Yea, WD does stand for Western Digital. I use Seagate for my wrestling belt pic collection. So when you connect the USB plug from your hard drive to your computer, it won't show up in in the My Computer section?

If it doesn't show up in the My Computer section, try reloading your computer and replug it in. Also, did any software come with your hard drive?

That would definitely cause a problem, try and find the appropriate driver.

Yes, try reinstalling the missing drive for external hard drive. If after everything you do and you still can't seem to get it to work I would contact Western Digital asap

That I have no idea, never had a driver problem before, contact someone at WD, there should be a Help section on the site

Go onto the site, go to support then under support go to the downloads section then in most popular downloads select 'Universal Firmware Updater' the site will instruct you after that.

To facemeat: i can only see my internal drive, not my external one To Super F'n Jimmy: how am supposed to back up stuff in my external HDD, even though I can't reach it? Hmm, so you're not even seeing it in Disk Management? Do you know if your computer's recognizing it *at all*? When you plug and unplug it, do you hear the typical "chimes" that accompany plugging and unplugging USB devices?
