WWF RAW is WAR For some reason I really like the layout you have. Great opening segment with Commissioner Regal and Linda McMahon. Benoit versus Angle in the cage match tonight should be awesome, expecting a triple threat match at King of the Ring though. Decent way to start things off, glad Raven went over Saturn. Hopefully Raven doesn't get lost in the shuffle during the Invasion. Enjoyed the segment with Molly Holly and Spike, but I have a feel Molly will be put through a table sooner latter. Loved the chaotic Hardcore Championship match with eventually Test running in and stealing the title. If DDP is still the stalker I hope he doesn't get buried. Hardy versus Hardy in the King of the Ring was a great move like in real life, Jeff going over was for the better. Jericho going over Big Show to get in the title match is great, and loved the attack from Austin after the match. Expecting the same to happen after the main event tonight. I'm liking all of the recurring segments tonight with Molly and Jericho/Benoit/Austin, authentic for the Attitude Era. Great ending to the six person tag with Spike and Molly being left alone, only to kiss! D-Lo with the win over Albert is alright even though he was pretty irrelevant at the time, I assume Credible will be defecting to the Alliance once it forms. Bit of a typo in the Christian versus Kane match, you wrote out Edge versus Kane in the header. Liked the interference from Rhyno, a Hardcore bout between Kane and Rhyno would be fun. Just wanted to say I'm really looking forward to Angle and McMahon at the pay-per-view, and I hope the final two comes down to Angle and Edge or Edge and Christian. Fantastic steel cage match to close out the show with the headbutt spot to end the match. Jericho making the save from Austin was good, the triple threat at King of the Ring should be amazing. Overall, a pretty packed show, looking forward to King of the Ring in a few weeks. Just watch out for typos. It's not a big deal, I make them all the time, but just watch out.

June 14, 2001 @ Baltimore, MD
Smackdown comes on the air with a pre-taped message from William Regal in his office welcoming us to the show and saying he has some things to address first before we get to the action. Regal says that Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho were victorious in their matches last monday on Raw and under the 'suggestion' of CEO Linda McMahon he announces that the WWF Championship match at King of the Ring will indeed be a triple threat match, Stone Cold Steve Austin, the defending champion, against Benoit and Jericho. However Regal says that Benoit and Jericho better not think they're going to just rest for the next 10 days until the pay-per-view; they are still the Tag Team Champions and are still obligated to defend those belts when scheduled, such as tonight when they will defend against The Dudley Boyz. Regal then thanks us for our time and tells us to enjoy the program.
We then go to the intro and head to the arena as usual as Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us to the First Mariner Arena in Baltimore. Cole mentions that the last two King of the Ring qualifying matches will be held tonight and we'll find out the last two men to join the six who have already advanced. Tazz then buzzes about the main event, saying Benoit and Jericho got their shot at Austin at the pay-per-view but they've got to take care of their own gold tonight.
= MATCH #1 = | Edge & Christian vs. Crash & Hardcore Holly | Cole reminds us how both E&C are in the second round of the KOTR which will be held next week. Edge and Hardcore start things off and lockup when Edge whips him and hits a backdrop. Edge whips Hardcore into a corner and Christian helps Edge double-team Hardcore then takes over without a tag and chokes Hardcore with his boot. Edge tags back in for some more stomping when Hardcore starts to fight back but Edge regains the advantage. Christian tags back in and hits a Russian legdweep for a near fall. Hardcore starts to fight back again when Edge nails Hardcore from behind so Hardcore decks him but Christian nails him with a Slop Drop for a two. Christian draws Crash in to distract the referee while Edge helps with a double-team before taking over. Hardcore rallies again but Edge rakes the face to stop that and drops him on the ropes before tagging Christian. Christian then goes for a piledriver but Hardcore counters it into the Alabama Slam and both men are down. Christian grabs Hardcore's ankle while tagging Edge back in and Edge hits a clothesline followed by a snapmare then slaps on a chinlock. Hardcore fights out of it then comes off the ropes and connects with the dropkick. Hardcore makes the tag to Crash who takes it to E&C then dropkicks Edge and drills Christian with a DDT. Crash sets Christian up for a tornado bulldog but Christian crotches him on the top rope. Edge and Hardcore duke it out when Edge goes for a whip but Hardcore comes back with a clothesline. Hardcore drapes Edge over the top rope and kicks him in the chest. Christian tries to spear Hardcore but misses him and nails Edge by mistake. Christian can't believe what he did when Hardcore plants him with the Alabama Slam and gets the surprising pin! | Your Winners by pinfall: The Hollys (6:29) |
The Hollys walk off in triumph while Edge is frustrated at what just happened. Christian tries to help Edge up but Edge shoves him away! Edge glares at Christian then starts to leave the ring but Christian stops him, feeling they're not done yet, and they stand nose-to-nose. But eventually then two of them leave the ring without incident, as least this time.

Ravne snapmares Test and slaps on a chinlock, Test fights out of it but Raven trips him with another drop toehold. Raven whips Test into a corner and connects with the running knee. Raven goes for the running bulldog but Test shoves him away and hits a powerslam for a near fall. We find William Regal in his office conversing with Tajiri, saying how he's impressed with his performances in the ring and has decided to enter him in the King of the Ring tournament tonight. Tajiri gets excited and mumbles some Japanese...when Steve Austin barges in the room and is not in a good mood. Ausitn first wanrs Tajiri to get out of here unless he wants his (*bleep*) whipped, because he and the Commissioner have things to talk about, alone! Tajiri departs without hesitation while Austin glares at Regal saying how his little plan on Raw failed. Austin rants on how he has to face both Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho in 10 days at King of the Ring and calls it completely unacceptable. Regal replies that he was forced into it by Linda McMahon and had no control over it but Austin disagrees. Austin says that they wouldn't be in this position if Regal had stood his ground and told Linda off but Regal says that as much as he wants to kiss Austin's and Mr. McMahon's bums he has to think of himself first! Ausitn then says that somebody has to pay for this because he doesn't deserve this and demands either Kurt Angle or The Big Show in the ring for dropping the ball! Regal tells Austin that Angle is already booked against The Undertaker but he can have Big Show and Austin says that's fine with him. Austin promises to teach that 'oversized moron' a lesson and he hopes Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho are watching. Austin walks off while Regal just shakes his head in frustration.

Angle then says Taker doesn't need to worry about some guy in black, he needs to worry about the guy in the red, white and blue. Angle also says that if Shane tries to get involved in his match tonight, he;s got a little surprise for him, it's true.
= MATCH #3 = | The Hardy Boyz (w/Lita & Eddie Guerrero) vs. X-Pac & Justin Credible | Once everyone is in the ring X-Pac takes a swipe at Lita but Eddie stands in his way. Matt says he had a suspicion that Eddie was out for revenge ever since he beat him for the European Title. Eddie denies it but tells Matt if he wants trouble he'll be more than happy to oblige. Matt and Eddie then start exchanging punches while Lita begs them to stop fighting. Jeff and the other trainers try to separate them to no avail. Finally William Regal and a squad of referee pull both guys off each other. Regal says he's already had enough trouble for one night doesn't need them staring some more. Regal then tells Matt and Eddie that if they're willing to fight he'll give them their chance at King of the Ring, for the European Title. Pretty good Smackdown. I'm really liking Angle/Shane, Kane/Rhyno, pissed of Steve Austin, and the Dudley family problems. Interested to see how Spike gets revenge especially now that his brothers are champions. The only real complaint I have is that you used the same finish for two matches - tag team partners lose due to one accidentally hitting the other and then they argue. It's a small complaint, just something that bugs me a little.

Vince responds by reminding Austin that he felt he couldn't get the job done anymore back at Wrestlemania and came to him for help. Vince adds that thanks to him, Austin is enjoying a glorious comeback as the WWF Champion, that he sent The Rock packing, defeated The Undertaker and faced down Benoit and Jericho. Austin says that's all well and good but he hasn't needed him in weeks and certainly doesn't need him know. WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 11th June 2001...William Regal kicking things off tonight is a different way to what we've had previously, with someone from the main event scene popping up in the opening segment. Neat. Good points covered with the Shane McMahon and WCW stars attacking WWF superstars. Regal booking Chris Jericho in a Hardcore match with the Big Show was fine, and I'm glad that Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle in the steel-cage has been retained. Good idea for Linda McMahon to oppose Regal and his biased commissioning, and I expect that we will see a triple threat match come King of the Ring, like in real life. Raven beating Perry Saturn was fine in an average opening contest. I suppose that this is just leading to Saturn's "knocked silly" gimmick, which is cool. More of a SmackDown! match though, in my mind, or just a match that should fit in later on in the show. The Undertaker getting a WWF Hardcore Championship shot? That's different. I'd have had the title match open the show though, really, especially since it was second. Spike Dudley's more affectionate than Molly Holly, which leads me to believe that we could be seeing a heel turn from Molly in the near future. Maybe that's just how the segment with her and Spike was written though. Hard-hitting WWF Hardcore Championship match between Rhyno and the Undertaker up next, but Test stole the title? Huh, that's weird. The masked man's involvement and the title change were the only two main highlights of this match. Kane getting involved was pretty random, though. Matt and Jeff Hardy facing off against each other in the qualifying round should be interesting, especially with the hint at Matt departing the Team Xtreme faction following Eddie Guerrero's involvement. Stone Cold Steve Austin's gimmick is quickly becoming tired, where he's angry at William Regal or Vince McMahon for what's going on with his WWF Championship. Jeff Hardy qualifying into the next round was the right decision, but you missed a big opportunity to progress this storyline where Matt's ticked off at Team Xtreme because of Eddie's involvement. Oh well. Chris Jericho getting the win against Big Show in the second hardcore match of the night was fine and expected, but went a bit too short for a first-hour main event I thought. Still, it did the job it needed to accomplish with Jericho entering the WWF Championship match at King of the Ring. Stone Cold running in and attacking both Show and Jericho was a nice touch, though. I think that Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit's relationship is a bit too close for two guys chasing the WWF Championship: reinforce their previous rivalry, and you have solid-gold tension. The Dudley Boyz against the Holly Cousins again? Sigh. Fair win for the Dudley Boyz, but this is just nothing new anymore. I liked the chaos contrasting with Spike and Molly's kiss, though. Like in real life. Another barge-in segment with Austin and Regal. D-Lo Brown beating Albert was strange, and again, it was more of a SmackDown! match to me. I'm wondering what's going on with X-Factor with this dissension...I'm hoping that it's pointing to a Justin Credible heel turn prior to a potential ECW invasion. Edge facing Christian in a King of the Ring qualifying match was decent, but Christian won? Hahah, I guess you got the names wrong. I'm not liking how Kane's run as WWF Intercontinental Champion has gone since Judgment Day though; he's had a few defenses, but no real storyline or direction for him. And lastly, an outstanding main event following the same spots as the real match, with Chris Benoit beating Kurt Angle. Great ending to RAW is WAR, and while it was a solid show, it had a few flaws: where was Vince McMahon? I think we need to see some fresh segments and storylines too. Additionally, King of the Ring is looming in just two weeks, with only four official matches! I wonder what else is going to go into the show as we grow closer. The ordering could have also used some fiddling around.
WWF SmackDown!: Thursday 14th June 2001...William Regal with some pre-taped comments was an interesting start. Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho to defend the WWF Tag Team Championships is a fine decision, although against the Dudley Boyz I believe that we are in for a definite title change tonight. Entertaining opening contest with the Holly Cousins getting a surprise win against Edge and Christian, as Christian continues his losing ways. Edge almost turned heel, you should watch how you write things more. It could be perceived as a heel turn hint, anyway. I could see the Hollys challenging the Dudley Boyz for the WWF Tag Team Championships at King of the Ring, provided they win the gold tonight. Test beating Raven in the King of the Ring qualifying round was fine, not a bad decision at all. I think you should have tried to have someone introduce the 24/7 rule on the new WWF Hardcore Champion, though. Be interesting as to how far you have Test get. Tajiri and William Regal having a chat is fine...oh wait here comes Stone Cold Steve Austin, for the third time this week, in an office barge-in segment! Austin taking his title frustrations out on Kurt Angle or Big Show sounds amusing. The Hardy Boyz beating X-Pac and Justin Credible of X-Factor was fine, not a lot to add. SmackDown! is very tag team-focused tonight/lately. Credible and X-Pac descension sucks; hopefully they can talk it out and get along. They've not been a unit for too long. Lita got injured? Dang, here comes the fun part of the tension AT LAST! It started to lose steam. You'd think that with a title match ahead of them, the Dudleys wouldn't pay too much attention to Spike and Molly's relationship. Ah well. Hahah, there we have it: Matt's a d*ckhead, and we have the inevitable WWF European Championship set for King of the Ring. Good segment, this is arguably the best usage of the title all year long in terms of storylines and hype. Kurt Angle managing to beat the Undertaker by count-out was nice, liked the distraction from the masked man causing that. A decent first-hour main event. Shane McMahon then intercepting Angle's celebration moment was fun. I expected a WCW star to get involved, though honestly. Ha, mind games with the masked man. Good showcase of the Undertaker's personality. Kurt Angle sure waited in the ring for a bit. Decent promo with Angle, but I detested the involvement from Edge and Christian. Especially when Edge and Christian have been playing face roles recently, and earlier tonight showed signs of breaking up. Lack of logic tonight, in my mind. It did forward the Angle/McMahon feud, though. I wonder if any WCW stars will get involved in their King of the Ring bout. The Big Show hopefully gains momentum following this. I liked Austin getting himself disqualified though, showing how angry he truly is. Wow, Tajiri gets into the King of the Ring tournament! Haha! Good win for Tajiri against Spike Dudley, but the interference from D-Von Dudley wasn't necessary in my mind. The Dudleys should be busy preparing for later tonight, thus meaning that this storyline didn't need to be touched on too much tonight. I like your switch-up of the King of the Ring tournament, though. Kane and Rhyno had a decent match, but a second count-out? I guess I liked the Gore-through-the-barricade spot though, nice usage. I see Rhyno as a threat to Kane's WWF Intercontinental Championship, but I'm hoping that he doesn't take the title from Kane too easily. And lastly, solid main event with the Dudley Boyz, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit. It was hot from start to finish, and the WWF Tag Team Championships changing hands was imminent. Austin's involvement was also expected, adding coal to the fire for the WWF Championship come King of the Ring. A good episode of SmackDown!, the better show of the two this week. June 21, 2001 @ Orlando, FL
Smackdown comes on the air with highlights of the main event and the rumor that was mentioned in the closig moments of the show. We then get footage from earlier today of Vince McMahon arriving to the building in his limo. As he climbs out and heads in the building William Regal greets him and asks how he's doing but Vince says he doesn't know after he reported that rumor about Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho. Regal asks if they shouldn't take some precautions to ensure they don't take the title to WCW and Vince says he had the same idea. Vince says he spoke to the Board of Directors about cancelling Sunday's title match but they refused, saying they didn't have any hard evidence that Benoit and Jericho really are planning to defect to WCW should they win the title and that they can't base our decision on pure speculation. Vince says there's one more thing he can try and walks off while Regal is muttering to himself.
We then get the intro before going to the arena with Michael Cole and Tazz welcoming us to the show. Cole reminds us we're just 72 hours, three days away from King of the Ring and tonight the last two quarterfinal matches will take place to round out the final four. Tazz adds that Kurt Angle, Tajiri, Edge and Test are left but only two of them move on to the big dance. Cole also says that the participants in Sunday's triple threat match are in the house but talks about the rumor they heard just before Raw went off the air, that if Chris Benoit or Chris Jericho win the WWF Title at King of the Ring they're going to defect to WCW with the title. Tazz says it's only a rumor right now, but if Benoit and Jericho are indeed jumping to WCW with the title the reprecusions would be enormous to say the least.
= MATCH #1 = | KING OF THE RING QUARTERFINAL MATCH Edge vs. Test | Cole tells us the winner of this match gets Jeff Hardy at the pay-per-view, and that Edge asked Christian to stay in the back for his match. Test goes right to work on Edge and throws him to the mat then tosses him into a corner and stomps him down. Test throws Edge across the ring and hits a clothesline in a corner then clotheslines him over the ropes. Test goes out and goes for a whip but Edge sends him knee-first into the steps. Edge drops Test knee-first onto the barricade then attacks the knee before throwing Test back in the ring as we see Christian making his way down the ramp. Edge chopblocks Test in the hurt knee then continues working the knee over and wraps it around the rope. Edge snapmares Test and goes for a Figure Four but Test kicks him into the turnbuckles and rolls him up for two. Edge hits another chopblock to the knee then drapes Test's on the bottom rope and sits down on the bad leg. Edge goes out and sets up for a Figure Four around the ringpost but Test kicks him away and into the barricade. Edge climbs back in the ring and and exchanges punches with Test then kicks the bad knee to regain control. Edge comes off the ropes and runs right into a tilt-o-whirl slam but Test is still hurt and can't make the cover. Both men get to their feet and Test scoops Edge up when Christian hops on the apron and gets the referee's attention. Edge floats over Test and rolls him up ... but Christian is still distracting the referee from counting the pin! Edge finally notices Christian on the floor and asks what he's doing out there then turns back when Test clotheslines him then hits the Full Nelson slam! Test covers Edge as the referee counts 1..2..but Christian puts Edge's foot on the rope. So Test brings Christian in the hard way and nails him with big boot but ends up hurting his knee as a result. Edge then comes up and drills Test with the Impailer for the three count to advance in the tournament. | Your Winner by pinfall: Edge (6:04) |
Christian is celebrating Edge's win on the floor but Edge doesn't look thrilled that he came out after being asked to stay in the back.
{BACKSTAGE}
Kevin Kelly is interviewing Eddie Guerrero about facing D'Lo Brown tonight before getting his shot at Matt Hardy and the European Title on Sunday. Eddie says that it's probably for the best that he and Matt finally face off and mentions that he never asked for a European Title match but isn't going to turn down a shot at it. Eddie says that Matt did beat him for the title back in April but he wanted to let bygones be bygones and had the Hardys' back for two months, only Matt Hardy never gave him a chance. Eddie finishes by saying if this is the way it has to be, then he's going to take this shot to take back what belongs to him.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
= MATCH #2 = | Chris Jericho vs. Perry Saturn | Both men lockup to start and Saturn gets in the first shots then whips Jericho but Jericho comes back with a flying forearm. Jericho follows up with an armdrag followed by a dropkick then backdrops Saturn over the ropes. Saturn climbs back on the apron but Jericho knocks him back off with the springboard dropkick. Jericho then goes out to the apron and connects with a Asai moonsault. Jericho throws Saturn back in the ring but Saturn greets him with a sledge then lays the boots to him. Saturn whips Jericho, Jericho floats over him and goes for an O'Connor roll but Saturn grabs the ropes to prevent it. Saturn comes back with right hands and goes for a whip but Jericho reverses it and drops him down to the mat. Jericho goes for a whip, Saturn reverses into a corner and charges but Jericho sidesteps him and hits the bulldog. Jericho goes for the Lionsault and Saturn avoids it but Jericho lands on his feet and connects with a spinning heel kick. Jericho takes Saturn down then turns him into the Walls of Jericho and Saturn taps out. | Your Winner by submission: Chris Jericho (2:38) |
Jericho gets his hand raised and starts to leave the ring when Johnathan Coachman runs up for a quick interview. Coach starts to ask about the rumor but Jericho interupts him and says that he hopes Steve Austin was watching because that's going to be him on Sunday, tapping out to the Walls of Jericho. Jericho heads out, ignoring Coach trying to ask about his rumored defection.
{BACKSTAGE}
Lillian Garcia interviews the Dudley Boyz on Spike Dudley saying he was going to find a partner and challenge them for the Tag Team Titles at King of the Ring. Bubba Ray says he and D'Von though Spike was their brother but instead chose 'some broad' over his own flesh and blood. Bubba says they'll accept the challenge, feeling no one is dumb enough to be Spike's partner. D'Von adds that if there is someone dumb enough to be Spike's friend, it's not going to make a difference, because they recently won the titles for the fourth time and they aren't going anywhere soon. D'Von finishes by telling Spike and his supposed partner to pay attention to what awaits them this Sunday as they take care of the Acolytes.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
Cole and Tazz welcome us back and mention that the rumors of Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho possibly jumping to WCW isn't the only mystery going into King of the Ring, because the man in black who's been targeting The Undertaker has said he will come out to the ring and show his face to the world because he calls The Undertaker out. Tazz says they're going to finally learn who is either so stupid or so brave to be pulling this stunt against the Dead Man. Tazz adds that whomever he is, he better be ready or his 15 minutes of fame are going to end quickly.
{IN-RING}
The Undertaker rides out to the ring on his motorcycle and gets on the mic to address the fans.
Taker: “Now, I hear the guy that's been jumping me for the past month says he's going to be at King of the Ring and will even show his face to the world. So not only does he have a death wish, but he's going to give me the chance to grant it. But whoever this guy is, he needs to realize something. I've been in this comapny for 10 years, and I belive they call it a Decade of Destruction. During that time I've made a rather long list of all the guys who've tried to make a name for themselves at my expense but in the end, they all rested in peace. This guy thinks he has an advantage by disgusing himself, attacking me from behind and playing stupid tricks. If he wanted to get his (*bleep*) kicked that badly, all he had to do was face me like a man and I'd been happy to do it for him. So you say you'll be at King of the Ring. Well I'll certainly be there and I'll be more than happy to make you famous. So whoever you are, this Sunday, please show up.”
Undertaker then heads back out and rides back up the ramp, having delivered his message. Cole and Tazz continue to comment before we go right to the next match.

D'Lo hits Eddie with a backbreaker followed by the shaky legdrop for another two count. D'Lo goes for a whip but Eddie reverses it and hot shots him on the top rope. Eddie then goes out to the apron and slings himself over the ropes for a hilo. Eddie works D'Lo over with chops then comes off the ropes but runs into a powerslam for a near fall. D'Lo unloads on Eddie with right hands but Eddie comes back with an enzuigiri. Eddie plants D'Lo with a vertical suplex, but holds on and hits a second vertcial suplex, then holds on again and hits a thrid vertcial suplex. Eddie climbs to the top rope and goes for the Frogsplash and misses it but rolls back to his feet. D'Lo goes for a clothesline but Eddie ducks it and gets him with a backslide for a near fall. Eddie whips D'Lo into a corner and hits an European uppercut then sets him on the top rope. Eddie climbs up and goes for a huricanra but D'Lo holds the ropes and Eddie slips off. D'Lo then goes for the Lo Down but Eddie avoids it then rolls D'Lo up and grabs the tights for the pin. | Your Winner by pinfall: Eddie Guerrero (4:59) |
{BACKSTAGE}
Edge is sitting in the lockerroom pondering something when Christian walks up telling him what a gret job he did out there. Edge says he remembers asking a certain someone to not come out during that match and Christian claims he was trying to help out but Edge says his 'help' almost cost him the match. Christian asks what does it matter now, since they're both in the semis and both two matches away from becoming King of the Ring. Edge agrees and says what would be great is to face Christian in the final, so they can finally put this thing between us to rest. Christian says he's not going to disappoint him.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
= MATCH #4 = | The Hardy Boyz (w/Lita) & Kane vs. X-Pac, Albert & Rhyno | Once everybody comes out Kane and Rhyno stand face-to-face but it's Albert and Jeff staring us off. Jeff goes for a whip, Albert reverses it but Jeff slides under him and hits an enzuigiri. X-Pac tags in but he runs into an armdrag then Jeff slaps on an armbar. The two of them trade forearms when Jeff goes for a whip, X-Pac reverses and goes for a dropkick but Jeff fakes him out and hits the double legdrop. Matt tags in and the Hardys whip X-Pac into a corner, Matt drops into position and Jeff hits Poetry in Motion. Matt clotheslines X-Pac and goes for a whip, X-Pac reverses it but lowers the head and Matt kicks the face then follows up with the takedown clothesline for a two count. Matt gets a hammerlock but X-Pac elbows out and tags in Rhyno. Matt greets Rhyno with some right hands then comes off the ropes but Rhyno catches him with a belly-to-belly suplex. Rhyno pummels Matt in a corner then whips him into the opposite corner and hits a shoulderblock. Albert tags in and presses Matt up but Matt slips out and lands on his feet. Matt goes for the ropes when X-Pac nails him so Matt knocks X-Pac and Rhyno's heads together but Albert squashes him with the Avalanche. Albert whips him and hits a flying shoulderblock then covers but Kane makes the save. Rhyno tags in and gets in his offense before X-Pac tags in and snapmares Matt then slaps on a chinlock. Matt fights out and shoves X-Pac into a corner then charges but eats a boot. However Lita trips X-Pac from the floor and pulls him by the legs into the post while Matt makes the tag to Kane. Kane and Rhyno exchange shots and Kane gets the advantage then goes for a whip but Rhyno reverses it and hits a clothesline. Rhyno follows up with a belly-to-belly suplex when Kane sits up but Rhyno hits the running boot to the head. Rhyno then connects with the Gore on Kane and covers him but both Hardys come in and make the save. Jeff knocks Albert off the apron while X-Pac comes in but Matt tosses him back out. Jeff climbs to the top rope and leaps off, nailing X-Pac and Albert with a flying crossbody on the floor. Matt sets Rhyno up for the Twist of Fate when Eddie Guerrero runs down the ramp and hops ojn the ramp, getting Matt's attention. So Matt lets go of Rhyno and walks over to get in Eddie's face then brings him in the ring the hard way. Matt and Eddie exchange shots but Eddie throws Matt right into a Gore from Rhyno. Before Rhyno can cover Matt Kane nails him with the flying clothesline off the top rope. Eddie rolls back out to the floor while Kane pounds on Rhyno and whips him into a corner then hits a powerslam. Kane grabs Rhyno by the throat for a chokeslam but Albert is in to break it up. Albert whips Kane and after Jeff makes a blind tag Kane comes back with a clothesline then clotheslines Albert over the ropes. X-Pac climbs to the top rope and leaps off but Kane catches him in a choke and plants him with the chokeslam but Rhyno comes back and nails Kane with the Gore. Meanwhile Jeff climbs to the top and hits X-Pac with the Swanton Bomb for the pin. | Your Winners by pinfall: The Hardys & Kane (7:45) |
Jeff barely gets his hand raised when Rhyno takes him out with the Gore as well. Rhyno then leaves the ring before Kane sits up and glares him while Matt and Eddie also exchange looks.

Steve Austin is sitting in his lockerroom polishing up his championship belt when Vince walks in. Vince says he's been thinking about their conversation in Monday and feels that maybe he was a little hasty. Vince mentions the rumor about Benoit and Jericho possibly taking the title to WCW has him worried but Austin cuts him off, accusing Vince of thinking he can't beat Benoit and Jericho so he just has to be there to ensure he doesn't lose the title to WCW. Vince tries to explain that a little insurance wouldn't hurt but Austin stands by what he said, that he's going to beat Benoit and Jericho all by himself. Austin says Vince doesn't need to worry about the WWF Title going to WCW because he's still going to be WWF Champion after King of the Ring, and it's because he says so. Austin then storms off with Vince just puts his head in his hands.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
Back from break Cole and Tazz comment on Austin's conversation with Vince, with Tazz wondering what goes through Austin's head at time. Jericho then mentions that it could come down to the two of them, and with the championship on the line, he's going to give it his all, 100%, to win the title. Benoit says he wouldn't expect anything less, but after everything Austin has put him through, he's due for some payback at King of the Ring.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
{BACKSTAGE}
William Regal walks into Vince's office to talk with him and figures the meeting with Steve Austin didn't go well. Vince says Austin still insists he doesn't need him but you know what, that's fine. Vince says he just realizes that no one in their right mind would ever jump to WCW, especially Benoit and Jericho. Vince asks why anyone would work for an inferior organization like WCW when they can be here in the WWF? Vince says Shane planted the rumor of a defection just to scare all of them, and it almost worked but ultimately, it failed. Vince also brings up how Benoit and Jericho will also be gunning for the title and only one of them can have it so they'll be fighting each other as much as Austin which will work in our favor. Vince says he has nothing to worry about so he's going to head home and on Sunday he's going to enjoy King of the Ring and watch as Austin leaves East Rutherford still WWF Champion. Austin says he's going to reamin WWF Champion after this Sunday when he gets interupted by Chris Jericho and Chris Beoit. Benoit says Austin can make all the excuses he wants, but the bottom line is last Monday, he and Jericho made him tap out! Benoit says waybe that'll happen again in three days, and maybe it won't, but whether it's him or Jericho, they're going to make sure Austin's title reign comes to an end, either way. Jericho then says that after everything they've been through over the past month, he doesn't feel like waiting three days. WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 18th June 2001...Hmm, sort of a weak opening contest to kick things off, with Kurt Angle picking up a win against Val Venis. I'd be fine with this, but Val has had no momentum and so even four minutes is a little long for this match to be going. Edge and Christian appear to be tweenering lately, I hope that they can finally just choose one and stick with it. Up next, a solid contest that should have rightfully opened things up tonight, Christian picking up the win in the King of the Ring quarter-final match. I'm curious as to what Eddie is now that he's got this match coming up against Matt Hardy, his own stable mate. Who does the crowd cheer for? I sure hope that X-Factor can remain a cooperative unit tonight. Up next, a SmackDown!-worthy match between Tajiri and Taka Michinoku - it should've been on SmackDown!, where it would've been given more than two minutes. It got Tajiri over on the flagship show though, I guess. I'm sort of perplexed by the lack of opening promo so far, it's pretty odd. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon had a nice exchange, just promoting the triple threat match coming up on Sunday night for the WWF Championship. Hmm, I wasn't a fan of the booking during the WWF Hardcore Championship personally. Test retaining the title against X-Pac is fine, but you figure that with the dissension going on with Albert and Justin Credible, that if X-Pac failed, one of the other X-Factor members would have definitely capitalized on it. Albert and X-Pac leaving Credible behind leads me to a further hint that we're going to see an ECW faction in the near future. The Hardy Boyz' segment was fine, but I'm not a fan of D-Lo Brown getting a WWF European Championship right before a pay-per-view, where Matt is scheduled to face Eddie Guerrero. It's just a bit contradicting. Matt winning was fine, but the match went too long. D-Lo, like Val hasn't got enough credibility or momentum to go that long in the ring with a champion, I hate to say it. Up next, nice segment from the masked man, challenging the Undertaker. I'm glad that it's still not been announced as an official match. The Dudley Boyz and Austin in cohoots? I like the idea. Up next, sure to be a solid match between Rhyno and Jeff Hardy - but it went too short in my opinion. Should have skinned a few minutes from D-Lo vs Matt and added it here to Jeff/Rhyno. Also, two Hardy Boyz matches back-to-back is a little iffy to me. Ah well. Kane's involvement was very interesting, and I do like Jeff qualifying further than the quarter-final round. It's a nice change. Could we see Jeff against Edge in the King of the Ring finals!? Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit made signals of dissension going into the WWF Championship match this Sunday, should be interesting to what it boils down to. And finally, the Dudley Boyz feud combined with the triple threat match feud, wow. That's an interesting combination - very action-packed and enjoyable. Jericho and Benoit with the double submission spot on Austin to get the win, very nice to add more dissension! I like it. Oh damn, Benoit or Jericho could steal the WWF, I like the idea of that, but I doubt it'll happen. Overall, a solid show walking into King of the Ring, I really enjoyed it. Not sure how the rating would be though, with scattered star power in unimportant matches and no really promos that could impact the show. But nonetheless, nice work, now a month into this diary.
WWF SmackDown!: Thursday 21st June 2001...Up first, I expected that Edge would defeat Test to advance into the semi-finals, not bad. Christian's help is a strange one though, must contribute to the storyline, me thinks. Oh man, Edge faces Jeff Hardy in the semi-finals? That's a shame, nevermind. Up next, I guess I like that D-Lo Brown is becoming entwined in the build for Matt Hardy facing Eddie Guerrero at King of the Ring: but if you want to get D-Lo more momentum or credibility, he needs talk-time: your best bet would've been for D-Lo to have interrupted this promo. And then it further hypes the upcoming match for the viewers. Chris Jericho beating Perry Saturn was fine, I wonder what is happening with Perry. Hmm, no promo again. I think that Vince McMahon should have come out to address the rumors at the top of the show, but nevermind. Chris Jericho's in-ring promo was short, but rightfully should have been interrupted by Vince here. It gives us the impression that Vince isn't that fussed. Good promo from the Undertaker, I enjoyed it. Last minute hype for their upcoming segment at King of the Ring. Eddie Guerrero defeating D-Lo Brown was expected - Brown is damaged after this week, had he had some talk-time, you could have saved him. Eddie winning with a handful of tights was bizarre for a tweening face to do. Could we see a heel turn from Lita coming up, where she joins Eddie? Up next, a solid as hell six-man tag team contest between the Hardy Boyz and Kane & X-Factor and Rhyno, I guess Justin Credible is now out of the picture. A great first-hour main event to combine star power with the WWF Intercontinental Championship feud. I'm hoping that Kane hangs onto the gold, but it wouldn't surprise me if Rhyno went over on Sunday. Vince McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin's segment was alright. Up next, too easy a win for Chris Benoit against Steven Richards. Not that great for build in getting the challengers more over, could've done with better opponents for a more entertaining show. It's like WCW Thunder tonight. Kurt Angle's interview actually reminded me of the rivalry he has with Shane McMahon, that's pretty bad. Up next, wow, the APA get a win over the WWF Tag Team Champions? Nice inclusion from Spike Dudley, but now the Dudleys will have their hands full at King of the Ring with Spike and his partner - AND the APA after they beat the champs. Dissension with Jericho and Benoit, I like it. William Regal and Vince McMahon's segment was a continuation of the closing moments of RAW is WAR, alright. Kurt Angle was bound to get a win against Tajiri - match could've been a little shorter, though. But nevermind. And finally, wow that was a dramatic closing promo - redeemed the show in my mind. Shane McMahon attacks Austin, and Benoit and Jericho are hinting at a jump to WCW? Very interesting. A decent final show before King of the Ring, good work with the hype for this.

-Edge advancing like he did is great, starting the Edge/Christian break up earlier by the looks of it. -Nice contest here, with Jericho getting the win over Saturn, great Smackdown style match to keep the fans entertained. -I like that you are keeping the stalker secret until KOTR, nice call. -Another good match, glad you are still using D lo. -Uh oh, Eddie Guerrero isn't as friendly as we thought. Good set up for both mid card title matches. -Quick match, makes Benoit look strong, but maybe a bit too easy to hype up Benoit. -I wonder who Spike will pick? One of the APA? -Really hope Angle doesn't win back to back KOTR. He's above that at this point. -Nice attack by Shane, that'll work the fans. Maybe one of them is turning? Atleast Benoit hopefully won't get injured this time. Looking forward to see what you can do with him during the Invasion.

I see the E & C break up looming and I don't know if I like it this early. But, I'll see what you do with it. Jericho/Saturn was probably a kick ass match and some good wrestling for free TV. Still puzzled about who the stalker could be...want to see you take it a different direction. The way you actually pay attention to the undercard is awesome and something WWF neglected at this time. Angle doesn't need the KOTR at this point and time to propel him. Use it on someone who needs that extra bump. I am excited for your plans man; one of the better written diaries on the board!

June 24, 2001 @ East Rutherford, NJ
King of the Ring comes on the air with an intro video hyping the top matches on tonight's card, including the KOTR semis and final, the Shane McMahon/Kurt Angle street fight and the triple threat for the WWF Championship.
Jim Ross and Paul Heyman then welcome us to the 9th annual King of the Ring from the Continential Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. JR says there's plenty on the line tonight, with Heyman agreeing that this could be a historical night for the WWF. Heyman then reminds us of the rumor that either Chris Benoit or Chirs Jericho have been secretly negotiating with Shane McMahon's WCW, and if one of them defeat Steve Austin to win the title tonight, he's going to jump to WCW and take the title with him. JR says if that happens itll rip the very fabric of the WWF. JR mentions Vince McMahon isn't here tonight so they can only watch and see what happens.
However as the announcers talk, JR notices a pair of figures taking seats in the front row while carrying championship belts of some kind. JR and Heyman quickly identify them as Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire, the WCW Tag Team Champions. JR figures that they're here to cheer on WCW owner Shane McMahon during his street fight with Kurt Angle, while Heyman suggests they could be getting ready to welcome either Benoit or Jericho to WCW if the rumors prove to be true. JR figures they'll hear more about this later as they go to the opening match.
Eddie Guerrero makes his way out to the ring for the first match as we get clips of his issues with Matt Hardy stemming from before Backlash to tonight. Matt is out next with Lita as JR reminds us that brother Jeff will be in action later.

We find Kurt Angle angrily throwing things around backstage as Johnathan Coachman comes up hoping to interview him. Angle rants that he wasn't ready for my run as King of the Ring to end, that s he was supposed to become the first two-time King of the Ring winner and continue his reign for another year, but Shane McMahon ruined everything. Angle says that Shane is going to pay, and that he's going to do a service to the WWF as well. Angle says he's heard that rumor about Shane trying to steal the WWF Championship but he's going to make sure Shane is too broken up to interfere in the main event. Angle finishes by saying that Shane thinks he's seen me mad before, he has no (*bleep*)ing idea what's in store for him.
{RINGSIDE}
JR and Heyman comment on Angle's intense mood but JR gets interupted when the lights suddenly go out and The Undertaker's theme fires up. A spotlight then shines on the stage as someone comes out, only it's not Undertaker but the man in black! The mystery figure walks down the ramp and climbs in the ring then stands in the center as the spotlight continues to shine on him. Eventually the lights switch back on as the figure continues to stand in the ring. The man then speaks on the mic in a familiar voice...
???: “Undertaker, it's time. It's the moment you've been waiting for, your chance to make me famous. Undertaker, you want me, come and get me, just be ready to feel...the...BANG!!”
The figure then removes his mask to reveal...
...Diamond Dallas Page!!
The crowd goes nuts for this surprise as DDP continues on the mic.
DDP: “That's right, Undertaker, it's me, it's me, it's D..D..P! I'm the one who's been targeting you all this time! Now why, you may ask, would I go after the Taker like this. It's simple, I've learned that if you want to make an impact, especially against the WWF, you need to go after the big dogs, and naturally I picked the biggest dog in the yard. But I needed to bring Undertaker down a few pegs first, and the best way to do it is the same way Taker's been beating opponents for years: mindgames, psychological warfare. I've been getting in Taker's head the same way he got into the minds of his victims. Now he's prepared to feel the true force of the Diamond Cutter. And Taker, I will become famous, thanks to you, only not the way you think. So, Taker, you want some, come get some!!”
And almost on cue Taker does make his way out and wastes no time marching down the ramp as DDP awaits him. Taker slides in the ring and the two waste no time exchanging punches. Taker soon takes control and stomps DDP down in a corner but DDP comes back with shot below the belt then gets in his shots and caps off with a discus punch. DDP lays the boots to Taker but Taker grabs him by the throat and throws him into a corner then peppers him with jabs. Taker decks DDP through the ropes then goes out and scoops DDP on his shoulder but DDP slips out and shoves Taker into the ringpost. DDP pounds away on Taker but Taker comes back and spears DDP over the announce table. Taker pounds on DDP and throws him into the timekeeper's table but DDP grabs the ringbell and clocks Taker with it. DDP then grabs a chair and jabs Taker in the chest before clobbering him in the face. DDP throws Taker back in the ring and climbs in then continues his assault as we see Kane coming down the ring ... only he gets jumped by Hugh Morrus and Chris Kanyon who hop the rail. The WCW guys work Kane over then hit him with a double suplex on the floor. In the ring Taker starts to come back when Morrus and Kanyon go in the ring and double-team Taker. Taker fights them off then grabs DDP by the throat but DDP kicks him below the belt and nails him with the Diamond Cutter! DDP stands over the fallen Taker and taunts him with the Diamond Cutter sign then departs the ring and exits through the crowd with Morrus and Kanyon, having delivered his message.
JR and Heyman then cry about what they saw before JR says that once Taker recovers he'd hate to be in DDP's shoes.
A video package is shown highlighting the Shane McMahon/Kurt Angle feud.

First off, let me say. If you don't get newcomer of the year, it'll be a crime. You have a brilliant layout, great writing, and clearly know what you're doing. If there was one criticism, for me, it'd be the amount of detail you put in to the matches. A common trend, that I was happy to see for WWF/WWE sims was that weekly shows would have little to medium detail on matches, PPV's would be slightly better and then on Wrestlemania, you just wrote a book. I'm not a big match detail fan, but that may just be me. Christian beating Angle is a major upset, and I'm glad you did it. Sad that he didn't win the entire tournament though, but an Edge/Christian feud will be brilliant. Booker T's debut worked and here's hoping you do better with the invasion angle than what it all eventually led too. I'd really like to see this somewhat turn in to a WWF/WCW diary where WCW has its own show somehow.

WWF King of the Ring: Sunday 24th June 2001...Alright, hot way to get things started with Eddie Guerrero in action against Matt Hardy for the WWF European Championship, although I'm one of those people that prefer having one of the King of the Ring tournament matches kick off the show. Back and forth contest, but this feud is very backwards to me - Matt's being the more heelish one of the two, and yet gets cheered by the crowd. Hardy retaining is fine, but I didn't like Eddie's hesitant attack afterwards. Especially looking even weaker by Lita's reaction to Eddie attacking her boyfriend. Up next, good win for Edge in the King of the Ring semi-final round, Jeff Hardy had a good shot - I see that you're trying to distance Jeff and Matt into their individual scenarios, but they're still very close to one another - the last few shows, we've seen Jeff in action in the first match, followed by Matt in the second, or something like that. Try and space them out if they aren't working in the same match. Good effort by Jeff nonetheless. Wasn't fond of X-Pac's interference. Good bully promo from the Dudley Boyz to Spike, looking forward to seeing who Spike's partner will be...I don't think D-Von and Bubba Ray Dudley are ready to drop the WWF Tag Team Championships just yet, however. Wow, Christian got a massive win against Kurt Angle, surely he won't win the King of the Ring, though. I liked the involvement from Shane McMahon here, but the fact that both semi-final bouts had interference leading to the finish makes the tournament look a lot less prestigious. Huh, Chris Jericho sounded quite heelish with that promo. Interesting. Up next, good WWF Intercontinental Championship defense by Kane against Rhyno, I'm hoping that their feud isn't just over yet. Wow, here we go - the Undertaker makes Diamond Dallas Page famous. Good promo from 'Taker, and the unveiling of DDP was unsurprising but special for his WWF debut. Chris Kanyon and Hugh Morrus? Yes! I hope Hugh gets pushed a lot here. Good attack by the WCW stars, but what I didn't like about this segment was Kane's inclusion: sure, he'd gladly come out to help his brother, but he's just had a match. I would've moved this segment further up the card. Imagine Kane running down to the ring just five minutes after having won a match...the crowd wouldn't be as excited. If you had this match after the Street Fight however, we'd forgotten that we had seen Kane in a match earlier on tonight, and therefore his reaction would've been louder. Anywho, impactful Street Fight between Kurt Angle and Shane McMahon with several elements from the match retained, whilst some were very innovative and nice additions to the bout. Angle winning was a nice decision, and I'm glad that you kept WCW out of this one. Hmm, Sean O'Haire and Chuck Palumbo are here. Well, Test was a bit disappointing - nevertheless, Test and Spike were never really going to win the WWF Tag Team Championships, so good filler match here. I guess I liked the inclusion of the WCW World Tag Team Champions though. Up next, the finals of the King of the Ring! I think that this route to the finals could've been better, since Christian has virtually lost every match aside from tournament matches - but nonetheless, a great brother vs brother, face vs face match and I love that it seemingly remained neutral and friendly. Edge picking up the win was great, I don't think Christian would've deserved it personally. The two celebrating afterwards was nice, but surely this is just the calm before the storm. Just don't align Christian with WCW. Mmmm, killed it with Mike Awesome and Lance Storm's involvement. Another WCW beatdown of the WWF superstars, quite repetitive. Good for shock value, sure, but whatever. It killed a very nice moment, as a King of the Ring finals should be. This would've been fine tomorrow night on RAW is WAR, if they interrupted the coronation segment. Finally, awesome triple threat match write-up, with Stone Cold Steve Austin retaining the WWF Championship against Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho. I hope Benoit wasn't injured in this match. Booker T attacking Austin after the match was better than the original match interference spot, me thinks. It sets the standards for our first main event feud of the InVasion Angle - hopefully Booker is ready to wrestle the New York style in a WWF ring though. That's what killed his push in 2001. Solid show, but the WCW interference plagued it - it was a launching pad to the story, sure. But this show is only going to be remembered as the show that WCW destroyed the WWF. Had you removed one or two instances, this would've been a better show.

June 25, 2001 @ Madison Square Garden
Raw comes on the air and goes right to the arena with Jim Ross and Paul Heyman welcoming us to the world's most famous arena. JR talks about a wild King of the Ring show that saw a new king crowned in Edge, Stone Cold Steve Austin retaining the WWF Championship, but there were plenty of wild developments. Heyman says the pay-per-view was a party that got crashed by the 'other wrestling organization'. JR says they don't know if they'll have anymore developments on this situation with WCW, but tonight promises to be another memorable night of WWF action here in the Garden.
Vince McMahon swaggers his way to the ring looking to adress the fans on the mic, and seems to be in an unusually good mood. Vince mentions the rumor that if either Chris Benoit or Chris Jericho became WWF Champion, then they would come here tonight to Madison Square Garden and defect to WCW. Vince proudly says that didn't happen and quite frankly it never will, because he's proud to say Stone Cold Steve Austin is still the WWF Champion after beating two men all by himself. Vince admits there were a number of, shall we say, intrusions from the 'other wrestling company', but that's not going to happen tonight, because they're in Madison Square Garden. Vince adds that nobody from WCW has ever stepped foot on this hollowed ground and no one from WCW ever will. Vince brags that he's always been able to walk through these hollowed halls with pride in the fact that this is the house the World Wrestling Federation helped build and hopes to add to the growing legacy.
However Vince gets interupted when a loud siren goes off and the letters 'WCW' flash on the TitanTron? Vince looks on in shock as the letters disappear and Shane McMahon appears, broadcasting live from WWF New York. Shane says he wanted to respond to what Voince said about the intrusions from what he called the other wrestling company before saying that other company has a name, and it's W-C-W. Shane says those intrusions were a message, a way for WCW to say that they're here, and that Vicne forced their hand ina way. Shane says he needs television exposure to build up a brand like WCW but Vince used all his various connections to block WCW from airing on any televsion network then accuses him of always being afraid of competition. Shane says he wants to showcase WCW and since Vince won't let WCW air on television by itself, they're willing to take the fight to the WWF itself by invading it!
Vince starts to get a wide-eyed look following that annoucement as Shane says it doesn't have to be that way. Shane feels there's a way both companies could work together, and that maybe Vince could let some of his WCW stars compete on his television shows. Vince says Kurt Angle must have done a number on Shane's head in the street fight, because there's no chance of WCW wrestlers ever being on his shows! Vince then tells Shane to tell his WCW guys that they're pretty much temporaily employed, because he intends to put WCW out of business once again. Shane says that he can consider this a declaration of war and Vince scoffs, saying if Shane's WCW guys try to go up against the WWF, against his superstars, they'll crush him. Shane then says that as far as WCW never stepping foot in Madison Square Garden, they won't be so sure about that by the end of the night. Vince demands to know what Shane meant by that but the feed cuts out without Shane answering and Vince is left with a nervous look on his face.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
{BACKSTAGE}
Vince is angrily meeting with his security force, saying that he doesn't know what Shane has planned but WCW has never stepped foot inside Madison Square Garden and he aims to presevre the WWF purity that exumes through these halls. Vince tells security to make sure that every door, every window, every possible entrance is covered. Vince emphasizes that no one from WCW gets in and the security guys concur before Vince dismisses them.
= MATCH #1 = | Raven vs. Val Venis | Val is already in the ring when Raven slides in and the two exchange punches to start us off. Val gets then advantage and whips Raven but Raven ducks a clothesline and decks him with a discus punch. Raven tees off on Val then whips him and trips him with a drop topehold. Raven follows up with a suplex then hits an elbowdrop for a near fall. Val starts to fight back but Raven tosses Val over the ropes then goes out and hits a Russian legsweep into the barricade. Raven throws Val in the ring but Val greets him with a sledge then lays the boots to him. Val goes for a whip, Raven reverses him into a corner and hits a running knee followed by a running bulldog for a two count. Val rakes Raven's face and snapmares him to the mat then kicks his back. Val hits his own Russian legsweep then climbs to the top rope and goes for the Moneyshot but misses it. Raven quickly drills Val with the Evenflow and gets the pin. |

Your Winner by pinfall: Raven (3:59)

{BACKSTAGE}William Regal is sitting at his desk watching Tajiri polishing a large trophy that he's going to present to Edge for winning the King of the Ring. There's a knock on the door and Chris Jericho comes in, hoping that Regal will talk about him getting another shot at the WWF Championship. Regal brings up the rumos about him possibly defecting to WCW should he have won the title last night and Jericho says he doesn't know how that rumor got started but Regal cuts him off, saying it's a moot point since he didn't get it done. Regal tells Jericho that he won't be getting a rematch with Stone Cold anytime soon, but he can offer him an oppertunity to earn a tag team title rematch for himself and Chris Benoit. Regal tells Jericho that he's going to be in a handicap match with the Dudley Boyz and if he wins, he and Benoit get their tag team title rematch at Smackdown. Regal dismisses Jericho and Jericho stares daggers at Regal before he heads out. (COMMERCIAL BREAK){BACKSTAGE}Jeff Hardy is preparing for action when Matt Hardy walks up to him asking if he's ready for tonight. Jeff says X-Pac ruined his chance to be King of the Ring last night and he's going to get some payback tonight. Jeff then tells Matt good work in his title match last night and Matt says that he knew Eddie Guerrero was no good and last night proved it. Jeff asks Matt if he's sure he did the right thing regarding Eddie and Matt says it doesn't matter now, what's done is done so they should just move on. Matt mentions Lita's in action later then wishes Jeff luck in his match and Jeff slaps hands with him before heading out. = MATCH #2 = | WWF HARDCORE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH Test © vs. Rhyno | Rhyno goes right to work on Test and whips him into a corner then connects with the running shoulderblock. Rhyno goes out for plunder and tries to bring a trash can in the ring but Test boots it into his face on the apron. Test throws Rhyno back in the ring along with some plunder when Rhyno grabs a trash can but misses the swing. Rhyno tosses the can at Test (who catches it) then charges but Test rams the can into Rhyno's head for a two. Both men head out to the floor but Rhyno tosses Test over the barricade and brawls with him among the fans. Rhyno throws Test into a guardrail then sets the rail up and goes for a suplex onto it but Test blocks it. Test switches it and suplexes Rhyno onto the rail then brings him to the back and rams him into a large scaffold. Rhyno fights back and sets two tables next to eack other but Test pops Rhyno and sets him onto the tables. Test climbs the scaffold when Rhyno gets up but Test kicks him away then jabs him with a fire extinguisher. Test sets Rhyno back on the tables then climbs up the scaffold and hits a flying elbowdrop through the tables. Test tosses Rhyno into a recycle cart and rams it into a wall then grabs a metal ladder and jabs Rhyno with it. Test then sets Rhyno up for a powerbomb onto the ladder but Rhyno backdrops him onto the concrete floor. Test gets to his feet but Rhyno Gores him into a metal barrier. Rhyno then powerbombs Test onto the ladder and gets the three to regain the title. |

Your Winner by pinfall and NEW Hardcore Champion: Rhyno (4:53)

Rhyno grabs his belt and runs off while Test is still down on the floor. {BACKSTAGE}Vince is pacing in his office when Kurt Angle comes in. Vince asks Angle hoe he's doing and Angle says he's disappointed that his reign as King of the Ring ended but he's happy his pal Edge won. Angle also mentions he's still a little beat up after his brutal battle last night and Vince congradulates him for teaching Shane a lesson he'll never forget. Angle says he heard that WCW caused a deal more trouble after he was helped to the back and figures him destroying their owner hasn't taught them anything about messing with the WWF. Vince brings up what Shane said about WCW invading the WWF and how he has his security out in force to ensure that Madison Square Garden is going to be a fortress. Angle assures Vince that should anyone from WCW somehow manage to come in here, he'll make them think twice about their little invasion. (COMMERCIAL BREAK){BACKSTAGE}A disappointed Eddie Guerrero is walking through the hallway when Michael Cole walks up to him, wanting to get his thoughts on coming up short in the European Title match last night. However Eddie just shoots daggers at Cole and walks off without saying a word. = MATCH #3 = | WWF WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH Lita © vs. Jacqueline | Both ladies lockup to start and Jackie slams Lita then lays the boots to her. {BACKSTAGE}Backstage we see The Undertaker riding into the parking garage on his motorcycle. Taker starts to head in the building but notices two security guys guarding the entrance and asks what's up. One of the security guys mentions Vince increased security, not wanting WCW to come inside the Garden. Taker says we'll see about this and heads inside. (COMMERCIAL BREAK){BACKSTAGE}Vince is sitting in his office when The Undertaker comes in asking why it looks like they're in a lockdown or something. Vince says Shane has threatened to have WCW invade the WWF but Taker says it seems to him like it's already happened, that Vince wasn't the one who got beaten down at King of the Ring by "that punk" Diamond Dallas Page. Vince assure Taker that he won't have to worry about DDP tonight but Taker says that's where Vince isn't thinking, that maybe he wants DDP to come in the building so he can return the favor from last night. Vince is taken aback as Taker says he's not a turtle that hides in its shell at the first sign of trouble, that if DDP or any of those WCW idiots want to invade their yard, he says let them try, because they'll have to deal with the big dog that runs the yard. Taker asks Vince to think about that and heads out while Vince is left shaking his head. {IN-RING}The ring is all decorated with a red carpet as William Regal and Tajiri bring the KOTR trophy out for the coronation. Regal stars by saying how there are a lot of things that are lacking in this country, such as civility, politeness, the washing of one's hands when one uses the lavatory. Regal says the thing that is lacking the most is royalty, which is why it's his honor to award the trophy to the King of the Ring winner then brings out Edge. Edge makes his way out to the ring with Christian in tow and they shake hands with Regal and Tajiri. Regal congradulates Edge on his victory in the tournament, and mentions those two ruffians from WCW, whom he won't name, jumped him and Christian but none of that will happen tonight. Regal presents Edge witht he trophy and asks for a special five second pose for all the commonfolk out in the crowd. Regal hands the trophy to Edge and E&C bust out a special pose with it. Christian takes the trophy from Edge and sets it down while Regal hands the mic over to Edge, but Christian suddenly takes the mic away from Edge and says what an honor it is to be standing next to the 2001 King of the Ring, Edge, and that he's proud of him. Edge thanks Christian and looks to take the mic but Christian moves it away from him and says how the match could have gone either way, that had one or two moves gone differently, he could have been the one standing here as the King. Christian says regardless there's no shame in finishing second to Edge and Edge again thanks Christian as he asks for the mic again. Christian hands it over, then takes it back and says those two "reekazoids", Lance Storm and Mike Awesome, did attack them without provication and he wouldn't mind if Mr. McMahon let them into MSG so them can settle the score with them. Edge asks for the mic a third time and Christian finally surrenders it. Edge then welcomes the fans to a new era, the era of awesomeness, and proclaims himself King Edge the Awesome. However Edge doesn't get to say much else when he gets interupted by Billy Gunn coming out to the stage. Billy welcomes Edge to the King of the Ring winners' club then rants that he won the King of the Ring in 1999 and was really looking forward to defending my crown the following year, but unfortunately he had a shoulder injury. Billy then says that he wanted to defend it this year and wasn't even entered in the tournament, instead he had the indignity of sitting at WWF New York with a bunch of loud, obnoxious New York City morons and had to watch a "talentless joke" win the whole thing. Edge responds by calling Billy a human vaccuum cleaner, managing to both suck and blow at the same time! Edge says 1999 was so two years ago, and it's not his fault if Billy done a big pile of nothing since then then asks that in two years' time at the King of the Ring if he's not defending a title, or even in a match, and his very special assignment is to go to WWF New York and eat a meatball sandwich, then please just shoot him in the head! Edge tells Regal that he will not 'Billy Gunn' this King of the Ring title because he plans on being entertaining. Billy challenges Edge to a match tonight and Edge looks toard Regal who okays the match. Edge says that his first act as King Edge the Awesome will be the total annihilation of Billy B(*bleep*)cakes and Edge and Christian share a laugh while Billy is seething from the stage. Regal talks about where the great leaders of the world would be without loyalty, and brings up Winston Churchill but then notices the Dudleys aren't interested in the history lesson. Austin says he defeated Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho all by myself. proving that he doesn't need Vince to retain the WWF Championship, but then got jumped by "that other so-called champion", Booker T. Vince assures Austin that he made sure Booker T won't be getting in the building tonight but Austin says that means he won't get the chance to whip Booker T's (*bleep*). Austin rants that he wants Booker T to come inside Madison Square Garden, he wants him to look him in the eyes before he beats him into a bloody plup. Austin says he's never cowered from competiton and doesn't see why Vince should either. Vince tells Regal there's been no sign of WCW at all tonight and that he knew they didn't have the guts to come here to Madison Square Garden. Vince brags that his security system has been foolproof and made sure there's no way they could soil this hollowed ground. Vince then says that Regal's right, that everyone is just still riled up about last night and are just letting their emotions do the talking without thinking rationally. Vince feels once everyone calms down they'll realize that his methods of dealing with WCW is the best way to handle this situation and they'll thank him. Vince says he's going to enjoy hearing what the WWF Champion has to say and that Shane can talk all he wants but WCW isn't invading the WWF, tonight or any night. (COMMERCIAL BREAK){MAIN EVENT PROMO}Steve Austin makes his way to the ring and looks to close out this show by addressing the fans on the mic, bragging that he's still their WWF Champion. Austin says that Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho teamed up against him and they couldn't do it so once again he proved that he's the most dominat force in the WWF and all of wrestling. Austin then mentions that he has some punk calling himself a champion that wants to make a name for himself at his expense, a yellow-bellied loser that goes by the name of Booker T. Austin says Booker wants to prove something by jumping the greatest WWF Champion of all time but all Booker proved is what a coward he is. Austin says it's too bad that Vince is keeping WCW out of the building, otherwise he'd call Booker T out to this ring and slaps his (*bleep*) around like the dog he is. However Austin stops in mid-sentence when he looks out to the floor and sees Booker T walking down the ramp! The crowd gets excited as Austin and Booker stare at each other while the announcers are going ballistic at the WCW Champion standing in Madison Square Garden! Austin and Booker continue their staredown when Booker walks over and grabs a mic, saying he heard what Austin said about calling him out and decided to save him the trouble. Booker reiterates what Shane said earlier that WCW is looking to get noticed despite the WWF's efforts to keep them down, and if they have to invade the WWF to do it, then so be it. Booker says they're willing to fight the WWF head-on and he's going to be leading the charge. Austin says that he's a man's man and a champion of champions, and he don't deserve to be talked to like that from a champion of an inferior company. Austin says that just because Booker has a big shiny belt doesn't mean he's the champion of the world. However as Austin rants at Booker, Diamond Dallas Page hops the rail and climbs in the ring! And DDP is not alone as he's followed by Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Fit Finaly, Chris Kanyon and Hugh Morrus! The group quietly gathers behind Austin, who's still not aware of what's going on as he tells Booker that if he really wants to come in the ring and get whipped, go right ahead. Austin backs up before he finally notices the group of WCW wrestlers in the ring and just freezes as they surround him with Booker coming in to complete the circle. Austin loks back at Booker just before Booker drops him with a right hand! Booker and the rest of the WCW guy then swarm all over Austin! Austin is helpless as the WCW guys beat him down with DDP capping off with a Diamond Cutter! The WCW crew then lays the boots to Austin as suddenly Shawn Stasiak, Mark Jindrak, Billy Kidman, Chavo Guerrero, Jamie Noble and others join the group in the ring and they get them some of Austin! Kurt Angle runs down the ramp and in the ring trying to make the save but he gets triple-teamed and tossed right back out! The Undertaker runs out but he gets stopped on the apron. Kane and Chris Jericho also come out but they can't get in the ring either. The Acolytes aren't any more successful. More WWF wrestlers come out but the WCW guys manage to keep them out of the ring while Austin continues to get stomped on before Booker finishes him off with the Axe Kick. Eventually Vince McMahon makes his way out and the WCW guys dare him to come in the ring but Vince just stays on the floor and keeps the WWF roster back. Austin is down in the ring surrounded by the WCW wrestlers when Shane McMahon manages to slip in the ring with a mic saying so much for WCW never stepping foot in Madison Square Garden. Shane tells Vince that he may not have wanted a war but he's sure as heck getting one and Booker adds that WCW has invaded the WWF and they aren't going anywhere. Shane then pulls out a large banner with the WCW logo on it and drapes it over the ropes in a symbolic gesture of conquest. WCW stands tall in the ring over the fallen WWF Champion and all the WWF guys can do is watch as the show fades to black.

June 28, 2001 @ Madison Square GardenSmackdown comes on the air with highlights of the shocking events from Raw, including Shane McMahon's announcement about WCW confronting the WWF, the various recation from the lockerroom, Steve Austin's confrontation with Booker T and the WCW guys swarming the ring and taking Austin out. After the intro Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us for the second time this week from Madison Square Garden and talk about one of the most shocking nights in sports-entertainment history. Tazz says he never though he'd see the day when WCW storms Madison Square Garden and leaves the WWF Champion laying in the center of the ring. Cole says regardless the show must go on and tonight Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho get their Tag Team Title rematch with the Dudley Boyz while The Undertaker and Kane team up against The Acolytes. {IN RING}Vince McMahon makes his way to the ring to open the show on the mic, but unlike Monday he's not in a good mood. Vince rants that there was a time when he could walk through the halls of Madison Square Garden with pride and dignity, that he used to be proud to stand in the ringm but those days are long gone because MSG has been tainted, has been soiled by the forces of W..C..W! Vince says these once-hallowed halls are forever stained by the stench of those invaders from Shane McMahon's company, and that he's standing in the spot where Booker T and his minions all ganged up on WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin. Vince says Austin took such a beating that he had no choice but to give him the night off to recover. Vince then brings up how Shane says all he wants is airtime for WCW but says that's not happening. Vince says he doesn't know how WCW got past all his flawless security but no WCW stars will be appearing tonight in any form. However Vince stops in mid-sentence when he looks into the crowd to see Diamond Dallas Page, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Chuck Palumbo, Sean O'Haire, Billy Kidman, Hugh Morrus and Chris Kanyon all taking seats in the front row! Vince demands to know who let them all in the building when Shane McMahon makes his way to the stage with a mic in hand and Vince's mood isn't getting any better. Shane says the WCW guys are just spectators taking their seats to watch the show and he can check their tickets to see they have a right to be here. Vince summons head of security Jim Dotson into the ring and orders him to check each and every ticket, and if there's any doubt in their authenticity to thrown them out. Jim Dotson heads back out to fulfil his task while Vince turns back to Shane asking what he wants. Shane first asks Vince how it felt to see the company he tried to keep down take over his ring and standing over his fallen champion, showing that it won't be so easy to suppress WCW. Vince says that only happened because Shane's WCW thugs ganged attacked Austin without warning, that if he knew you were coming it would be a different story. Shane then accuses Vince of not liking that there are still a lot of WCW fans who want to see their company rise from the ashes. Shane reiterates that they're willing to fight to get the television exposure they need to make WCW great again, to show that WCW is just as great, if not better, than the WWF. Shane says his WCW wrestlers are not afraid to battle Vince's WWF superstars, in the ring or otherwise, but again, it doesn't have to be that way. Shane says they're willing to co-exist peacefully with the WWF if he'd allow his WCW stars to compete on WWF television. Vince says it'll be a cold day in Hell before he lets any WCW wrestler compete on my television shows but Shane says he figured as much so he spoke with another person in charge, who's last name just also happens to be McMahon. Vince gasps as sure enough Linda McMahon pops up on the OvalTron screen, broadcasting from the WWF headquarters in Stamford. After some dialogue between Linda and Vince, Linda says that Shane has been petitioning herself and the Board of Directors about the possibility of his WCW wrestlers competing on WWF television so they've called a special meeting to debate this issue tonight and possibly vote on it. Linda says there's quite a bit of argument on both sides, that some agree with Shane, and some see Vince's side. Linda says the Board should have a decision and before the evening is out she'll fly down to Madison Square Garden to annouce the results of this deliberation. Sahen says that's fair but Vince feels he's only saying that to save face because the Board will see his side and vote not to have WCW on WWF TV, and then he and his little pals will have nowhere to go but the gutter, where they belong. Linda says she'll see both of them later tonight but then warns Vince to try and be nice to the WCW stars in the front row since they're paying customers who just want to enjoy the show and attacking them unprovoked may have consequences, especially since she's still not sure if she wants to proceed with a certain divorce settlement. The feed cuts out just and Vince tries to digest this warning just as Jim Dotson climbs back in the ring and says all the WCW tickets are legit. Vince figures they must have gotten them from some scalper then tells Shane that his WCW guys can stay, but if even one of them so much as sets one foot over the barricade, he'll have the whole lot of them thrown out. Shane says they'll behave, as long as nobody provokes them. Shane heads to the back and Vince leaves the ring while we get a shot of the WCW guys settling in to watch the show. Vince appareciates it but tells Angle how he doesn't want him to risk further injury since he's still recovering from the street fight, plus once the Board of Directors shoots down Shane's petition they won't have to worry about WCW anymore. Angle says he agrees, but then again it would be good to have WCW on WWF television. Angle says he'd love to teach each and every one of those WCW guys a wrestling lesson they'd never forget, especially that Canadian thug Lance Storm. Angle says he'd love to just get him in the Ankelock and span his ankle in two. but Vince tells him he'll have to do it at some indy show or something because it won't be happening in the WWF. Billy throws out an open challenge out there to anyone in the lockerroom so he can beat some respect out of each and every one. Bradshaw accuses WCW of thinking this is just some big joke, that they can just walk into their home and take food outta their mouths. Bradshaw says he could care less about Austin getting beaten down but what Booker T and those other idiots did still ain't gonna be tolerated. Faarooq says they can't worry about that tonight because they have other business at hand in the form of their old friends Undertaker and Kane. Faarooq says they're going to use that match as a visual aid to show the WCW guys that if they try something, they;re gonna be right there to kick them out the door. Bradshaw says if 'those freeloading wannabes' have the audacity to invade them again, then tell 'em just to come on, 'cause there's gonna be a fight in the Big Apple tonight! Bradshaw and Faarooq both throw their cards down and storm out of the office. (COMMERCIAL BREAK){BACKSTAGE}The Undertaker and Kane are warming up for their match with Taker saying how they're stuck fighting the Acolytes when they guys they really want to hook up with are sitting in the front row, especially that 'sonuvagun' Diamond Dallas Page. Taker says if DDP thinks he's just going to forget about how he took him out at King of the Ring, he's mistaken, because everybody knows he never forgives, and he never forgets. Kane then brings up how DDP's pals also took him out and he wants some payback as well. Taker says Vince can say what he wants but he wants the Board of Directors to say yes to WCW, just for the chance to settle the score with DDP. Taker says DDP may have gotten one over him but he's not going to survive the next encounter, and the same goes for any WCW guys who tries to cross the Deadman. = MATCH #5 = | Eddie Guerrero vs. Spike Dudley (w/Molly Holly) | Eddie comes out first and gives a nod to the WCW guys in the crowd. Both men lockup to start and Eddie takes Spike over with a headlock but Spike counters it with a legscissors. Eddie hammers Spike with forearms and caps off with an uppercut then goes for a whip but Spike reverses it. Spike hits a backdrop and goes for a dropkick but Eddie swats him away then pounds away at him in a corner. Eddie chokes Spike on the ropes and goes for a whip but Spike reverses into a corner and hits a monkey flip. Eddie comes back with a clotheslines then follows up with a suplex for a two count and slaps on a chinlock. Eddie rams Spike into a buckle then whips him into a corner but Spike catches him with a headbutt to the chest. Both men exchange punches and Spike gets the advantage but Eddie rakes the face and gets in a series of shots. Eddie whips Spike him into a corner but Spike lifts himself over Eddie and hits him with a pair of clotheslines. Spike hits a dropkick for a near fall then looks for the Dudley Dawg but Eddie stops it with knees to the chest. Eddie goes for a suplex but Spike floats over him and nails him with a neckbreaker but only gets a two count. Spike tries the Dudley Dawg again and looks like he's going to hit it but Eddie counters it with a backbreaker. Eddie powerbombs Spike then climbs to the top rope and connects with the Frogsplash for the pin. | Your Winner by pinfall: Eddie Guerrero (4:45) |

Eddie celebrates the win while Molly comes in to tend to Spike. However Eddie suddenly gets in Molly's face...but leaves the ring without further incident and looks as if he's conflicted emotionally. {BACKSTAGE}Chris Benoit is suiting up for action when Chris Jericho comes in and the two touch fists as a greeting. Benoit asks Jericho if he's ready for action Jericho says he is, then talks about that rumor that somehow started of one of them jumping to WCW if we had won the WWF Title on Sunday. Jericho asks Benoit if he would have defected had he beaten Austin but Benoit chastises Jericho for worrying about rumors when they have a chance to regain the Tag Team Titles after they were stolen from them two weeks ago. Benoit tells Jericho that he needs him to focus on the match and asks if he'll have his back. Jericho says he'll have Benoit's back and they'll regain the tag team titles and Benoit says that;s what he's looking for in his tag team partner, the same passion that enabled them to beat Stone Cold and Triple H. Benoit says they won the titles before and they'll do it again then walks out but Jericho seems a little perplexed by his partner's behavior. (COMMERCIAL BREAK){BACKSTAGE}Johnathan Coachman interviews the Dudley Boyz at the interview set, reminding them how Chris Jericho was able to beat both of them in a handicap match on Raw and how tonight he and Chris Benoit get their rematch for the tag team titles. Bubba says not to give Jericho too much credit, that he only stole one because his fellow Canuck got involved in the match. Bubba says they're happy to have both guys in the ring so they can finish this thing with them for good. D'Von says they're out to show the world they're the best tag team ever, especially "those two WCW guys carrying tag team title belts that they saw at King of the Ring". D'von asks who they were agiann but Bubba says who cares, that if those two guys are proud to be the best tag team in the minor leagues, fine, but they're the champs of the major leagues. Bubba then says if "those two guys" want to step up to the place, they'll be happy to hammer that point down, personally. = MATCH #6 = | The Undertaker & Kane vs. The Acolytes | Bradshaw and Faarooq hit the ring but first take a moment to head over to where the WCW guys are seated and tell them what they think of them. Kane is out next followed by Taker when Taker heads over and gets in Diamond Dallas Page's face. The two exchange words when Taker starts to walk away but suddely grabs DDP and pulls him over the barricade to ringside! Taker wails away on DDP on the floor when the other WCW guys hop the rail and swarm all over him. Kane, Bradshaw and Faarooq then head out and start brawling with the WCW guys but it's 8-on-4 with the WWF guys getting overwhelemed. Finally security runs out and separates the two sides as we go to commercial. | Your Winners: NO MATCH |

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)Back from break Cole comments on how all heck just broke loose, after The Undertaker attacked DDP prompting the other WCW guys to get involved. Cole says DDP and the rest have been ejected from the building so hopefully order has been restored, but Tazz doesn't understand why they were thrown out, since Undertaker was the one who threw the first punch. {BACKSTAGE}We cut backstage as a limo pulls into the parking garage and Linda McMahon climbs out of it. Cole says that after this next match Linda will be coming out here to announce the Board of Directors' decision. = MATCH #7 = | WWF WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH The Dudley Boyz © vs. Chris Benoit & Chris Jericho | D'Von goes right to work on Jericho when Jericho fights back but D'Von regains control and stomps him down in a corner. D'Von whips Jericho into the opposite corner but Jericho comes out with a clothesline. Jericho hammers D'Von with chops then whips him and hits a knee to the chest as Benoit cheers him on from the apron. Jericho follows up with an armdrag then springs off the ropes with a dropkick. D'Von rolls out to the floor as Bubba comes in but Jericho hits a backdrop then dropkicks him out through the ropes as well. The Dudleys regroup on the floor when Benoit tags in and drops to the mat and Jericho launches off him over the ropes and hits a plancha. Jericho rolls D'Von back in the ring and Benoit slams him. Benoit then sets D'Von up while Jericho climbs to the top rope and the Chrises do the "Wassup" thing before Jericho hits the headbutt to the groin. Benoit takes over on D'Von and goes for a whip, D'Von reverses it but Benoit comes back with a snap suplex. Benoit goes for a another suplex but D'Von sets him on the top rope and Bubba throws him into a tree of woe. D'Von stomps away at Benoit before tagging Bubba in to take over and Bubba whips Benoit and hits a backdrop. Bubba walks over Benoit's face and slams him then tags D'Von in and the Dudleys whip Benoit hit a double flapjack. Bubba draws Jericho in to distract the referee while he helps D'Von with a double choke on the mat.
D'Von whips Benoit into a corner and goes for a splash but Benoit sidesteps it. D'Von backdrops Benoit over the ropes and Benoit ducks a clothesline from D'Von but runs into a boot from Bubba. Bubba decks Benoit on the floor then rolls him back in the ring and D'Von covers but Jericho makes the save. D'Von slams Benoit then hops to the middle rope but misses a legdrop. Both men crawl toward their corners and D'Von tags Bubba in but Jericho is able to get his tag from Benoit and comes off the ropes with a flying forearm. Jericho follows up with a clothesline then pops D'Von off the apron and nails Bubba with a spinning heelkick. Jericho whips Bubba into a corner then goes for the bulldog and misses it but takes Bubba down by the legs and goes for the Walls of Jericho. However D'Von comes back in but Jericho breaks the hold to clothesline him. Bubba is back up and goes for a whip but Benoit manages to make a blind tag while Jericho reverses it and hits a backdrop. Benoit climbs to the top rope and connects with the diving headbutt then covers as the referee counts 1..2..but D'Von barely makes the save. Jericho clotheslines D'Von over the ropes while Benoit plants Bubba with a German suplex then holds on and hits a second German suplex then holds on again and hits the third German suplex. Benoit starts for the ropes when Jericho tags himself in and Benoit doesn't seem to appreciate it. Benoit spins Jericho back around and the two start arguing when Bubba shoves Jericho into Benoit. Benoit goes tumbling over the ropes while the Dudleys plant Jericho with the 3D and get the pin. | Your Winners by pinfall and still Tag Team Champions: The Dudleys (8:39) |

The Dudleys grabs their belts and brag to Benoit and Jericho when suddenly they're jumped but Chuck Plaumbo & Sean O'Haire, who've somehow escaped from security! The WCW tag team champs beat down the WWF tag champs and Palumbo nails Bubba and then D'Von with Jungle Kicks. Palumbo and O'Haire then turn toward Benoit and Jericho .... and just walk away without any aggressive action toward them. Jericho and Benoit just watch the WCW guys leave, leaving everyone wondering what just happened. {BACKSTAGE}Linda McMahon is shown heading to the ring, as is Vince and Shane from different parts of the building. (COMMERCIAL BREAK){MAIN EVENT PROMO}The classic Wrestlemania theme heralds Linda's arrival as she makes her way to the ring to address the fans. Linda says the WWF Board of Directors has been deliberating on whether or not to allow Shane's WCW wrestlers to compete on WWF television then invites Shane and Vince to come out and hear the Board's decision in person. It doesn't take long for Vince to make his way to the ring, followed by Shane and Vince starts flattering his wife. Shane asks Linda if she's not going to fall for this but Linda says Vince is paying her a complement, since he remembers the last time the two of them were in the ring at Madison Square Garden, when he yelled at her demainding a divorce. Vince's expression changes to one of horror but Linda assures him that she won't ler her personal feelings get in the way of business. Linda says the Board met earlier tonight, deliberated, conisdered both your views, and held a vote. Linda announces that vote ended....in a tie! Vince doesn't understand, saying there should have been enough members to prevent a tie, but Linda says there's one member of the Board who didn't vote yet....and he's looking at her. Shane is grinning while Vince is now getting really nervous, remining Linda what she said about personal feeling not interfering with business. Linda says she's not about to, she just wants a way for them to sway her to vote for either side. Shane then suggests that Linda give her one match on Raw, where he'll have some of his WCW wrestlers face some of the WWF superstars in the ring and let them decide what happens. Vince asks Shane if he's really challenging some of the WWF superstars to a match against his WCW guys and Shane confirms it, saying if they win, then Vince will have to allow WCW matches on WWF television after Linda votes for us. Vince tells Shane he'll accept, on one condition, that when his WWF stars beats the WCW dregs, then Shane and WCW will never be allowed anywhere near a WWF event, wrestler, venue, that they are all out of my life forever. Shane accepts the terms, saying all they need is that one opening, that one chance to show that we can stand up to the WWF. Vince says it's settled, that Monday on Raw they'll have a 10-man tag team match, five WWF guys versus five WCW guys, and Linda will cast the deciding vote for whichever side wins. Linda agrees and praises both guys for working out their differences without trying to beat each other's brains in. Linda says she'll see both guys on Raw then departs the ring leaving Shane and Vince glaring at each other. Vince tells Shane to tell whomever he chooses to represent your company to enjoy the spotlight while they can, because it'll all be over when the WWF curshes his precious WCW. Shane says they'll see, then tells Vince to look behind him. Vince turns around just as Booker T flies in with a Harlem Sidekick! Vince is out while Booker and Shane stand over him and tell him that they'll see him on Raw. Kurt Angle then leads the WWF lockerroom out to the ring but Shane and Booker manage to escape into the crowd as the show fades to black.

Even though I haven't been replying to your diary, I will say that I have been reading all of your shows, and they're fantastic. The format is great. The writing is crisp and solid, as is the booking. The Invasion is a very special time to me, so I am very excited to see the direction that you will take with it, and have thus far. The opening to SmackDown was excellent. Everything from the WCW stars sitting in the front row, to Vince refusing to comply with Shane . And I rather like Linda's neutrality on the matter. Good opening contest with Dean Malenko getting the victory over the returning Scotty 2 Hotty. The WCW stars showing their approval for Malenko's win was a great touch, could influence him to defect to WCW at some point in the future. Always loved the segment with Angle and McMahon during this period. Angle singling out Lance Storm was fairly interesting, a match between them would be stellar at some point soon. Test going over Steven Richards is nothing too noteworthy. Basic filler match to give Test some momentum. Entertaining backstage segment to set up Spike Dudley and Eddie Guerrero's match later on tonight. Austin returning on RAW? Raisin' hell on WCW, I would assume. Good victory here for Edge and Christian over X-Pac and Albert. Love that you're going on with Christian basically declaring possession of the King of the Ring trophy. Interesting to see both duos eyeing the WCW talent. Aw, Billy Bitchcakes with another loss. Eh, Gunn wasn't anything too special during this period as "The One," so I'm fine with it. Good win for D'Lo, though. Enjoyed the two segments from the Acolytes and the Brothers of Destruction, addressing their match later on as well as WCW. PLEASE give a better outcome to the Undertaker/DDP feud. Seriously, I hated the payoff in real life since I was always a DDP mark as a kid. Good victory for Eddie Guerrero over Spike Dudley. The aftermath was interesting to say the least. Wonder where that's headed. Oh sh*t! BRAWL! Expected it to be 'Taker who would lose his cool. That entire segment sounded awesome. Eagerly anticipating the Board of Directors' decision regarding WCW. There's quite a lot of detail in your matches for television. Doesn't really bother me, though I can understand if others are indifferent. Great main event bout with the Dudley Boyz retaining the WWF Tag Team Championships. Caught off guard by Palumbo and O'Haire's involvement in the aftermath. Sparing Jericho and Benoit, though...I imagine it's just to create some dissension among them and the WWF roster. Holy crap, it's all up to Linda. Wow, what a compromise. A 10-man tag match on RAW is sure to be exciting, surprised you're not saving it for Invasion, though. Great chaotic finish with Angle and the rest of the roster chasing Booker T and Shane away. Overall, a fantastic edition of SmackDown. I can't praise this diary enough, it's amazing thus far.

WWF RAW is WAR: Monday 25th June 2001...Good way to kick off RAW with Vince McMahon addressing the goings on at King of the Ring and the mentioning of WCW really built this promo up. Nice utilisation of WWF New York - which I think needs more recognition in this diary, there used to be an unused worker up there every week with some sort of interview. Shane McMahon leaving his father on a cliffhanger ending sets up the main focus for this episode to be based around. Interested. Raven with a win against Val Venis, a weak opening contest though really. Val has no momentum, so there was really no point in having this match take place as the opener. I liked Chris Jericho being placed in the handicap match for tonight, William Regal was the ideal authority figure for him to run into as well, the two having previously having quite the feud. And so the Hardy Boyz are back to their own hijinks, eh. I still think Matt Hardy came off as a real d*ck with Eddie Guerrero, though. Was an interesting feud, though. Rhyno winning the WWF Hardcore Championship from Test was cool, this should have opened. Vince getting paranoid and locking down Madison Square Garden was nice, being locked into their own home. Kurt Angle's appearance here provided himself to be a symbol of what WCW has done to Angle, putting him out of action for tonight at least. Lita is the WWF Women's Champion? Damn, that belt needs to be defended more. I think this is Jacqueline's first appearance in the diary too, I hope you give her something good to do. Wow, the Undertaker isn't happy. I hope there's some follow up tonight on what happened with DDP, Chris Kanyon and Hugh Morrus tonight. Be nice to see you use Morrus properly, too. Up next, the King of the Ring coronation ceremony. I like the role changing of Christian in this scenario, I hope you make their rivalry much more interesting if that is the direction you're headed. Was disappointed that you stuck with Billy Gunn interrupting and setting up a match, but there's not a lot else you can do really, with Edge and Christian having a main feud on the go with Mike Awesome and Lance Storm (again, I hope you use Storm and Awesome correctly). The APA (they didn't go as the Acolytes anymore here) offered their input, and provided their part in a potential WCW/WWF brawl later tonight. Wow, X-Pac wins the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship. Good match, I think it was the time to get the title off of Jeff Hardy, he's ready for bigger things. I do think if you wanted to establish Albert better as the bodyguard role, he should have helped X-Pac win the gold. I like the touch of frustration on the part of the Dudley Boyz with William Regal. Further set up the handicap main event. Edge beating Billy Gunn was obvious, not a lot else to say here. A bit soon after the coronation ceremony maybe. Hmm, connected Vince McMahon segments; I do think they should've been spaced out better, as well. Stone Cold Steve Austin addressing the MSG crowd? Our main event promo, yep. Also, William Regal is EVERWHERE tonight, maybe reduce having him appear every five minutes. Chris Jericho beating the WWF Tag Team Champions was logical, I wonder where Chris Benoit's been most of the night. We have our title main event for SmackDown! on Thursday, but I think it's clear that the Dudleys will retain. And lastly, awesome final promo with Austin, and finally getting jumped by the WCW stars. Great WWF/WCW brawl to close the show, as this is the defining moment - both for your diary on this board - and for the diary to truly begin that "Invasion" stage. Great work on this show, a few little complaints but nevermind, I'm looking forward to the direction of this diary.
WWF SmackDown!: Thursday 28th June 2001...Vince McMahon opening the show two nights in the row. Rightfully so, with how RAW is WAR came to a close. Haha, the WCW stars with front row seats tonight, good angle for the night. Shane McMahon then confronting his father reflects last night, although things are different now. Why isn't Shane banned from the building as well, and taking a seat in the front row as well? Wow, you included the security guy in this? Nice touch. Ah, WCW wanting more television time on WWF programming? Nice place for Linda McMahon to come in! Avoid using Buff Bagwell, haha. Linda's going to get to New York before the end of SmackDown!? Hurry up, Linda. Shane's comment to Vince before the end of the promo basically set up our running theme for the night, surely the Undertaker or the APA or Stone Cold Steve Austin will have something to say to thee WCW stars. Wow, Dean Malenko! Good win for Malenko, but I think Scotty 2 Hotty should have won, I mean, he did return tonight after all. Not a lot of other things to say - I do hope that WCW's positive response to Malenko's win signals a defection for Malenko. It'd potentially save his drowning career. What happened to Malenko's team with Perry Saturn anyway? Kurt Angle's eagerness is very realistic. Angle mentioning Lance Storm easily sets up a potential dream match, but hopefully not too soon, and not shown on television. I don't think Vince would've mentioned the independent circuit though, not in 2001. Test beating Steven Richards was alright, nothing special though. Spike Dudley speaking to Molly Holly, I wondered where they went on RAW this week. Eddie Guerrero properly in heel mode now, alright. I see a WCW defection coming up for Eddie. It could bring him to the next level on the card if he was put on the WCW side of things. Also an enhancement on Spike and Molly's relationship is never bad. Hmm, I'm tied on having Edge and Christian beat X-Pac and Albert - on one hand, it levels Christian up for a shot at X-Pac's WWF Light Heavyweight Championship - but on the other, it makes X-Pac look bad having cheated to win the title, and then lose cleanly the very next night. Billy Kidman with his sights on X-Pac lines up a potential upcoming match. Billy Gunn's promo could give him some more personality, we'll see. Could put his career off of lifeline. I do think D-Lo Brown's interruption could've shown a little more personality, it gives me less reason to care about him killing Billy's buzz. D-Lo with the win? Some character development, I like it. Just a sidenote: the 'Rocker Dropper' is called the 'Fame Asser'. The APA's input again, almost the same as last night on RAW is WAR. They need to be in action more. Oh, they are, against the Brothers of Destruction? Weird, an invasion should take place. Eddie Guerrero beating Spike Dudley was expected, I wonder what's going on with him. Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit discussing the rumor openly is nice, at last. Benoit avoiding the defection question? Interesting...Hmm, the interference from the WCW stars was expected really, I'd have had this open the second hour of the show though, really. Just crammed right near the main event makes the booking look a little sloppy. WCW getting the better of the Undertaker, Kane, Bradshaw and Faarooq was a nice touch, my only complaint was that with this match promoted earlier on, it made things appear a lot more predictable. The inevitable happened. The Dudley Boyz retaining the WWF Tag Team Championships was expected, good match with Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho, though. I thought the WCW stars had been escorted out of the arena? Or were Chuck Palumbo and Sean O'Haire not amongst the front row rebels? I'm not sure how I feel about the Dudleys facing Palumbo and O'Haire though, who's the faces gonna be? The Dudleys have only been heels for the last month. I like the idea of Jericho or Benoit defecting being more clear but not overly obvious...I still have a feeling it will be Benoit jumping ships, though. And finally, good promo to close the show with the three McMahons. Wow, a ten man tag team match on RAW is WAR for WCW getting some TV time? Interesting, although I do think it'll just be the lead-up for ECW introducing themselves to the war. Overall, a decent edition of SmackDown! with high expectations for next week, a nice fallout from King of the Ring last week cleanly transitioning into the July pay-per-view and the WCW invasion. Although I am a little disheartened to see that no Kurt Angle and Stone Cold Steve Austin angles have taken place - could've used Angle a bit more tonight, too. And Austin didn't even show up, probably because of what happened. Oh well, I'm excited to see where you take things from here. Good work.

I have been semi following this and I've been impressed with what I've seen so far. This is a great time period to work with and from experience it's a lot of fun as there are so many things you can do. The opening segment was really well written, loved what you did with the McMahon's , the interactions between Shane, Vince and Linda were really well written. Loved the interactions between the WWF and WCW guys throughout the show building towards some future matches. I love the idea of an Angle/Storm match especially. I also loved what you did with Edge and Christian. The Chris Benoit/Chris Jericho interactions were interesting throughout the night, interested to see if it leads anywhere, I'm thinking Jericho will jump. Liked the Undertaker/DDP stuff and how it led to a brawl between the two sides. The tag title match was good, liked the Palumbo/O'Haire attack after the match. It seems like you're ending your shows with promos a lot, it's not a big deal as the stuff you have is good but it'd be nice if you had a "big time" match to close the show every now and then, though it seems you are doing that next Raw with the 10 man tag. The closing segment was really well written though. Really looking forward to next week.
Overall this is a really well booked and written diary, there's not a whole lot to complain about, though the match writing is a bit too small for my liking. You've got me excited to read more when you get into the real meat of the Invasion, keep it up.
