I don't remember who or where, but someone recently posted a good idea about putting the title on an established star like RVD to re-legitimize it . Then have RVD lose it right before his next departure to someone like Cesaro and give him a solid push with real story lines around the title for 4-6 months. That was Chip's idea and it was spot on.

I miss the days when the IC Title matches were sometimes, more often than not, the best match on the card. The Rock/Triple H were tearing it up over the title while Austin had to top their performances.

havent seen any prestige to the i-c, u.s., or tag titles in awhile. the tag titles have been getting better since the rhodes brothers won. until ambrose loses or leaves the shield the u.s. title is totally worthless. the i-c tournament was a step in the right direction til everyone that could have made it look worthwhile was eliminated(cesaro). now the number 1 contender is going to be barrett, who already had a boring run, or rvd a part-timer.

when I was growing up, I enjoyed the IC feuds more than the WWF champ, maybe cos Hogan bored me
A good start is to actually have the IC title defended in every PPV that's accompanied with a well thought script etc

A long, record breaking reign will restore it's prestige. Preferably with someone like Cesaro or Ziggler.

The crowd the past few weeks have seemed to be showing more reaction towards Barrett whether it be cheers or boos. I would love for either him or RVD to take the title off of Big E.

I think Sandow could have done wonders for restoring the IC (or US) title's prestige. He still could if they started pushing him again.

Its like everything else at the moment MITB etc.....
1)Vince/HHH need to decide who their Jobbers, Lower Mid Carders(US title scene) & Upper mid carders/guys with prospects(IC scene) are.
2)Whoever gets the belt will need sustained support from creative. Storylines, character development etc.
Now moving the likes of Sheamus etc into the tourney is a step in the right direction......but it cant stop there and be forgotten about.
The US title should be used as a tool to prepare a guy for the Upper mid card where the IC title is the prize.
Also treating guys like jobbers for 6 months then pushing them for 2 weeks and giving them a belt before they lose interest again a month later?
That has to go TODAY. It is incredibly destructive IMO.

The Intercontinental belt lost its prestige back in 1999 when it changed hands every month and held by guys like Val Venis, Godfather, Road Dogg and Chyna Couldn't agree more, although it seems they are putting more focus on the belt now, which is good. I'm kind of expecting RVD to win this tournament and win the title and then enter a feud with Cesaro for it.

The IC title needs to be right under the WWE Undisputed titles.. Whoever is IC champion needs to be considered to be a legitimate threat to the current WWE Champion.

Barrett is showing more charisma now then the rest of his tenure put together. He's hot right now, he's having great TV matches and the office is behind him right now. Strike while the iron is hot.
RVD on the other hand has looked sloppier and a step behind what he looked last year. And this is coming from someone who was super happy to see him back.

I hope Big E wins at ER. He just needs more time on TV.

I wasn't a big fan of the Bad News Barrett gimmick, but now that he wrestles I'm cool with it. Also, Barrett smiling and laughing every time we see him is awesome.

He is......as long as creative don't lose interest in him like they have every other time they have pushed him.

In order to build up the prestige of the Intercontinental title a few things need to happen:
1. Daniel Bryan needs to start ONLY carrying the WWE Championship Belt 2. The US title needs to become defunct 3. The mid card needs to be elevated --- In Order for a mid card title to be a stepping stone to the main event the mid card has to matter. Feuds with a real compelling story line really have to take shape in order to make the mid card meaningful. 4. The intercontinental title has to be the path to the WWE championship. --- in the 80's and early 90's win loss records were talked about on WWF tv quite often. These records were applied to championship opportunities. Guys who were winning there matches were eligible to be in the title picture. If WWE were to start talking about wins and losses . . . and focus less of random number one contender matches, this would in turn make guys who were winning not only more prominent, but more popular. This would then be an example of the title making the wrestler rather than what we have now which is the complete opposite.
