I was just thinking about the canceled '89 LJNs and it got me thinking about the possibility of a planned release of some new tag team box sets. They could have done a Bushwhackers, Demolition, Powers of Pain and even a Colossal Connection. Definetly would have been cool had the LJNs lived on. Could it have been in the plans, had the line continued?

I would assume that if the line continued, the figures would have been there to do tag teams again. Especially since the Warlord already had a Powers of Pain tag poster & bio card.

I wonder if they would've scrapped the actual tag boxes and just kept on w/them as singles.

The point at which LJN's were cancelled is honestly devastating. With LJN coming to an abrupt end in 1989, the company and the line missed out on and incredible surge in popularity in professional wrestling. Imagine if it stood the test of time and saw the Attitude Era, NWO, ECW… Characters like Kane, Austin, Undertaker, the Rock. Customs have allowed us “amateurs” to recreate some of those missing pieces, but you have to wonder how LJN would have evolved if given the opportunity. With the move to the Black Card in 1989, LJN deviated from one of their major staples. Would each series have come with a different color moving forward? With that thought in mind, I am working on a vector recreation of the official LJN card. If you are not familiar with vector, it can best be described as the most pure and clean version of a graphic. Unlike JPG or other file types, vector can be blown up infinitely, without losing any quality. It also allows you to swap out colors very easily. A few of the mock ups I made can be found on my facebook page: www.facebook.com/ljnwrestlingsuperstars. Check them out if you have a minute!

Cool card! Will you be doing some custom mocs with them? It really was such a bad time and abrupt end . This kinda has me wondering about what the next release would be. Here's who I would have in the next wave after the Smash, barbarian etc. Akeem The Brainbusters Dino Bravo The Rockers Rugged Ronnie Garvin Dusty Rhodes

I do some customs... but have yet to put them on a card. I've struggled finding a route to get good bubbles to use. If you have any recommendations please pass them along! Also, for any non-FB uses, here is an example of the cards I mentioned above. I totally redrew the crowd, ring, Hogan and Studd (almost down to the pixel) to make sure it is modern day print quality. I can actually recolor any aspect of the entire card in Adobe Illustrator with one click. I plan on having a little fun with the crowd - and maybe Hogan and Studd - in future cards.
