It feels like I constantly have to tell people who are still in high school NOT to worry about popularity or being cool. The popular and cool kids and people who bullied you will probably end up working at McDonalds or the local gas station. You have nothing to worry about.

You just need to bleed the weed. You know...choke Kojac, put in some hand work, hit the ham, firm your worm, riding the great white knuckler, scratching the itch, shucking bubba, varnishing the cane, being your own best friend. You get the idea. I'm crying right now. I don't think this is a problem anymore. ;D

Dude, high school is an incredibly temporary situation. You have to go there - and that's the attitude most kids will take.
I can tell you are the kind of person who invests effort into other people, but the majority of kids in high school will befriend people that they can gain something from.. whether it be a cool reputation or whatever.
If you want people who actually like you for you (true friends, as they are called) then the only way is to be yourself.
Take it easy, relax, be yourself and have fun.

If you work at being popular, then you're obviously not all that "cool" to begin with, maybe they've realised you were being fake.... Or you actually are popular but now someone else is more popular so they have to be their friend or they wont look cool anymore. It could be something totally different, maybe you're one of those annoying people who have to be talking to someone all the time to assert your dominance in the popularity hierarchy. I dont know you as a person so I couldn't even begin to suggest legit reasons why people would turn against you, but from what you said about your prom date then I think it's likely that you pissed someone off somehow, and they told someone who told someone else... Honestly I'm sure you're a great guy, we can all just guess why this has happened but I suggest cutting your loss' and moving on there's 8billion more people out there for you to get to know and be popular with

Helping put Mr. Kleenex's kids through college, playing cards with one hand on the table, measuring for condoms, manning the cockpit, letting some air out of your tire, wedding rehearsal, shooting some seeds, roughing up the suspect. I apparently have a very immature mind, because I laughed. I laughed alot at these. More than a 26, almost 27-year old should have.

It's called moving on. Those people have moved on and so should you. It's nothing against you, you just weren't remembered the way you thought you were. Plus it was high school, what did you expect years later everything would be the same? Most if not all of those people probably have children, husbands, wives, jobs, they don't have time to think about what happened years ago.
I had a lot of friends in high school, haven't spoken to them since I graduated and probably never will again. Nothing personal I just moved on and grew into an adult.

The popular and cool kids and people who bullied you will probably end up working at McDonalds or the local gas station. You have nothing to worry about. Yeah, because making an honest living is SOOOO terrible. Are there better jobs? Of course there are, but in a time where the economy is in the ****ter beggar's can't be choosers. I work at a convenience store to make ends meet, it's nothing to be ashamed of, and people like you who have it in their heads that it's something to be looked down upon really piss me off. Do I do it because I love it, or it's glamorous in any way at all? No. It pays my bills while I'm working toward something else. I didn't go to college, it was my own choice and one I'm happy with. Unlike a lot of my old friends who did, and can't find a job in the field they majored in - and are still in debt up to their eyeballs, I live in an apartment of my own making enough to live as comfortably as I need to. I'm a self taught professional photographer and I've worked with several toy companies and distributors while still working a humdrum "crappy" job. Just because OP here doesn't worry about being popular anymore, doesn't mean he couldn't be stuck working in "dead end job" too. I don't even know why you felt the need to link all of that together. Honest work is honest work, fast food employees, truck drivers, gas station clerks, pizza delivery guys, waiters and waitresses, short order cooks, cashiers/stockers/unloaders at supermarkets and department stores - they, along with a lot of other people, all help make this country and world function. OP, you need to get over yourself. What was cool last year, might not be this year. Be yourself, not what you think you, "should" be.
