I was actually at this show and unfortunately saw this whole thing unfold live. It was a Smackdown/Heat taping. D-Lo was going for the running powerbomb and dropped Droz. Then IIRC, D-Lo lost his balance and fell (after dropping him) so all of his weight went on Droz too. I knew something was wrong the moment it happened. I remember D-Lo freaking out and Albert coming out to see what was happening. I remember being very uncomfortable sitting there hoping everything was okay as getting him strechered out and making sure everything was ok took upwards from 30 minutes to an hour. I didn't find out how bad Droz was hurt until the next day, but you kind of figured beacause he never moved. They cut the taping short and went right to the main event of Smackdown. If you watch that episode you will notice that some of the matches taped for Heat were aired as Smackdown matches. The one I remember specifically was Big Show v. Big Bossman. And for those that think some fans are disrespectful, you should have heard some of the things people were yelling at Droz and the paramedics when they were tending to him. Thanks for sharing this first hand account. Yes, some wrestling fans were pathetic during this era. I remember people heckling Bret when he was giving his in ring speech after Owen's death. Brain dead idiots. yeah that was atrocious too. ing idiots.

Everyone who has ever seen the "don't try this at home" segment on a WWE DVD has seen a second of footage from that night. The guy on a stretcher is Droz.

Yeah sorry guys, it was the move that pc83uk posted (running power bomb essentially) that was botched.
So essentially we have a first hand witness at the event from the crowd recalling what happened. Soin an attempt to lighten weight of the intense depression D'Lo went through, he partied himself half to death trying to forget about what happened because he KNEW he was (in most parts) to blame...but not because he said "it could've been anyone in the ring with him that night and it would've happened. I just had the misfortune of being the 1 in there" - well not true...the video pc83uk posted shows D'Lo halfway or at the end of a match with Val (obviously fatigued) who is similar build to Droz if not a little heavier...where he attempts to lift him and hasn't got the strength to complete the move and drops him (softly)...this was just a MONTH from the accident. Not surprised he wanted to quit the business until JR talked him out of it.
The fact that the WF witness (fansince93) saw it all and can recollect that D'Lo SLIPPED at the time he botched the move causing his weight to fall on Droz goes to show it intensified the injury...such a horrible story and horrible series of events in a shirt period of time. My opinion of D'Lo as a safe wrestler, slipping or not, is much lower than what it was before.
Thanks for the comments and the recollection from the night to provide more insight...I'm sure Droz would've had a bright future; he had plenty of talent/looks that Vince could have exploited him for...
