Now I know in the NJ/NY area, the LJN 89 black cards were impossible to come accross in regular stores. How about the Hasbro green cards?? I had to get mine in a comic book store in Long Island in the fall of 94. The same comic book store featured in wwf magazine in 1995. My question is what regular stores were the green cards ever found in???

Ames dept. stores was the main chain that carried them. The only other way to get them was to have an account with Hasbro. That is how I bought mine, as I worked at a collectibles store at the time.

The only place I ever saw them was at Hill's, and from what I've heard, that is where the majority of collectors found them.
Hills was eventually bought out by Ames, as Hasbromaniac mentioned.

I'll never forget the day that (as a young kid) I called all of the hills stores in the Buffalo area and one of them had a fresh case of the green carded figures. A friend and I went and got one of each as a kind employee opened the box for us ... I tried to grab another 1-2-3 kid but the employee said, "don't get greedy," hahaha. My dad found the green carded figs at another hills a week or two later and picked up a few 1-2-3 kids and shawn michaels'. They weren't on the shelves very long, I definitely remember that. Good memories, though!

Like everyone has said, they were pretty scarce compared to all the other series. I actually had to get them at a specialty store after scouring my normal spots. Had I known about Ames Dept. store, I could have saved myself the headache. Toys R Us, Bradlees, and Kay-Bee had every other series available. It's funny, I can look at a figure and recall exactly when and where I bought it, even though its been nearly 20 years. Good times

Hills was the absolute best when it came to wrestling figures. like I said, that's where I got the green card figures, and half of the red card set (got there a little too late unfortunately). all of the blue cards, there, too. only problem was they used to fly off the shelves. (used to get starting lineups there, also). KB was awesome when there was a few months of shipments of the older european carded figures (from the earlier series) and they had them for $3 each ... I remember buying like 10 at once and it was only $30 - and considering I was probably 10 years old at the time, that was a big deal for me (and my dad, who purchased them, lol)... but hills was still the best. I didn't like ames as much, even after they bought out hills.
Wish hills was around these days, though - would be huge for the new mattel figures, I would imagine.
And perfectplex, I can remember when I got nearly all of my figures too - it's so cool how many great memories can be stirred up like that!

I bought my Green-Card figures in a Toys 'R' Us Store here in Austria. I believe they were pretty common here.
