Paul Heyman is Steve Austin's Podcast guest this week, they discuss great managers, ECW, Best Promos & Best Matches, Does this guy ever give a bad interview? He's in contact with CM Punk but they don't talk about WWE (supposedly)
They finish up the interview by teasing a Match with Austin against Brock Lesnar if the box office & creative was right, So I gotta ask would you guys wanna see Lesnar vs Stone Cold for WM31!? (Could maybe fill a void the streek has left at next year's mania!?)

How fitting! He's always talked about wanting to put Lesnar over since he left. And facing a guy managed by Heyman, who managed a guy that left like Austin... Promos would e so heated.

No. Austin was Punks guy. If Austin comes back I want him with a guy like Punk that could carry him to a great match if Austin can't go as well as he used to. Look at Brock/Taker compared to Punk/Taker. Brock needs a younger guy that can carry a match and still bump around for him. Austin/Brock would be too much of a risk IMO. It could potentially be as bad as Brock/Goldberg.

Absolutely. Never thought about it much until the podcast, but as soon as Heyman brought it up I realised how perfect it'd be. How do you top breaking the Undertaker's streak? By bringing the (arguably) biggest star ever out of retirement and destroying him too. Seems like Austin has some ideas about it that'd interest him too. I'm all for it.

I don't think Austin's body could handle a match with Lesnar what with his past neck problems.

I mean I'd definitely watch it but it's not nearly as intriguing as Cena or Punk vs Austin. I mean the straight edge heel vs the beer chugger is still the best story that I think can be told with Stone Cold at this point. Two elite level talkers, two opposing gimmicks, and a guy in Punk who can compensate for any type of ring rust with Austin. I know people are butt hurt over Punk leaving or whatever, and it's the cool thing to abandon the Punk ship, but I don't know that I've ever felt two guys were so perfectly lined up to each other than Punk and Austin.
At this point, Brock has good matches in gimmick matches like his Extreme Rules match with Cena, or with smaller guys telling the David vs Goliath story like with CM Punk from SummerSlam, which are his two best matches since returning. His matches with Triple H were mediocre and his match with Taker was bad. Austin hasn't had a match in over a decade. Brock isn't the right guy. Cena vs Austin would undoubtedly have that clashing eras feel to it, probably more so than Rock vs Cena, but I don't think it would be nearly as interesting as the Punk feud, and would likely feel more generic.
I honestly don't want to see Austin comeback for anything less than CM Punk. I'm not apologetic for that, it's the dream match I'm dying to see. There is one guy I have envisioned Austin facing since 2009, and it's CM Punk.
Austin's a lot of talk though. He kind of does this thing every year where he hints at potentially coming back and he never does it. So I'll believe it when I see it.

That's the sole reason I want it to be Punk. If its Cena we get a bland build up and repeat of Rock/Cena (unless Cena is heel but its never going to happen) where as with Punk they could have an actual story to it. Play the whole you are everything I am not card with Punk and there you go.
Cena wouldn't be bad but come on it would be the same feud with the same guy twice.
Lesnar would have a fun build but lead into a bad match and a dangerous match when considering Austins health from 10 years ago let alone now.

If his body can take it, sure.

Great minds man, as soon as I heard the podcast I thought how perfect. Austin's been dropping hints for years about one last match but only if all the cards were in place, They could draw heat from the 2002 "incident". ESPN interviewed Brock in 2012 before he came back & he said then he would only come back to face Stone Cold now obviously that changed but the foundations been laid, they just gotta build on it.

Idk. Brock is too stiff for Austin to come back to. I know Austin would work a stiff match but it's too risky. It looks great on paper and would tell a great story but it just won't be what we want it to be.

No thanks, like punksnotdead mentioned, it's been over a decade since Austin's last match...add to that Austin and Punk is a universal feud that people can get into...Brock and Austin would just be a shambles given the health of Austin for Brock to consider...

If Austin vs. Lesnar happened, you can expect to never see Punk in a WWE ring again.

Maybe it'll be a reason for it to happen, slap in the face for Punk... ....because Lesnar deserves that match? Lesnar was around for what....2 years before ditching the WWE. At least Punk was around for 7-8 before heading home. Punk deserves the match A LOT more than Lesnar. It'd be a hell of a lot more entertaining too.

If Undertaker's body could barely handle a match with Brock Lesnar, I shudder to think what Austin vs. Lesnar would look like.

The build up alone on Lesnar vs. Austin would be great, not so sure on the match, it could go either way with me in my opinion. I'm sure Lesnar respects the hell out of Austin and I'm sure Lesnar would get in better shape than he already is and could pull off a great match. I did listen to Heyman's interview with Austin today. I would absolutely listen to any interview Heyman's involved, so I loved this interview more than I did Austin's interview with Cena and with Dutch Mantel/Zeb Coulter

Your right he hasn't had a Match in 11years but look at it this way that's 11years of healing, of course he's likely to get injured in a Match with Lesnar, When the rock came back he got a catalogue of injuries and you could argue he's in the best shape of his life. Austin isn't a dumbass he knows he's probably gonna get injured but if that doesn't bother him why should it bother you? ^-^

I get your line of thinking, and it would do massive business for sure...It doesn't 'bother' me; as I said it's just my thoughts on the matter; as you asked for.
