Hello all
I couldn't find an introduction thread so I thought I'd combine 2 into !
My name is Darren, I'm based in the UK and have been an avid collector of pretty much all wrestling related figures for a number of years but have found myself slowing down over the last few years ! my collection consists of Hasbro/LJN/Galoob/early Jakks/ToyBiz WCW range and a few random ECW/Cheapy branded figures on top.
As a child I started to stockpile my Hasbro figures (even if most of them lost fingers along the way) for a rainy day and for pure nostalgia reasons......until tragedy struck and my figures were mercilessly thrown away by mistake ! I had transferred them (as a teenager) into a black sack whilst trying to find a suitable replacement box....and bla bla bla bla the black sack went to the rubbish dump, never to be seen again !!
So, after years of therapy lol I started collecting again back in 1998 ? and am pretty happy with the collection of Hasbro (and Galoob) figures I have amassed again, including all of the green cards (sadly no mail-a-ways yet though) and buying a job lot of figures on the old Yahoo Auctions site for $19, which included a rather minty Dusty Rhodes figure ! Bargain of the century.....which leads me to my point/question !
I haven't bought or sold a loose/carded Hasbro figure in a number of years,so I have no idea the value of anything any more ! I know Ebay is the usual go to place for quick valuations but a brief search earlier showed the same MOC figure sell for £8 one week and then £31 the next, which just sums up how unpredictable Ebay can be at times !
I'm very happy with my storage tubs full to the brim of retro figures and accessories etc and would never sell them....but I do have 17 MOC Hasbro figures that just sit in a box, gathering dust and some value probably and I'm wondering what I should do with them ? Is today a good market to be selling figures? should I sit on them longer? shall I be extra morbid and wait for the next carded figure I own to die and profit like that ? or should they remain in a box forever more ?
If anyone is wondering, the MOC figures I possess are :
Adam Bomb
Razor Ramon #2 (Purple)
Macho Man #4 (white jacket)
Virgil
Fatu
Rick The Model Martel
Giant Gonzalas
Repo Man
El Matador
Big Boss #1
Hacksaw #1
Hacksaw #1 (Spanish packaging)
Brutus Barber Beefcake #1 (Summerslam card)
Superfly (Summerslam card)
Rowdy Roddy Piper
Doink
and a carded Rick Rude, who has never actually left the card but his packaging plastic bubble is split
Decisions decisions !
Cheers for your time guys
