Seeing as the other is glitching now, thought it be fitting
So i'll start.
I want a nostalgic team. I know Charizard and Pikachu are obvious, may get a pidgeotto/pidgeot and maybe a Bulbasaud/Squirtle. Opinions?

Rules for Stories
Here's how it's going down. For the sake of nostalgia, we're all going to be starting out in the Kanto region, which means we'll all start out our journey from Pallet town. You will start out by picking your starter Pokémon. It does NOT have to be one of Kanto's starters, nor does it even have to be a starter at all. It just has to be a basic form, so you can pick Meowth, but not Persian. You can pick Tyrogue, but not Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee or Hitmontop.
Once you start out on your journey, you will have a rival of your own creation. How you introduce them, and what they are is up to you. If you want them to be a friend who challenges you now and then, that's fine. If you want them to be the master thief like a couple of them, you can. It's whatever you want. The only catch is, you must have their first Pokémon be the direct opposite to yours. If you pick a water, they much have a grass or electric. If you pick a bug, they must be fire or flying (I think you guys get the idea.)
How you progress from there is entirely your call. You must follow the general guideline of Kanto, so you can't go challenge the 5th gym leader first or anything...but everything else is up to you. Try to keep it semi-realistic when you're writing your battles and post battles. Don't have your Charmander evolve into Charmeleon after its first battle, against a Caterpie. Progress naturally, you know?
As for your story/sub-plots, that's all up to you. If you want to write a story where you're directly involved in foiling Team Rocket, Magma, Aqua...any of them...or even you own custom creation, that's fine. If you don't that's fine too. Use full advantage of Officer Jenny, Nurse Joy, Bill and any other characters that have appeared and custom created ones also.
If you want companions to come with you, go for it. If you want to take one of the gym leaders with you as is the case with Lucian, Brock and Misty in previous series, go for it. It's your story...do it as you see fit. If you want to do Poké challenges, like the competitions they threw into the games and series, go for it.
Gym Leaders. Throughout the writings, you'll have to fight a total of eight gym leaders. Seven of your fellow WF mates and one person of your own creation. It was pretty much agreed upon that I'd throw the names in the randomizer and however they came out would be the list of what numbered leader everyone is to keep SOME consistancy within everyones stories. The gyms will be as noted, as this is how they came out of the randomizer:
1. Angus, You'll be burned alive, 2 pokemon
2. iMMi, He will shock you, 3 pokemon
3. Diego, He'll deliver unto you some psychic fury, 3 pokemon
4. Silva, These plants are sharper than they appear, 3 pokemon
5. James, Feel the wrath of his normalcy, 4 pokemon
6. LLLBD, He's buggin' out for a reason, 4 pokemon
7. Honkey, He'll leave you scared to your core, 5 pokemon
8. Jack, He'll drown you with his skill, 6 pokemon
Obviously since you'll be writing a diary as yourself, you won't be a gym leader in your story. So, wherever your name appears...that's where the custom leader must appear. They can be any type you want them to be. If you're a late joiner, then you just use the eight listed. Another thing, you choose what Pokemon each person has. You just have to keep to the type. Like Silva, he's grass. You can have him have a Syther in your story, but in mine, I can have him have a Roserade. It's all up to you.
After that, it's all up to you. How you progress, who you beat, how many times you lose, what Pokemon you catch, use etcetera.
