Well, its not the DX line up we were all expecting, so I'm dissapointed to say the least. But I will be buying Taker, HHH & JBL. I may be getting Savage too depending on the attire MDT comes up with. On another note, I do think its sad that we have been reduced to getting all giddy over just a few "Flashbacks" a year. Especially when half of them already have an Elite or ten. Dont get me wrong, Its a good set and all for us Collectors but Id have to say that it feels a bit like a bitter-sweet victory. Yea, I long for the days of Jakks with a completely new series of Legends every couple months... Maybe if this Flashback set does very well, they'll do more like it?

^ because it's easier for Mattel to make FB of guys like Christian, Undertaker & Shawn Michaels. Guys who don't need to be signed to "Legends Contracts" Plus the WWE has a say in who gets made, and they know casual fans would want a cool Shawn Michaels 30000000x more than they would want a __________ (random 80's or early 90's mid card star) flashback Oh, I can understand why Mattel release more FB's of current/popular guys... it just sucks for those of us wanting more Legends-type figures. With Matty no longer doing any Legends, the Flashbacks are our only way of getting them now... it started of brilliantly (S12: Papa Shango and Kane, S14: Big Bossman and Booker T, S15: Yokozuna), but now we're down to what...? One in every seven figures? I'd have loved it if Mattel could just do a guaranteed 2 Flashbacks every series - one first-time Legends type guy, and one earlier version of a more current/popular guy.

Agreed. That would make me alot happier. If only Flashbacks could get there own series...

Flashbacks will never get their own series because they used to be the Legends line. Retail doesn't want a full Legends line.
The demand for Legends just isn't there. Flashbacks are surviving because they are popular characters with limited numbers.

Flashbacks are surviving because they are popular characters with limited numbers. ...but (if I remember correctly) WWE didn't want any modern wrestlers in the Legends line (which would have ruled out a LOT of FB's: Kane, Edge, Booker T, Lawler, Undertaker, HBK, Christian, The Giant, Triple H...). And also, they didn't have a lot of the big names that they have put out since (Bossman, Yokozuna, Diesel, Mankind, Bret...). I'm sure if they re-branded the Legends line (something like "The Flashback Collection" or "The Classic Collection"), with similar packaging to the Elites/current FB's - and mixed in earlier versions of current/more popular guys with fan-friendly 80's/90's guys, it would work.

Would have much preferred JBL as Bradshaw in his Ministry Acolytes attire!

You are correct. Mattel couldn't use current guys with past iconic attires with the Legends line so it did limit the popular choices that were available. I would love a Flashback line but I don't think it's ever going to happen.

I'm so pumped about a new Taker. Would've been nice to throw in Shawn from WM14.

Im stoked we're getting a new Savage but the "new headscan" thing kinda worries me. In one way Id like to look at it as "we captured his 80s likeness better then the first time" but in another way Im thinking it's his "Team Madness" WCW look that he had at the end of his career, which in turn would make the figure the equivalent of hot garbage.

^ it's not. Mattel has already confirmed Savage represents the "Original Boom Period" of the WWF/E, or The Golden Era as it's more commonly known. It's going to be the unreleased Defining Moments Savage from WM 3.

I always wondered why there is an elite prototype of Macho in light purple trunks (like his battlepack)....but his WM3 figure was the one that was cancelled?
why was that made?

I think we've got a damn nice assortment of Flashbacks. Are we forgetting there's been already 10 Elite Series with at least 1 in each.
12 Kane/Shango 13 Edge 14 Boss Man/Booker 15 Yokozuna 16 Nash/Diesel 17 Mankind 18 Lawler/Undertaker 19 HBK 20 Christian 21 HTM 22 The Giant
and now 23 has FOUR
since Legends went away I think they've done a pretty great job with keeping up Classic figures

^ I just wish there were more of them (at least 2 per-series)... that way, we could get more first-time/ Legends-type guys out. Maybe Mattel are testing the waters with E23, for a stand-alone FB series...?

We've gotten a lot of decent characters but one thing that made the Classic line sell so well was some of the 80s start, which clearly by the list, have been almost completely skipped. HTM & Bossman are the only exceptions. Bossman was a hot seller and HTM has flown off of RSC. Clearly 80s legends are wanted but instead we're getting people from 94 and up that arent selling as well (ala HBK, Christian, ABA Taker, Diesel)

Bossman didn't sell well at first. Neither did Edge.
Its the same story with alot of Mattel figures tho. They shelfwarm....then all of a sudden they disappear and everybody wants them.
I think the reason they have been doing mostly 1 FB per set....is that when they do 2.....one sells way better than the other.
e12--Everyone bought up all the Kanes. I saw Papa Shango's rotting away forever.
e14-- Saw plenty of Bossmans......rarely saw a Booker T
e16--- Rarely see Nash.

I think what happened is that they were thinking about making the b.p savage as an elite by itself. Then punk wore the savage trunks in tribute and wfigs blew up with 1000 we want tri star cm punk threads so they decided to make it a basic battle pack.
So glad I managed to get my hands on one
