Hey everyone, I used to be a collector for many years. Had a collection of over 1500 figures, both loose and MOC. I originally signed up with WF in January 2002 and have been coming here ever since, so don't let the join date fool you, even though being classified as a "new member", really doesn't make all too much of a difference to me. Anyways, a little over a week ago, I noticed someone had posted an auction link to a MIB Star Toys Big Boss Man. That particular figure has been talked about quite a bit lately. I stopped collecting figures in 2007 but as a collector, I always recognized the rarity of the Star Toys Big Boss Man and always wanted one, but like many other people, it was next to IMPOSSIBLE to find. Until this past month, I was always under the impression that STOM, would be the only owner of such a figure. However, upon seeing the auction...I knew that I had to break my absence from collecting and that I had to own it. In my opinion, it's one of the rarest wrestling items in existence, bar none. In the end, I paid about $250 shipped from Germany to the US. It's been stuck in ISC New York (USPS) for a few days now but finally today, it reached my local sort facility which means, delivery will be expected tomorrow. I know there were some skeptics in the last thread that was posted so I'm really hoping that all goes well and that the item that's scheduled to be delivered tomorrow is as, was shown in the auction itself. I will keep you all updated and post pics of my receiving...unless you are all tired of hearing about this figure, lol.

Also...with the only 2 known examples existing thus far, neither have a nightstick accessory. Now I'm not 100% sure if the Big Boss Man was supposed to come with one but it will be interesting to find out, nonetheless. Although I'm thinking, it probably won't, as most of the budget would have gone into the actual clothing he is wearing. Either way, tomorrow should be fun.

I wouldn't touch it either. While you have good intentions about cleaning it, I think both keeping the orginal wrap on it keeps the value intact and also there may be more dust/dirt on the figure than you might imagine. Cleaning something as prominent as the nose may disturb this layer of dirt and force you to clean the entire figure. Not that cleaning it is bad, but it is a lot more work to do and then you might have to worry about getting something on the uniform, be it dirt/dust, or water.

Now I'm not sure if the spot on the noise is a smudge or paint, but I know water won't do the trick. If I were to use acetone lightly on the area, would this at all damage the figure?

Sorry but your Story is........... Man Man Man What? You saying my story isn't true? I'm not that other guy if that's what you're thinking...I don't even speak, German. Plus, over the years I made a lot of deals with people on here including STOM, the MOD of this board...I'm reputable on here and on eBay. As I already said, I've been with WF since January 2002...so honestly, I don't even know how to begin to dissect that quote of yours. But if I take it like I'm reading it, don't really appreciate you calling me out for no reason.

If you want to keep the value, don't remove the plastic, and don't try to clean the nose.
Acetone or other chemicals may damage the figure... without knowing the exact composition of the materials or having anything to practice on, the effects could be very unpredictable.
And even if the acetone does just take off the black mark, it will almost certainly leave the area with a slight difference in tone and finish to the rest of the figure, which may be noticeable even from a distance. Especially considering the age of the piece will mean the colors of the outermost plastic will probably be faded slightly.
I'd say this kinda thing really is too rare to attempt any kind of restoration unless it's done by a reputable and experienced professional. And even then I'd still lean towards not having it done, if it were me.

Update: Well, I decided to take the safest risk possible and used a toothbrush with a bit of water on the end of it and hoped for the best... .... ... .... Here are the results....I think it did the trick!

Holy Cats! That is an AWESOME figure! I never knew this existed! If I had this, I would HAVE to open it just so he could rampage over the smaller Hasbro figures. $250 is a good price for something this rare still with the box. Very great addition to a wrestling collection! Congrats!

congrats on managing to clean the nose, but how did you do it without removing the plastic?
i didn't think water would have been enough to shift the mark but i'm happy it worked for you.

congrats on managing to clean the nose, but how did you do it without removing the plastic? i didn't think water would have been enough to shift the mark but i'm happy it worked for you. The hole on the one side of the plastic was just big enough that I could reach in and clean up the area on the nose, without further damaging the plastic or the figure itself.
