Just got Elite 17 and I'm not happy with Cenas new foot joint.
I know a lot of people are very happy with the new Cena and I am too. His new shorts and leg sculpts are great and makes Cena look a lot better. He certainly is one of the best of the set..........
But.....
With the new foot there's no more forward or backwards tilt making it really hard to stand him up and even when up he still eventually falls. I'm an expert at standing figures with the original kind of ankle joints even when quite loose but was still excited to see what Mattel come up with to try to sort out the loose ankles people are getting...but I really want Mattel to stop with these new feet. At least you could fix the old ones.
Basically I Hate the new lack of joint and will probebly need to put him on a stand (which I don't do with my modern era figs display). Even then Im not sure he'll stay up.
Please Mattel go back to the original joint....atleast till you figure something else out...
What do you guys/gals think?

I, too, have had foot issues with my E17 Cena. Part of me has wondered if I just got a bad figure, but the right foot is quite a bit off (it's at an angle, best way I can describe it, doesn't lie perfectly flat) and you can't really do anything about it. Seems to be a running theme with Cena figs I get, they can't stand up on their own, lol.

I can't stand the new foot. Mine has to be contorted before he can actually stand.

I'm surprised at this, because I firmly believe that almost ANYTHING was better than the original ankle joint. It's gonna be awhile before I see E17 though.

Do the feet swivel? If so you might be able to swap it out with the feet from an older figure.
Ironically, I have never had issues with the ankles on any of my Cena figures. Triple H on the other hand... I yet to find one with tight ankles.
I think Mattel needs to start making "ribbed" ankles to give it a gear like locking mechanism. I know that sounds weird but I have seen other figures with joints like this and it works.

Mine seems to be fine… just apply a little force and they will go back and forth. Relax, no articulation has been lost. He is a very nice figure overall.

Mine where really tight though but now I've seen your picture and had a good wiggle there fine and I must say a lot better than the previous ankle joints. May be advisable to heat them up before you move them as mine where real tight. Well Done Mattel and I apologise... Thanks a lot labeled101! I'm a lot happeier with the figure now.

awesome. that is EXACTLY what i wanted mattel to do with elite ankle joints. the biggest problem is the part that sticks out from the ankle into the boot...its so thin & weak. that looks so much better

well this is probably mattel's solution to his notoriously loose ankles in the past. I like it.

LOL that's hilarious. All I've been hearing is how the new Cenas ankles lost all articulation and it turns out they're beyyer than before.
Every time I see his new Shorts/Kneepad combo all I can think of is how sweet its gonna look on the Elite Lesnar!
