Hey I just wanted to say that I think brets new pink rubber jacket looks pretty good. to me it matches brets style, he never wore anything baggy and this jacket just reminds me of him walking to the ring right before ripping it open to do his signature pose ;D. when you look at the jacket it is clean and a nice tight fit.
now with that being said, I really don't want to see any more rubber clothes!! I have already bought well over 100 mattel figs and most of them have cloth shirts, so it is a bit weird to start adding these rubber shirts to my collection. i could be more with the switch if it happened back around series 3 or 4, but i just feel like it is too late for this switch. and to top it all off I just really don't like the rubber shirts. i have no jakks in my collection and love how all my figs go together and this just kinda throws it all off....
anyone else feel this way??

Quite honestly, I avoid all the figures with rubber shirts. The pink attire Bret (without the jacket) looks awesome. But the jacket puts me off. Just like how The Rock's rubber tee in Elite 14 is putting me off.
I don't want to see any more rubber clothes either. And I still don't get why Mattel couldn't make the same material for The Rock's pants in E14 and his shirt. I am one who is very against rubber shirts. Dust clings on it very very easily.
So yea, i hate it because it doesn't look good, and it doesn't mix well with the rest of my cloth shirts.

I have no idea what the costs are, but I imagine it's much easier AND cheaper to mold plastic and paint it than it is to cut fabric and sew it. I do know that plastic is much cheaper than cloth nowadays (a lot of Wal-Marts are closing or consolidating their fabric sections because of it.)
With that being said, it's probably more expensive to use fabric or cloth than plastic. So if you want fabric then you will have to pay for it. The cost of shipping raw materials, regardless of what they are, has gone up. So prices have gone up. I think Mattel made the decision to switch to plastic because it doesn't stain figures (unlike their previous cheap cloth), it's easier to mold than fabricate, and it's cheaper.
If you want cloth then you'll have to pay more, because there's no way Mattel's taking the hit for us. Of course there is a third option: they could just scrap accessories altogether.

I'm not a huge fan of fabric clothing on action figures, but t-shirts are OK sometimes.
That said, Bret's jacket just needs to be rubber. All of the little details would be way out of scale if they tried to do them in fabric. The same goes for other robes/jackets like Regal, Goldust, Edge, and Finlay - they'd look worse in fabric. I think that all in all, Mattel is pretty good about choosing what materials to use on accessories.

Here I was thinking you were about to say you didn't want to see any more Bret's.

www.spam.com/product_info.php/pName/bret-hitman-hart-mattel-pink-jacket/osCsid/934cecdaca7b85eaa7b0b51a0a65050dIt's a money saving thing with Mattel. The rubber jackets and coats suck when it comes to mobility but the detail on them looks great. If you display like I do, it isn't a super huge deal because you are not really moving them around anyway. However, it does suck that you can't pose guys with coats on. I think I have Taker, Miz and Edge all with the rubber coats. I can honestly say I would love cloth on all shirts and coats, but it's not realistic for Mattel to so do that without charging us even more, which I think most of us are already annoyed at the price increases.

I've really liked all the rubber clothes so far, but Bret's just doesn't look right to me.

I HATE rubber shirts so I don't buy figures that come with them, and if I do I must really want the figure.

Those sleeves on the Ralphs jacket are too long. If you bring Bret's arms out to the side it will look better, but this pic looks like a boy trying on his dad's clothes.

Rubber shirts usually equal me spending more money to get the right stuff from ralphs. I love the look of the Bret jacket but what really sucks is it limits poses u can put them in. Idk about you guys but I don't just line up my figs in a mug shot. I like to put them in their signature poses and with that damn rubber jacket I can't do that. Same goes with any rubber shirt, or coat. Mattel needs to stop with the rubber and give us either cloth accessories or nothing at all and a lower price point.

i could see how they want to cut cost, but i just think i'd rather pay a dollar or two more (i know that means about 20 retail for elites) instead of having to turn to ralph all the time...although i do LOVE ralphs work!!
but like a few people on here said there are certain times when it is a great ideas to use rubber, I'm just saying i hope it isn't going to be the norm.

Mattel needs to stop with the rubber and give us either cloth accessories or nothing at all and a lower price point. hey this works too, cause at lets say $12 retail for elites, i wouldn't mind going to ralph and get exactly what i want for each figure.

I think the plastic jackets have been great with everyone they gave them to. Elite Taker Elite Edge Elite Finlay and now this Bret
I don't think fabric would have worked as well on any of those jackets.

rubber or stained figures, take your pick. Actually the fabric used on the RTWM 27 Rock and Elite 12 Gabriel didn't stain.

Wait so they told us they were using rubber to cut costs yet as soon as they started using rubber for shirts prices went up. Same with stands, they took them away to cut prices but prices went up when they took them away, ironic.
