Us collectors do a lot of hating. This part's wrong, that attire is off, etc. Myself included. We expect perfection and when we don't get it, we complain. It's the nature of the business & the hobby.
So to bring a shred of positivity back, I gotta give Mattel some props on something. Since the beginning, the Elite line has been pretty amazing, but with one major flaw. I've bought every Elite, and without a doubt from Series 1- whenever at least 2 of my figures in each set had loose ankle joints. So loose to the point they would not stand up on their own, to which I needed a little touch of superglue to solve the problem. I grew quite tired of spending $16-$18 on a figure only to have to superglue the damn thing so it would stand up on it's own.
It was brought up in many Mattel Q&A's...and they always said "we are aware and are working on it." I think I can safely say Mattel has done us all a solid and fixed the Elite ankle joint problem.
First they took care of Cena (who was BY FAR the worst). The new foot/ankle combo is damn near perfect. And since pretty much E17 I haven't had one single figure with a loose ankle. The joints feel tighter, more stable. Like they improved the pin/hole for the whole line.
So a big thanks to the team for listening to us about a problem, and doing what they could to correct it. Of course, maybe I'm wrong...maybe I've just been lucky, but to me the last few Elite sets have just "felt" different.
Are you guys finding the same things as I am?

Unlike the previous company, Mattel not only recognizes their mistakes but admits to them and tries to fix them. I have to give them credit for that. I do wish Mattel would be more "open" to future lineups and people under contracts (mostly for Flashbacks) as I think that put a lot of excitement and hype into the Jakks line back in the days but it is what it is. As long as Mattel continues to make non Attitude Era Flashbacks, they will continue to keep me as a collector.

I don't know about others, but all of the new Elites I've bought from E17 on (minus the divas and ABA Undertaker) have ankle joints that don't move forward & back at ALL.

I agree with you except my Flashback Taker, his legs don't move PERIOD, makes it almost impossible to get him to stand. That's the only figure I have really ever had a problem with out of all of them.

Probably the last Elite I got with Loose Joints was E13 Sheamus

That's true. Only thing i've been dissapointed with as of late is the amount of errors with Elite 19. (paint apps, Kanes loose legs, etc;) but it possibly could've just been that they were rushed out in time for the holidays.

I love the figures Mattel puts out, they are a million times better than the uniform bodied Jakks where everyone had 24in pythons. There will always be something to complain about, but with Mattel there will also always be something to praise. They may not be perfect, but 9 times out of 10 they provide us with excellent quality figures. At least in my experience.

Yeah I loved Mattel from the start. Didn't care for a few of the head scan choices on some guys (Jack Swagger, Tyson Kidd, Jinder Mahal etc) but I always supported and loved the whole product. Glad as well that they finally got the ankle joints right after 17 series lol

I've had pretty decent luck I guess in that I never really had the loose ankle problem in all the Elites I've purchased, except for Cena. Every single one, and the BOPPV Bret Hart with that same mold. I really appreciate the new mold for his shoes. It looks so much better, like real shoes, and it's very solid. Finally I can have a Cena in the front row instead of tipped back in the back row to prop against the shelf.

Mattel is great. If they sucked, I wouldn't give them money.

Not sure on the ankle joint problem because all of my collection is MOC. I have noticed a lot more paint errors in recent Elite lines (E18 & E19), but that could be due to the holiday rush.
Other than that I personally think Mattel has exceeded expectations.

I remember in the first Q&A video for the TNA line someone asked if the figs were going to be in scale. Jakks reaction: "We've always had problems with the scale." Well, then fix them!

Yeah it sucks that all of my figures I open prior to Elite 17 have loose ankles too -_-, the only think I'd love now is if we could have an Elite line of just flashbacks and then a seperate line for current superstars, I know it will never happen but one can dream.

Mattel has done a really good job, improving on a lot of things since they started. Cena elites are the best example of improvement over the years.
However one thing still needs to be done. International Shipping from Mattelshop/Mattycollector (I thought they said they had a solution.. What happened to it?)

Yeah I agree with you. We should definitely should give them some props! The kickpads joints are perfect on every of my figures that has kickpads and the standard boot ankles seem to be fixed as well

Mattel does deserve some props. They have done an amazing job and got me back into collecting figures. Hell I've been spending all my money on them!

I've never noticed anything that bad with Mattel figures, I actually hope they keep the WWE line forever.

Before Mattel, I felt bored with figures because half the time they didn't have tight joints and felt cheap (of course this was at the end of Jakks WWE line). However, when Mattel came into the picture it didn't fell as if the figures were made with the wrong parts or had loose joints. There was something that felt perfect about their figures so I gotta give Mattel credit where credit is due, they have made some amazing work and I will continue to be a supporter of them!
