I see the Lana promo is getting same mainstream attention.
Its a horrible wrestling double standard. Everyone in the media calls it fake, but when they do an angle like this, they get pissed. How is this any different than airing 24 2 weeks after 9/11 showing terrorists coming after America? Or blowing up the White House in movies?

I feel that they should kill the angle and fire Rusev.
WWE already did this in the past, anyone remember that Mohammed Hassan guy? He was fired because there was tension in the mideast and his character was Mid Eastern.
With Russia though, we have a clear and obvious attack and loss of civilian lives. I think it would be in VERY poor taste to let the Rusev character go on.

There's just one problem with what you just said nobody dislikes Rusev..They don't care about him at all, he gets no reaction. Lana however does her job perfectly. Don't get me wrong I understand where you are coming from. I just feel like people aren't giving Rusev enough credit. He is stuck with an obviously outdated gimmick and with the help of Lana & rival Swagger, he is making it work. He is VERY talented but for some reason people like to look past his abilities and pay attention to his faults. Oh no I've actually watched him wrestle and he ain't really that good at it. Just my opinion, no need to feel offended.

This all just sets up a big patriotic moment for Swagger at SummerSlam. If WWE can make it a month without gaining too much outside negative press then this will all go according to plan. At which point, the world will likely have moved onto some other current event.
I actually think this feud has saved Rusev. It kind of started when he faced off against Big E and then Swagger and Zeb stepped in and legitimized the entire feud. Lana has been great the whole time but now people want to actually see Rusev get beat, which I don't think was necessarily the case prior to last night. I have no idea where they go with Rusev after SummerSlam, but I think they've done a good job getting to that point with him.

WWE never made Hassan a terrorist or used terrorists. People just assumed the masked men was terrorists, which in turn proves hassans gimmick to be correct.

I don't see how they're connected. That was legit Terrorists attacking England - the gimmick of Muhammad was basically that of a Terrorist who employed guys in black masks to attack The Undertaker. Where as this is just a proud Russian Woman employing a Bulgarian. I'd say 'no, it won't effect the story-line.' Hassan could've been so much better...when he debuted, the gimmick was that he was a proud Middle-Eastern man who is NOT a terrorist, but Americans are stupid and automatically label him as such, and then they go and make him an actual terrorist...stupid, stupid WWE... But they didn't make him a terrorist. Men in ski masks doesn't equal terrorists. You said Americans were stupid for making the same assumption you just made. It would be completely different If they came out in support of the attack/accident. The gimmick is that they're proud Russians, just because Russia or may not have shot the plane down doesn't change that.

I feel bad for Lana getting slammed by media. She's only reading from a script. These are characters nothing more nothing less. Media needs to separate what is real and what is fake.

The Washington post ing blows lol. They tried using real names and I guess they googled "WWE CJ" and they wrote CJ Parker better known as Lana mentioned the plane incident. Lol Lana's real name is CJ Perry

So WWE had two options. They went with the way more edgy and risky one. And are already getting TONS of media attention because of last nights promo.
Let's see how far they can push this thing. This Lana Rusev crap has went from one of my piss breaks to must see television all because of the unfortunate events that happened last week.
I personally cannot believe WWE has the balls to actually push this thing even further. I thought for sure they'd have swagger get the huge win and quietly write the Russians off to save their own ass. They are really taking a huge risk with this one. And I'm LOVING it

Rusev shouldn't lose his job, they were doing what they were told. That would make one hell of a wrongful termination suit.

Ask yourself who really gives a about your feelings - quoted a song guys But seriously everybody and their feelings these days. It's professional wrestling. It's all make believe. CJ Perry isn't even Russian. If anything, blame the writers and whoever approved the script

Another reason why these outdated evil foreigner storylines suck.

Maybe not fire the man playing the character, but def not show Rusev anymore.

I'm sure many here are aware of what happened a couple of days ago when a civilian airliner, a Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over the skies of Ukraine and Russia. Its really tragic and I'm still at a lost for words about what happened. I then suddenly remembered the angle Rusev and Lana have with the WWE with them boasting about Russia and having Vladimir Putin on the tron week in and week out. I'm wondering if this incident will affect the angle? How will it also affect the match with Rusev and Swagger this Sunday? What do you guys think? www.tmz.com/2014/07/21/lana-wwe-alexander-rusev-russia-malaysia-airlines-mh17/Like Muhammed Hassan and Davar, Lana and Rusev are in the wrong place, wrong time. I expect them to be sent packing courtesy of a tag team match against the Undertaker.
