The LJN Slaughter mold for this was sold on the bay years ago - I'm sure the seller bought it & is making casts of them & painting it. The paint on that figure looks way to new for being 30+ years old resin. I'm sure more of these will turn up.

this is a very well done fake, as you can see with the mold, the back of slaughters tank top does NOT have the Hogan stripe holes in it, a very small detail that caused this seller to lose out on a very convincing fake, details people, pay attention to details, the arm positioning is also completely wrong compared to the mold, also, the whole lower body belongs to Davey boy smith as do the arms and the left hand, not sure whose right hand they used for "sarge" here or the head, perhaps a heavily modded ric rude as his figures face resembles sarge a bit.. this figure was made by kit bashing a custom together and then making a mold of the kit bashed figure and then a cast was made, which is why it looks seamless, a good idea, but DEFINATELY a FAKE!!!! wfigs.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wfnj&action=display&thread=220750

Great info Mr. Mojo. As for the sunglasses, they look like a Jakks or that era type piece and they are not accurate to Slaughter. He wore the wrap around kind with the thin back piece.

The singlet top IS accurate for the era, as you can see in the video below. HOWEVER, it is an obvious custom piece and many of the other details noted attest to that fact. As Ozz noted, removable sunglasses just were not happening on an LJN. Removable hat sometimes, but not two accessories like that on one figure and never sunglasses. My first thought when looking at the images provided is "modded Davey Boy Smith body". The face is not Rick Rude, though; I can't quite tell where they got that head, but it does look good. It is a nice looking figure though, and would fetch a nice price if sold as what it is: a very well done custom. The story about it being a "long lost prototype from an ex-LJN employee" is total fiction, and will turn off serious buyers.

That is NOT Davey Boy Smith.... Davey left are is up not his right. Also Smith's legs are much thicker and does not have the "underwear" tights that this Sgt figure clearly has. The head is 100% fresh and not mad of anyone else , and the detail on the back of his slinglet ,his whistle and belt are not that of an average custom maker . sunglasses and hat i dont know

Yes, the arm position is reversed, but It does appear that the arms and legs have been modeled after the Davey figure. The entire thing appears to be done in one piece, as I can't see any seams in the pics, indicating it was probably a straight custom mold based on existing figures. Again, it's a well made custom figure. Details are right on

Golden hulk, I didn't say slaughter never wore that kind of shirt!!! I said the known legitimate LJN unreleased slaughter mold that stom owns DOES NOT match this figure at all, again, pay attention to DETAILS!!!

Well, Terry Funk had two accessories: hat & branding iron.
However, I'm also in the camp of the ones that believe it's an awesome custom. Unless the former employee is proven by age and a picture...

IMO, the seller is an acomplished artist and model maker who worked for LJN, looking at past auctions some are legit, some custom, which she admits!
Also notice the t cats protos, which i believe to be re cast as the details are poor.
Re, this slaughter, I asked Mary months ago if she had any LJN wwf protos for sale, the answer was No, coupled with the fact this proto looks very very pristine i wouldnt bid if your after a genuine proto from the line. Just my thoughts ;-)

This has been a pretty interesting post. Personally, I had no doubt that it wasn't a prototype, but instead a very nicely done custom. However, reading everyone's theories on what the pose was based on, parts used, whether it's a legit prototype, etc. has been fascinating to follow. Despite how this all ends up, it's been refreshing seeing something like this being discussed respectfully without all of the bitching and bickering that has happened on a few of these other boards recently. Great post, folks.
