It is the end of it all. My final night as I now know the truth. Super Brawl is the last night. For me, it’s about ending the miserable run and showing that I should never have returned. Much like putting something down for the count, that is what I am doing with my career. My fate had already been sealed as I had no choice. We are not in control of fate at all. It happens no matter direction we go. I’m ending it at Super Brawl as it is destined to finally end.
All that opened up was in a room that had the lights dimmed. The chair was set up antique and quite sturdy. The room itself was empty as it had been just a new room that soon would have items stored inside of it. ZMaster had been there as he had moments of reflection. The thought of not being able to perform up to par had been slowly but now had eaten him alive a bit. He sat on the chair wearing his dark blank pants and sleeveless red shirt.
"This must be the end of it all as it had been told," ZMaster thought to himself seemingly frustrated with everything that had happened since his return.
"My return has seen nothing but defeat happen. It has shown that perhaps I had become the very thing I didn’t want to become and that was a shadow of my former self. The talent has changed and while they have careers going, mine is done."
ZMaster had ended his thoughts as they no longer seemed relevant. He shrugged his shoulders but still had thoughts running through his mind about whether or not he could go out there and still compete. He looked to the ground and saw the shadow and while it was just that, it seemed to be a reflection of the run he has had in the WFWF getting beat at every turn. Every loss was like salt on the wound.
"No use staying up as it is getting later," ZMaster said to himself. "I need to rest right now. Perhaps then it can clear my mind a little bit. No question I’ve had frustration since arrival and it seems more and more that I need to just step away altogether. "
ZMaster had left and gotten out of the room. He closed the door and then had gone into the living room. He proceeded to go to the stairs. He went there and had been going up there as it was time to get some rest. He had fallen asleep rather quickly.
No more than two hours had passed had his mind began forming up a scene. It was as if he were standing there. He was not alone as there was another person just standing there. It was as if they were nothing more than observers and cannot alter the past. It was as if they were invisible to the eyes of others.
"Why are we hear?" ZMaster asked a bit confused. "And who are you?"
"Just call me an observer and nothing more," The observer said. "We are here to watch your past and you are to learn from it. There is a lesson in all of this."
ZMaster and the observer were watching the events unfold and there was some recognizing going on. He was a bit shocked to see what appeared to be his younger self signing his contract to become a part of the WFWF. At the time, he was younger and was very inexperienced as a wrestler.
"That’s me!" ZMaster shouted with some shock. "I remember this as I was starting off. I was not that effective and after a few matches, they recommended that I would go down to WFDC later on to improve upon my skills and become the competitor that I could be."
"Correct,"the observer said with no emotion shown.
They continued to watch as the events that transpired had shown him competing in the WFDC. Watching everything unfold as the younger ZMaster had obtained some success as he had become a champion there and was eager and proving that he could rise to the occasion. While still young, he had something that made him different.
"Take mental notes as this is necessary in your lesson," the observer said.
ZMaster nodded as he had taken them mentally. While he had nothing to write with, that was not necessary. Seeing the past showed what happened as the WFWF had become its own transformation. The WFDC that he knew had been merged and that left him back in the WFWF. He saw that his younger self looked upon it as a second chance. He started competing using what he learned and eventually it paid off. He saw the moment of victory as he claimed his first title being the WFWF TV Title.
His run was short, however, as he lost it to the man that had been an early rival and nothing more. He had disappeared for a few weeks with time to rest.
"I remember now. It was about proving something to not just myself but to the WFWF that it was no mistake keeping me on the roster," ZMaster thought about it as a note. "That person had been a thorn on my side. It was the rivalry on becoming WFWF World Heavyweight Champion."
ZMaster had continued observing his younger self with the observer. No emotion was shown at all. He continued and reached a point of going from WFWF TV Title status to WFWF International Title status. It was the championship that meant that it would become inevitable to challenge for the World Title. Whether or not there was success was another story.
"Note that you had something to prove back then," the observer said. "You would continue to go forward in your career. So far you’re seeing the rise."
ZMaster watched his younger self continue on the rise and capture the WFWF International Title. As the events continued to unfold, it showed another rising even further. Whether it was by fate or just pure coincidence, the WFWF World Heavyweight Title was vacant and needed a new champion. ZMaster watched as his younger self was selected. He had seen him rise up and eventually compete for the WFWF Title. He won it by way of a triple threat match but his old rival returned.
"That was my proudest moment on becoming the World Heavyweight Champion," ZMaster said to the observer with pride. "It felt like finally making it after all this time. It all happened in a single calendar year."
"Yes it was great for you then but continue to watch happened afterwards," the observer said with no sign of emotion.
ZMaster watched his younger self fight but eventually lost the WFWF Title. Though he did obtain the highest honor of the Hall of Fame, it seemed that it would have been the end. Fate had decided it was not truly time to end it all. He eventually decided to complete his career by doing something that hadn’t been dreamed of doing and that was being a Grand Slam Champion. He had the tag team titles but that was it. They were never lost as it was simply vacated.
After doing that, it seemed that there were on and off returns that seemed to look as if it were a disaster. Since that time, he had not been able to obtain what he once had. It was as if it left him in the dust. ZMaster looked at it as eventually it started with the years on what happened as there was a rise and now there was the fall and one that seemed to be continuing.
"You had a rise and you fell fast," the observer said. "Perhaps a case of too much too soon. There is a lesson as I said. What do you suppose the lesson is?"
"If I had to guess, it would have to do with not being able to be my younger self perhaps?" ZMaster asked.
"Close but not quite," the observer said. "Your past was defined as having a fire. Perhaps you need to find that fire to go out with a bang. I know that you desire the victory and want to end it right. You’ll never be who you were in the past but you can learn from it. Take this and do what must be done to have your fall end."
ZMaster nodded. As he had done that, everything had started fading into complete darkness. It all changed back to reality as it was back in ZMaster’s room and he was starting to wake up. He was stretching and getting ready for the day. That dream he had left him with some deep thought as it pertains to the final match of his career.
"That dream was a bit odd," ZMaster thought to himself. "It was but a reflection of the past going at a rate. It was like watching my younger self as what I had done at that point in time to now. I wonder what it all means."
ZMaster’s thoughts had paused and then had continued briefly as the dream had confused him. Though the dream seemed to go fast, it had a meaning that perhaps confused him. He was getting himself ready for the day as he had to undergo some training not just physically but mentally. That dream had made him think but also everything that had transpired had been a run that had to be considered forgettable.
"I wonder if it has something to do with a subliminal message," ZMaster thought.
His thoughts continued but had perhaps had gotten it figured out. He may have finally realized the truth of himself as he had known he had become the shadow that he never wanted to become. His thoughts finally continued with them being renewed a little bit.
"Perhaps the realization is that I cannot try to be my old self in any way," ZMaster thought. "Part of it had a message about not trying to be the one from the past. Perhaps it has to do with accepting the reality. I am not the one of the past but of the present."
ZMaster’s thoughts had ended and now had begun to speak. His expression had been one of bitterness and anger. His run in the WFWF had frustrated him and he knew that the WFWF was no place for him anymore as he had become a mere shadow. Sure, people may have appreciated his return but the reality is that he has fallen so far below expectations that it had become laughable.
"I am not the one from the past," ZMaster said with a hint of bitterness as it had been clear about his return. "You desire my mask at Super Brawl? What are you really after? I bet you probably really want to say to yourself that you retired me is that it? I have news for you; nobody ends my career but me!"
"Dex, you challenged me and you got your wish," ZMaster said. "You’re fighting someone who has nothing left to lose. My mask is not that important. It’s more about you wanting me to fight you. Taking your mask will mean that I beat you and nothing more. It is not my concern. The fact is that I am retiring and I will not let you win so easily. Super Brawl is where it ends because I said so and it is by choice."
ZMaster paused and then continued to finish up with what he had to say. He does have a sense of being determined. Outwardly, it can be seen but inwardly is another story as there is still a feeling of not being able to perform and obtain one final victory.
"Dex, this will be my last match ever but I’m going out with a big bang," ZMaster said with some determination. "You are in my way and now I see you as a target. You’re not fighting the ZMaster of the past. I am not that person. I am the ZMaster of the present. I still know a few tricks to go out and win and at Super Brawl, I will end my career with a victory. Anything less is unacceptable. You’ll get your fight but at what cost for you? Be ready Dex as it all ends."
ZMaster had continued his training to keep himself ready for Super Brawl. Can he truly end his career the way that he had desired with a victory? Should he fail, will this be perhaps the darkest point of his career that had come into existence? If he loses at Super Brawl, does that mean that he had completely embarrassed himself? Can he take victory? All this and more will be answered as ZMaster gets in the ring for the very last time at Super Brawl. Everything fades into complete and utter darkness.
All that opened up was in a room that had the lights dimmed. The chair was set up antique and quite sturdy.
