eventer, but he could have been one hell of a career mid carder and stayed over. And his matches with Ziggler were fantastic. He got over by himself and had backing from the likes of Punk, Cena, Rock, Foley, and Austin. And apparently that was a problem.
With Ryback, in my opinion, his best stuff came after his decline. He was just a guy who squashed jobbers and the Miz. Yes we was over but hadn't had a real match going over five minutes. He shouldn't have been thrown into the main event picture so quickly anyways. It was an act of desperation because there weren't many options with Cena hurt. It's was stupid planning. Only good to come from it all was the Shield. Ryback still had a lot of tuning that needed done if they wanted him in a main event role.
So in my opinion, Ryder was the bigger ball dropping. If anything, just for mechandising reasons.

Ryback so much it hurts. He is entertaining, has a cool look, a badass theme and a sweet catchphrase. He will have his second coming.

Ryder, ryback was nowhere near as over. Heck ryback wasn't even getting his own name chanted.

He must have meant Super Rocky and ultimately Super Cena. That's the sole reason why Ryback didn't get the title at HIAC, just so Rock and Cena could have their second match at Mania be for the title.

Ryback for sure. This guy was one of the most over guys at that time, but because anyone who went for the title while Cena was champion had to be heel, they turned him heel and that messed up everything Ryback had going for him, he lost so much momentum. Even at Wrestlemania, they should have had him beat Mark Henry at Mania with the Shellshock. Actually, I would have given up CM Punk's 434 day title reign to give the title to Ryback at Hell in a Cell and then at Survivor Series, have the same result that happened with the Shield interfering and Punk pins Cena after a GTS to win back the title. Ryback could have been protected from being pinned and he would have been given the title when he was hot. Now thinking about when Ryback could have won the title back, I couldn't really see when he could have gotten another title reign cause in 2013, you had Bryan getting super over, and beating Cena at Summerslam in order for Orton to beat him, I can't really think of another time Ryback could have gotten the championship belt without screwing up one of the major storylines that was happening at the time period he was over.
WWE also screwed up with Ryder IMO because sure he was never gonna be a main eventer, but they could have had a mid carder for life with how much merchandise Zack Ryder sold and how over the guy was at the time. He didn't necessary need to go up in the main event. He could have gotten an occasional main event every now and then, I mean mid card is better than the position Zack Ryder is in now with him being lucky to even be on RAW from time to time.
