LJN Iron Sheik, I must have been around 4, and I remember my mother resisting buying it because of the IRAN on his pants, she relented but told me not to show my father. I wasn't aware of what wrestling even was really, didn't start watching until 90-91, Sheik just looked like a classic carnival strongman and I wanted him. My interpretation of the IRAN on his pants was that clearly he liked to run. This was the explanation I offered my mother, that she had to either accept or attempt to teach a small child about US-Iranian relations in a toy store.
edit: I just remembered something, later on when I started watching wrestling in 90 or 91, I collected Hasbros but I didn't connect the LJN Iron Sheik as a wrestler, he remained put away with toys from when I was younger. Then this mustachieod man named Colonel Mustafa appeared on my television alongside Sgt Slaughter. This gave me de ja vu and I retrieved the LJN Iron Sheik from the cupboard to compare the rubber figure with the man on my screen, which confirmed my suspicions, Col Mustafa and the Iron Sheik were actually the same man. Mustafa was Sheik, Sheik was Mustafa. There could be no doubt between the bald head, the mustache, and the curled boots. This was the first time I realized that all was not as it seemed in the World Wrestling Federation.

I can't recall exactly what my first one was, but I know the first one I was truly excited about was a Hasbro Red Card Bret Hart. I couldnt believe when we walked into the TRU and one was hanging on the pegs! He instantly became the champion in my wrestling world lol.

I didn't even know who he was at the time, but I got a Brutus Beefcake LJN figure in a lot from a yard sale. There was also a Chuck Norris karate Commando, a Batplane from Kenner's 1990 Dark Knight collection that was missing the canopy hatch, and some of those sci-fi figures that are escaping me now that had interactive videotapes to fire at with the vehicles. Anyway, Brutus was just a giant for Batman to punch. I didn't officially get into.wrestling for a few more years.
