Who the hell cares? Honestly, if you're that offended, DON'T watch the show. No one is putting a gun to your heads to watch it.

In 2005, my friends and I were at a RAW show.... we were in Row 3, immediately behind the little "box" where the ring announcer & timekeeper sit. Howard Finkel was the ring announcer, I think for the show taped before RAW? Anyway, since we were sitting directly behind him, after the opening match started I politely asked him to sign my ticket... "NOT DURING THE MATCH!" He shouted, never once taking his eyes off the action that was happening in the ring. I immediately realized that I had made a big error in "wrestling etiquette" - and that Howard Finkel thought I was extremely rude for not paying attention to what was happening in the ring, and instead asking for an autograph. I've never forgotten that night, and how Howard Finkel taught be to be respectful during matches - what happened on Monday night with the announcer's doing a "selfie" immediately reminded me of my experience with "The Fink" - and how disrespectful their behavior was.... Shame on them.... I wish "The Fink" was there to yell at them! *UPDATE 12/21/13 I actually met Howard Finkel today - he was doing an autograph signing in Allentown, PA - I brought my JAKKS Finkel to get signed.... I reminded him of the night where he said this to me - he actually kind of apologized - he said he didn't mean to be so forceful - but he was being respectful to the wrestlers in the ring, and also did not want to miss his cue - he said if the match had ended and he was busy signing autographs, he would have gotten in trouble! We then joked that finally, seven years later, I got my Howard Finkel autograph1 It was a great conversation with a true wrestling legend!

Were back to Cole is Raw. This shouldn't be the thing I'm remembering after a show and a PPV.

I miss the days when the commentary didn't take away from the action in the ring. Like Austin said on his podcast, the commentary just doesn't flow together with the visual of what is being seen in the ring. It's bad.

Some of the responses on this thread make me think that wrestling isn't for me anymore. Anyway, what J12 said is correct. And it is a massive deal. It was incredibly disrespectful for one. But most importantly, it shows there is no level this company won't sink to in an attempt at appearing 'cool'. The entire show is basically about their social presence and the wrestling takes a back seat until there is a 'This is awesome!' chant.. at which point Cole reminds us that it is 'Monday Night RAW live tonight from _______' and encourages us, yet again, to join the conversation on Twitter. The entire company is a farce now. It's ridiculously boring to watch. And there's a new generation on the IWC who seem to lap it up, simply because this roster (which is absolutely phenomenal) continues to deliver in pointless, poorly built matches.

Yeah... If the commentators can't be ed to pay attention during a match - what are they saying to the viewers? 'It's ok not to watch this' Shut up.

The commentators are seriously at an all-time low right now. JBL was a breath of fresh air when he came in for King but as soon as Jerry was recovered, he instantly became just as idiotic as the other two. It's just sad how terrible they are. Tom Phillips and Alex Riley would be a better option at this point. I yearn for the JR/Paul Heyman team.

I swear all those mountain climbing trips JBL has taken have permanently messed up his brain. All that thin air up there has made IQ drop about 50 points. He says the most idiotic cringe-worthy things. Mrs. Fandango when Summer Rae comes out is the worst.

to be fair,he doesn't have a choice. it was revealed many years ago that Vince and/or other members of creative are backstage yelling through the announcers headsets, telling them what to say.

We are living in the age of social media and the WWE is taking advantage of that. The WWE was just promoting Twitter by having them do that selfie..

No not at all. Easily the most ignorant thing I've ever read on here. Republicans and Racism go hand in hand well republicans since 1980 on because they switch their ideal Those that favor wealthier white cacausian are republican and that's racist Oh give me a break, that is completely ignorant statement to make! As a Republican, that is a complete stereotype that is portrayed by the media against us. Just because Obama is black and Republicans disagree with him doesn't mean racist. Reagan stood up for pay equality for his black staff and against affirmative action because it degrades the race to be given treatment because they were seen as inferior by democrats. The GOP also stood for civil rights, they passed the 1964 Civil Rights Act because of a GOP Congress and through Democrat opposition. Read history next time before you make ignorant statements dude!
