After listening to so many interviews with successful wrestlers talking about how the modern day talent is afraid to take chances, I started thinking about Zack Ryder. Here's a guy who was capable of getting recognized on his own which resulted in an increase in merchandise sales for the company and crowd reaction to another one of their stars. However, after his momentary 15 minutes of fame, he has become their main "jobber" in putting new talent over, such as Alexander Rusev being the latest example. What I can't wrap my head around is why. Here's a guy who has a great look, impressive build, and stands out as a character based on his appearance alone. Yet he continues to be buried on TV and go on without any character development. When he released his 2nd episode of "Last Rezort" he talked about his goal to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion and even some of you guys laughed at that idea. My next question is why? I understand he's not a realistic competitor yet but why not over time? I believe if you're not looking to become the World Champion in the WWE then you're just wasting your time. I just can't wrap my head around the idea as to why nothing has changed with this guy who in my mind, has enough look, desire and ability to become a key figure in the company.

I believe most people have said his biggest down fall is that he can't act his way out of a paper bag. I don't think he's nearly as bad as some do, I've been pulling for him for a long while now. Guy could have been huge if they didn't screw him over..

The problem with Ryder is that they pulled the trigger way too late. You can learn acting chops as you go...look at what Cena did from "RUUUUUTHLESS AGGGGGRRRRRREEESSSSSIOOOOONNNNN!" to what he can do just off of the cusp now. But Ryder was over for months, WWE ignored it. When they finally gave in and gave him the title, it was too late. Fans realize the WWE would never care so why should they?
I was afraid the same thing was gonna happen to Bryan after all of those months of obscurity. Luckily the fans did not give up on him like they did Ryder though.

The RAW crowd after Mania this year gave Zack Ryder ZERO reaction. He's done.. If a crowd full of marks and fans from across the globe, after one of the biggest WrestleManias of all time does not cheer for you.. It's over.

Not so much gave up, just stopped caring. They were behind him for months and just lost interest when the WWE kept ignoring his existence, so by the time he won the title and started his feud with Kane and Cena, the fans were just kind of "ehh...whatever" at that point. Popped when he won the title, then just stopped caring again. The WWE just acknowledged they may have had something way too late in a business where you have to pounce on the flavor of the month and try to keep them over. It does not always work but it would have with Ryder had they done it sooner I think.

To be honest I actually think Ryder would make a great heel. Sure as a face you can't really take him serious cuz he comes off a bit goofy, but once he cuts the crap and becomes real serious you won't be able to miss him. If you watch the 3rd episode of "Last Rezort" you can see a bit of a heelish Ryder.

As a guy, I like Ryder, but as a character and performer he doesn't do anything for me.

I dug Zack Ryder. He was over in an insane way. At Survivor Series 2011, The Rock tried to address the crowd and all they chanted was "We Want Ryder." I don't think he would've made it to the main event as, even though he was super over, he's nothing special. However, I feel like he should've kept a spot in the mid card. There's nothing wrong with having a guy like Ryder putting on decent matches in the mid-card. Guys like him are why the United States Title should become like a European Title, for the lower mid-card guys to give them something to do.

He should have never stopped his show. I guess WWE started to edit them hardcore and it probably stopped being fun.
His character got stale and it hasn't changed much. He just needs to be repackaged.
I would dig a faction of Miz, Ziggler and the Major Brothers. Just a bunch of talented wrestlers who haven't had a push in awhile.

I honestly have no idea why he's character died off. Sure he was a bad actor but isn't his gimmick a Long Island Doucher? They all over act. I think he was more than good enough in the ring to at least be utilized better than this. I would love to at least see him & Hawkins reform. But with gimmicks. It'd give them both something to do, and give WWE another legit tag team. Maybe Epic Z can shed some light on this? Since you know... He's Zack Ryder.

I haven't given up on Ryder, but I've given up hope that WWE will ever really care about Ryder. It's frustrating in the sense that I think WWE has plenty of talented guys but they don't seem to ever want to build stories around them, especially at the midcard level. Ryder's a total package guy at the US or IC Title level. He can hang with someone like Big E, who is a worse talker and actor than Ryder if we are comparing notes. I do hope he can do this heel turn on the Youtube show and then feature it on TV, and then hopefully get something to do every week. I just don't get it. Why are these guys being over looked? Why in 8 or so years has Kofi never been given anything substantial outside of the Orton feud, which was fantastic by the way. Why has Damian Sandow gone from one of the most entertaining talents on the entire roster, to one of its premier jobbers. Why, for the love of all things holy, is Dolph Ziggler losing to guys like Jack Swagger and Bad News Barrett, who is on push number 9,000 at this point and still won't get over. I want to see these guys in feuds, pushing their character and doing something other than losing meaningless matches. That's why the audience has ADHD because the creative team doesn't commit to anything anymore. I mean for sakes, they tried to turn the most popular babyface on the entire roster heel back in January to get him away from the World Title. The show is good right now, really good. The IC Title tournament is fun, and Evolution vs The Shield is awesome, but WWE picks the guys they want to succeed and when someone else tries to get over, or does get over, they seem to make every effort to fight it off as long as possible. CM Punk, Ryder, Bryan, WWE fought all 3 of them off for as long as possible. Unfortunately for Ryder, Punk and Bryan forced the issue with insane talent but Ryder, who is really on a much lower level, wasn't able to fight that machine because he was essentially fighting for TV time and a midcard status. For me, there is no reason on earth why Ryder couldn't be featured every week if Santino can march out there with Emma and be ing embarrassing every week. To me, there is absolutely no reason Hawkins and Ryder couldn't be a tag team together again if we can get sh*t like Los Matadors, the PTPs and Rybaxel. To me, there is absolutely no reason that Zack Ryder can't get TV time when a clown like Adam Rose is getting vignettes every week on Raw. Sorry, but I see worse talent, that won't get anywhere near getting as over as Ryder was in 2011, getting opportunity after opportunity, while Ryder is working his ass off to try and get squash matches on Raw. I don't write the show and my opinion doesn't matter, but I do wish someone would throw this guy a crumb right now and let him run with it.

Ryder's fault.
They gave him the ball but he double dribbled, the whistle blew and he got sent back to the bench.
The guy couldn't act. At all. It was awful.

He needs a gimmick change. The Jersey Shore act was so 2011

I was really happy to see the push he was finally given but there is no way WWE will give him a shot again anytime soon. After Rusev beats R-truth next week I guess he'll just beat Ryder again until he's given a comedy gimmick by winter time. The best shot Ryder has now is jumping to TNA and teaming with The Bromans.
