The thread creator is obviously an immature peon, but anyway. It's hard to hear when anyone has to retire, but if it means his well-being he should.

You guys all do realize that retiring means you get paid and don't have to work anymore right? What world do you live in? He has to retire from active competition in the WWE, that means WWE would have to pay him the remainder of his contract, but that is all. When his contract is up, he has no job, and no salary. Rey Mysterio most likely has a job for life with WWE if he wants one, whether he is wrestling or not. Plus, he's made many millions of dollars over the last ten years. Unless he's been very stupid with his money, he never has to work another day in his life. If retiring now means Rey gets a better quality of life physically for the future, I'm all for him retiring. It's not like there's really anything left for him to do in wrestling anyway. He's had a hell of a career.

Let me make something perfectly clear to you people: For starters, Im not a f#cking kid so you guys can stop with that chatter..... Do I ACTUALLY wish for a man not to be able to provide for his family, or course not. Do I ACTUALLY want this man to retire because Im tired of seeing his figures warm the shelves, of course not.
But the fact of the matter is, Ive never been a huge fan of Rey (he WAS a great wrestler), I certainly dont like seeing his figure clog up the shelves, and I really do personally think he should retire, not for figures, but for his own good. Guy has been on TV like 6 or 7 times in the last 2 years....
As far as you guys actually getting mad about these posts, please keep getting mad, cause Im going to continue to make controversial posts when I feel like. Just like the WWE, 90% of the sh#t is entertainment, so please guys, stop with these BS responses about how its wrong to wish bad on another man. This guy has, or should have MORE than enough money in the bank to retire AND feed ALOT of people in his home country, should he feel the need to.... Not to mention the royalties he will recieve for life off of merchendising. Dont feel sorry for this guy because he has to retire after 20+ years in the business...

You guys all do realize that retiring means you get paid and don't have to work anymore right? It's not WWE "FIRING" Mysterio.. it says Mysterio could possibly retire after this injury. The man is not going to NOT provide for his family. He's Rey Mysterio!! Worked since the mid 90's in the pro circuit as one of the top faces of the companies in which he worked. Give the OP some slack. I agree that i'm fed up with Mysterio figures and will be really relieved to know he won't be wasting spots in lines or clogging shelves in stores. After all the complaining about Mysterio figures being made the past couple years, it would be very Hypocritical of most to say otherwise. One thing I will agree with the board on about getting on the OP is posting useless topics like such under a Mattel figure board, involving nothing to do with Mattel. At least next time say you can't wait to not have to see Mysterio figures clogging the shelves. Actually, wrestlers are legally considered independent contractors. Therefore, Rey is his own business in a way. So, unless he's been saving money and paying into some kind of retirement fund, he's not likely to get paid by anyone. If he had been paying into a retirement fund, he will be paid out of that, which would likely be considerably less than he is currently making. It's not like he would get a full salary to sit on his ass and do nothing. Also, if you have seen his home in videos, he clearly has a big expense right there. Add that to two kids who haven't even reached college yet. And if you think being a popular wrestler for a long time means you will have a good retirement, Ric Flair says hello.
