I'm gonna do my best to get a quality piece up by tonight. I've been running myself ragged for the last couple of weeks picking up a pair of extra shifts in addition to helping my friend with his fence business on one of my days off. After working in an office for a year and a bit, flipping the switch to building even just 85 feet of fence takes a lot out of a person. I should have something up sometime after work this morning/afternoon though.

you fear what you don't understand, and hate what you can't conquer? um k Death matches are something I'm pretty passionate about if they're done correctly. I spent this past weekend at IWA Mid South King of the Death Matches and had an amazing time.

Prophet of AshDo you have a favorite death match of all time? I've never been a huge fan but maybe you can point me towards one worth watching?

Prophet of AshDo you have a favorite death match of all time? I've never been a huge fan but maybe you can point me towards one worth watching? Necro Butcher vs. Toby Klein from King of the Death Matches 2003 or 2004. they were throwing VCRs at each other's heads. JC Bailey vs. Drake Younger from King of the Death Matches 2006 will probably remain the gold standard for barefoot matches for a long time. Megumi Kudo's retirement match against Shark Tsuchiya is fantastic Most recently, John Wayne Murdoch and Nick Gage went 45+ minutes at KOTDM 15. I'll have to rewatch it on blu ray, but live? it was the craziest thing I've ever seen and I don't see how it'll be topped or spoiled for being the best "crowd brawling match".

I've never been a huge fan of the whole death match thing. That being said when it's actually done well it can be highly entertaining. I remember watching IWA:MS when Punk was there. I think I had a couple of early 2000's KOTDM tapes actually.

Haven't watched all that many death matches, unless you qualify Callihan/Younger at PWG Is Your Body Ready? a deathmatch. Guerrilla Warfare matches are always pretty exciting though.

For an Old Deathmatch where they build to spots: New School: I saw Jun Kasai wrestle last time I was in Japan at a DDT show, although it wasn't death match stuff I could tell he must be that kind of guy just by how f*cking scarred up his body was. The match I saw was: Akebono, Sanshiro Takagi & Toru Owashi vs. Jun Kasai , Antonio Honda & Hocrapango That flap of skin that came away from Kasai in that match was pretty raw. Got to say I'm still not sold though. Just seems pretty mindless to me. All of the selling etc was sub par and even the way they took each other's moves was poor. I'll try Schneider's suggestions and get back to you.

Just watched the Megumi/Shark match. That was awesome. I've not heard of her before but Megumi is not only hard as nails but all of the moves she did, and even the way she took moves looked great. Also did she invent the Vertebreaker/Cop Killer/Kudo Driver then? I love that she had her retirement match and didn't come back after it.
