Basics are good, the Elites are great.
But there are a lot more Basics available and they're cheaper.

They both look good standing on my shelves, but basics look better than Elites. I hate how all Elites in the trunks look like they have reverse wedgies.

When this thread was first made I thought to myself... "Where's PJ with his front wedgie comment?" But yeah, I completely agree, Basic trunks are just shaped better*.
*Yes, I'm fully aware of how weird that sounds.

Can someone put up pics of an elite and basic figure of the same wrestler to compare them?

I respect both of you guys on WF but I couldn't disagree more with these statements. Look at wrestler trunks in real life, if you wear tighty-whiteys, where do you see that god awful T- crotch? The human anatomy does not look like that. Some guy was showing off his Brodus Clay collection and the t-crotch crap looks horrendous on the Basics. Elite trunks are very similar to what vintage 80s G.I. Joes were like - better range of motion and quite frankly look so much better that the T-crotch in my opinion. I can get the argument where Basic fans dislike the Ab-crunch articulation point, but Basic legs are utterly useless and T-crotches make it look so cheap.

In a perfect world all toys would look like GI Joes. But as much as you dislike the T crotch I can't stand the upper thigh joint. To me the T crotch is kinda hidden in the trucks as oppose to in the skin. That's my biggest issue with Elites in general, I like their to be minimal joints on the flesh as possible. But I can see both sides of the coin and that's why I'm glad Mattel gave us options.

It too me a few days to get back onto my computer since Christmas. Don't get me wrong I like the articulation of the Elites better. but when I look at an Elite in trunks there's too much bare hip/thigh showing in the front. If they designed them like Jakks DA's (With part of the trunks molded to the hip balls...then Elites would look perfect. Especially when they give guys like E13 Cody and E19 Ziggler those larger thighs...having some trunks molded into the hips would have made them look much better.

I love basics, but lately I've been preferring elites. Have actually stopped buying them, I'll only buy the divas from now on.

I love the ab crunch and crotch piece thighs and knees on the elites. I think they look wonderful. I feel basics body are too flat and dislike the t-crotch as well as the jakks overlapped upper thigh.

I think it depends on the figure, character and how much I want their figure. When I know a figure won't have an Elite version, I get it. It also depends on the figure itself, for example lets say Brodus. Imo, his basic looks better due to the fact that it doesn't have as much articulation joints as the Elite. I think chubbier figures looks better as basics and make it easier to pose. Sometimes, I buy basics for the headscans. Sometimes I buy them because I can't wait for their Elite. Overall, I prefer the Elites due to their articulation and accessories but I do buy basics every now and then.

You guys are spending way too much time thinking about your figures' crotches! Speaking of which, have you guys ever picked up one of your figures and you accidentally touch the bulge in the front? Does that make me gay?

Like marino13 said, it's good that Mattel does indeed have Basics and Elites because it's a little bit of everything for all of us.
What we can all agree on though is the waste of a line they call Flex Force.

i started with basics, now i only have a few and have mostly elites. I still see some basics i want but i can wait till elites get released Like marino13 said, it's good that Mattel does indeed have Basics and Elites because it's a little bit of everything for all of us. What we can all agree on though is the waste of a line they call Flex Force. My walmart is still flooded with these crap toys. I wish they would just throw them in a huge pile and burn them all.
