I have every rp I have written since I turned my main character Messiah into Michael Kyzer. Anything I wrote before that point, I have deleted due to its awfulness. I have saved somewhere around 300 rps written over the last 11 years.

This will ultimately lead to me doing an eventual character dissection of every character I've ever written. I dare say I'm probably not done creating new characters, but I feel like I'm doing the right thing in reacting to my growing boredom with DK by just turning it completely on its head. If all goes well, I'll open up the opportunity to sort of alternate between characters as I see fit, should I never lose the taste for writing.

I have 3 RPs on my computer lol.
The rest are either somewhere on this board or deleted over the years of proboards updates.
I can still remember the premise of my very first RP though. My character has always been Drakz, and even in the first RP, whilst it may have been generic still has some kind of relation to the current character. There's never been a huge overhaul or reinvention per say, and I'm pretty proud of that in retrospective.

May as well work backwards. Told you it'd come to this. Daniel Kirkbride was one of four characters I sort of drafted while I was laying low after Shawn and I finished waving our Horns of Gondor at one another. I've always been an advocate of the idea that the best stuff one can write is the stuff one already knows. In high school, I dated the same girl for three straight years, and her family were devout Baptists. I got involved in their church by way of circumstance (namely, they needed a bassist for the church band and I was in the midst of a crisis of faith and open to trying new things), and so I wound up spending the better part of three years with their youth group, which was a mixed bag of high school kids looking to find some sort of comfortable middle ground between being average teenagers and living a life devoted to Christ. That's, in a nutshell, who DK is to me - an amalgam of those kids who DIDN'T decide that faith was for them (like me) and wound up carrying that with them into adulthood. Early on, my goal was to see if it was possible to make any sort of splash writing a character who, face or heel, wasn't going to come out and rake his opponent over the coals or make arbitrary challenges and puff out his chest to establish dominance. I'm pretty happy with how that element turned out, given that I'd argue that as of End Game, short of this f*ckin' dry spell of losses I'm in the midst of, I've sort of broken even with DK to the degree that he's probably right around the place where DB was before I let that all come crashing down. Next up is the real test, for me at least. Usually when I get burnt out on a character I write them off, take some time, and start from scratch. In a sense, I'm doing that with this next card, and it makes me glad to have seen Rated R note that my EG rp felt like the end of a sweeping chapter in DK's story, 'cause that sort of validates that by doing what I've got in the tank for DK next, I'm pulling off what I intend to. I've still got a TON of things I need to explore with this character before I'm done: his parents, his past, that Malkav dream I planted way back, and so that sort of gives me the ground work to go on and get a few more chapters out of him. One of my biggest regrets with DB was not resolving the story between him and Natalie. If someone were to ask me how that panned out, I could drop the story on them right then and there, but I never got it down on paper, and that's just one of the loose threads I'm kinda bummed that I never got to finish up. It's probably part of the reason why I've got this stupid interconnectedness to all my stories - Brennan showing up in Kirkbride's world, Vieira having a past with Brennan's dad (did I ever post that rp?), Vieira having retained Avalon as an agent - it's all connected, so I guess in that sense, I haven't been too flighty with my characters. Brennan's next. I had a LOT of ideas that never came to fruition with him.

To be honest, I have probably lost at least a third of the rp work that I've done over the course of...13 years or so. Considering most of it was pretty bad overall from a character development and presentation standard, it's not a huge loss, just interesting to see how far I've come as a writer and the crazy ass journey I've been on with the Josh Dean character.

Yeah Drakz, Josh Dean is the only character I've used. Like SYE, I've played with the idea of other characters, but never did much past the a small outline and a couple moves.

I have used 5 characters over the years. All of them have intertwined at some point except one. Kyzer was my first and primary. I just feel the urge to be creative and try different things so new characters get created.

I've only ever used Trace in the WFWF, but over in the XWA I've had five. One was Trace, three were part of Trace-led stable called the Cult of Tomorrow and the fifth was a russian powerhouse called Eleric Krause who was just all about beating people up because he wanted to prove his superiority. I'm disappointed I never got to do more with Krause because I had some cool ideas for him, sadly now I feel like I don't have the time to really explore that at all.

I think when it comes down to it for me, time was an issue for me on exploring these characters. I think the other factor was just my desire to get the most out of my primary before moving on.

I just love writing as Drakz too much to stop lol.
I get to be the c*nt I always want to be, as for the most part I bite my tongue in reality.
Eventually I'll implode and go on a killing spree.......
I wonder how this post would be viewed if in 10 years that melt down did actually come.
Deep.

On a less foreboding side note the card is ready to go. I'm just waiting on something that involves announcing the tag teams for the tourney.

If it can be directly tied to you? Oh yeah... Welp, you're f*cked boss man. I watch a lot of the high profile trials in this area or follow the updates in the course of federal cases. One of the most evidence laden days for this f*ckin' Boston bomber hobknob was the day they went through like two years worth of his two Twitter accounts, which was decidedly more interesting than listening to Aaron Hernadez's fiancé put on a display of the youngest recorded case of Alzheimer's in history. I think that's partially how they built the case against these two Juggalo d-bags that broke into a woman's house and hacked her to death and maimed her daughter for fun - Facebook and all that.

Erica and I watch a lot of crime dramas, Law and Order, NCIS, CSI, etc. But even as dramatized as everything is on those shows, it still astounds me that people don't cover their tracks very well. Then to top it all off, the defenses their lawyers provide is laughable at best. Yet they expect miracles (ie: OJ). Speaking of which, I think Dave Demento is going to need a good attorney. GET ME JOHNNY COCHRAN! BTW DB, Hernandez's girl wasn't an Alzheimer's case. That broad was just dumb. Typical athlete standards, the dumber and easier, the better.

We just got a kick out of her in the office... "I don't know..." "I can't recall..." "I'm not sure..." Also, Cochran's dead, so I think suffice to say, so is Demento.

Post by Ace Bennett on May 6, 2015 19:20:48 GMT -5
I've considered scrapping the Ace Bennett character and returning with a fresh start, but honestly I wouldn't know what to do to make it different from Ace. Especially later on, I tried to base Ace's personality as an exaggerated version of myself, so making something different than that would be kinda tough for me. I mean, I don't have multiple personality syndrome or anything like that but his general mannerisms and the way he speaks was largely based on myself. So anything new would likely be largely the same. Part of me wishes to come back to see if I can ever reach that level I thought I could, but reading my latest stuff, I kind of am thinking I may have reached my peak as a creative writer. I'm proud of a lot of my stuff though, and I really pushed my mind creatively, especially during the multiple personality storyline and stuff with Raider that I'm really happy with. Just thought I'd reminisce a little since everyone else is.
