'Cause when you're done with this world,
You know the next is up to you.
You know the next is up to you.

We fade open to darkness. Quiet and black is all we can hear and see. Suddenly, we hear a door open, flooding the room with light. A shadowed figure walks into the room, turning the light switch on, illuminating the room that is full of boxes with an old, empty desk and chair in the corner, and revealing the figure as former WFWF wrestler “Soulfire” Justin Tyger. Tyger is clad in his familiar attire, a plaid blue button up shirt and a pair of tight fitting Wranglers over his Ariat boots. Tyger looks around for a moment, before digging into the mass of boxes into the room. He rummages around for a few moments, before he stops and laughs.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Ah, there that old thing is.
He grabs a notebook before standing up and staring at it for a few moments, smiling. He turns around and walks to the desk, sitting down in the chair with a pained groan as he lowers. He stares at the book again, quietly. The words “Journal Part 2” written in Sharpie on the front of the book glare, reflecting the light from the room. Tyger grabs a pen lying on the desk as he begins flipping through the book, skimming through pages and pages of writing. Of history. His history. He flips to a blank page, where he stops. He flips back to the earlier page, scanning it as he smiles.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
July 28th, 2011. Has it really been that long? Man.
Tyger flips back to the blank page, staring at it as he taps the pen in his hand. He moves the pen to the paper and begins to write.

Failure. Webster defines failure as a lack of success, a falling short. Failure is the only word that can be used to describe my first run in WFWF. I first arrived in WFWF in 2005, nine long years ago. Can you believe that? Nine years ago I had my first match in WFWF. Sure doesn’t seem it was that long ago. I won that match. It was one of only two matches I won here on my own. I’d be a part of some wins with my tag team with Cardinal, but on my own, just depending on me, I won two matches in the year I was in WFWF. That is embarrassing, and I am ashamed to have had that be my career in WFWF. I’d go on to other promotions and win titles, win tournaments, be a hall of famer, be a success, be considered a legend, but in WFWF? I was nothing but a failure. I have never been a failure in anything before or since, but that black mark on my career as a failure looms over my head. Every time someone talks about or I think back on my run in WFWF, I don’t feel happiness or pride. I feel shame. I feel regret. All I think of is failing. I don’t want to leave this world feeling like a failure. I don’t want to leave this world with people thinking that I’m a failure. After eight years of feeling this shame. After eight years of being a failure. I think it’s about time to do something about it. I think it’s about time to right the one wrong in my career.
I think it’s about time to dust off those boots in my closet.

We fade back in at a scenic lake, setting sun gleaming off the water. We settle in on Justin Tyger, who is sitting in a camping chair staring at the water with a dip in his mouth, empty beer bottles lying on the ground beside him. An empty chair sits beside him, as he grabs a beer bottle and spits in it, as a car pulls up behind him. He turns back to look and laughs as the door of the car opens and a man walks out. The man is Tyger’s best friend and former protégé in wrestling Chris Danielson, known by his wrestling name Mercennario. Danielson walks up to Tyger and sits down in the empty chair.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
It’s been awhile Tyger.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
It sure has, Merc. I got you somethin’ though.
Tyger turns to side of his chair and picks up a six pack, not of alocohol, but of A&W Root Beer. The two laugh as Danielson takes the pack, quickly retrieving a bottle and opening it.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
You always knew the way to a woman’s heart, didn’t you?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
A man’s gotta know how to seal the deal, eh?
The two laugh as Danielson takes a long drink, and Tyger spits into his bottle. The two stare off at the lake in silence for a moment before Danielson looks over Tyger.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
It’s been awhile since we’ve been out here. What’d you want to talk about?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
You know man. I’ve been doin’ a lot of thinking lately an-…
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
Uh-oh, that’s never a good thing.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Yeah, probably not.
The two laugh for a second, before Tyger continues talking.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I just… I’m thinkin’ about wrestling again, Merc.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
Yeah? It’s been awhile hasn’t it?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Since 2011 accordin’ to my book, yeah.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
What makes you want to do that?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
You know man, just thinkin’ over everything and rememberin’ everything. There was a lot of good in there. A lot of great stuff, but every time I start thinkin’ back all I can think of is all the bad, and all that bad just runs back to one place.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
Let me guess, WFWF? You had a good tag run there, you shouldn’t feel so bad about it.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I should feel bad about it. I was such a friggin’ failure in that place man.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
Whoa now, there’s a lot of things I’ve heard Justin Tyger be called and a failure isn’t one of them. You’re no failure dude.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Yeah, maybe when we were runnin’ together I wasn’t a failure. Maybe when we were runnin’ together I was actually good, but in WFWF man, all I was was a failure. All I was was awful. You know me Merc, I just can’t stand for that. I can’t let that be a part of who I am, you know man?
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
I know what you mean, but I think you’re being too hard on yourself dude, I don’t think anyone would say you’re a failure at anything.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Maybe not them, but I sure do, and that voice inside my head tends to drown out the voices of others tryin’ to say somethin’ different.
Tyger and Danielson sit in silence for a moment, one drinking as the other spit, staring into the water.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I just need to change that, Merc. I can’t be happy with my career until I fix that.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
..Well, if you feel you need to there’s no stopping you, I know that for a fact. How you feeling though? No offense but you’re starting to get a little old on me. How old are you now? 39?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Yeah, but you know me, I might be 39 but in my mind I’m 22 again and probably act like I’m 19. Really, I feel good Merc. Ain’t nothin’ really botherin’ me.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
How’s your wheel feeling though?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Ah, this old thing’s doin’ good. It’s holdin’ up pretty good.
As Tyger says this, a taps his left knee, which was replaced nearly 23 years ago after it was destroyed beyond repair in a firefight while Tyger served in the Army.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
Those replacements aren’t supposed to last this long, you think it can keep up with you wrestling?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
I think so. I ain’t ever had a problem with it. Besides, if I’m on borrowed time with it I’ll just keep borrowin’ it until I can’t no more. Hopefully it’ll give me enough time to do what I need to do.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
Well, like I said there’s no stopping you. It’s going to be interesting to see you back in there.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Yeah, it sure will be. Let’s hope it ain’t for any bad reasons either.
The two fall quiet and stare off into the distance, before Danielson looks over at Tyger grinning.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
You told Amy yet?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Aw naw, I wanna put off that battle as long as I can, dude.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
How you think she’s going to take that one?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Nooot very good at all, I’d imagine, but hopefully she’ll understand I just got to.
Quiet fills the conversation again, as Danielson finishes off his root beer and grabs for another one, as Tyger spits in his bottle.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Well, enough about me, what have you been up to, eh?
The two continue to talk as we fade out of view.

We fade back in to the same lake, now in the nighttime. Tyger and Danielson are up, walking to their cars and placing the chairs and bottles inside the bed of Tyger’s ’68 El Camino.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
You still driving this old thing?
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Ya durn right, Merc. I wouldn’t trade this thing in for nothin’.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
Well it was nice talking to you again, man. Hope everything goes how you want it to.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Yeah, me too, Merc. It was nice seein’ you too, I’ll be seein’ you soon. We’ll need to hang out more now if I’m gonna start doin’ this again.
Chris "mercennario" Danielson
You bring the root beer and you know I’ll be there.
Tyger and Danielson shake hands and say their goodbyes. As Danielson climbs inside his car and drives away, Tyger walks to the front of his car and sits down on the hood. He stares off quietly into the darkness, before digging into his pocket and pulling out his cell phone. He clicks around on it for a second, before bringing it up to his ear and taking a deep breath as it rings.
Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Hey dude, you busy?... I wanna talk to you about somethin’… I’ve been thinkin’ and… I think it’s time to come back…
Tyger talks back and forth to the voice on the phone, as we begin to fade out.

Justin "soulfire" Tyger
Well, it’s official. The contract has been signed and the date has been set. For the first time in almost three years, I will become Justin Tyger once again. Those boots that have been locked away in my closet all this time are out and dusted off, and we’re ready. We’re ready to suit up again and get it done. We’re ready to find the redemption that I have been looking for since 2006. Amy wasn't exactly happy with my decision here, but I think she knows this is something I gotta do. You know, Merc brought up a great point earlier. I am getting old. I’m staring down 40’s door this year. That’s a scary thought. I ain’t scared of getting old or anything, but I am scared of not being about to do this anymore. I am scared that I might not be able to fix this anymore. That’s why right now is the time for me to do this. I can’t wait any longer. I’m just getting older and older and the chance of me being able to right the wrongs of my career is getting slimmer and slimmer, but I’ve been told I’m an idiot, and however slim the odds are right now you’re durn sure I’m gonna place all my money on it. I have to. I can’t keep folding. I’m going on in this time, and there’s only one card left to turn. Will that card be the card of redemption that I need, or will it just be another card of failure?
I guess that remains to be seen, but if I ever had a chance to draw the card I need it’s definitely the hand I’m being dealt at Dream Catcher. I’ve been place in a tournament to determine the new National Champion. If there was ever a grand chance to find what I need, I think this is it. Honestly? This is do or die for me. People sometimes spend their whole life looking for one more chance to fix their wrongs into rights. Sometimes they don’t even get that chance. I’ve been given my one more chance to do just that. To gain the redemption that I have been looking for all these years. This is the start of a new Justin Tyger here in WFWF. The failure of before is no longer, and I will prove that starting at Dream Catcher.
Believe me, I know this is just the beginning, just the start of what will be a long and difficult road for me. I’ve been down a few of those roads before in my time. At times I’ve made it to the end and other times I’ve blown up and stranded myself on the side. This time, that National Title is at the end of the road, and I know I’ve got enough gas to make it to the end. I’ve turned myself loose and have started down that road, but there are some road blocks in the way, some potholes attempting to steer me off course.
That first road block comes in the form of Pepe Le Plucha. Talk about two different ends of the spectrum in this match, eh? The returning old timer against the young kid trying to make a name for himself. On second thought, I guess we’re closer on the spectrum than I thought. I guess we’re both trying to make a name for ourselves here. That old name I had in the past should stay in the past, because that’s not Justin Tyger anymore. The new Justin Tyger you will see Pepe will not be that failure without that fire in his soul of ole. The Justin Tyger you will see has a brand new flame burning in his soul. It might have gone out there for a few years, but charred remains caught that spark and reignited, burning hotter and brighter than it ever has before. Through that fire will rise the phoenix that is Justin Tyger, reborn, relit, revitalized.
I wish you the best in the future Pepe, but Dream Catcher will not be your day. It will not be the start of your rise to the top, because my wings of fire are taking flight, and we won’t be held down.
Dream Catcher. How apropos is that, eh?
