Birmingham City have set up the permanent signing of Mido after agreeing a £6million fee with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Egypt international revealed earlier in the week that he was close to moving to St Andrews after falling out of favour at White Hart Lane.
Mido had claimed he would be joining Blues on a season-long loan, with a view to a £5million switch next summer.
But Blues have now confirmed their intention to sign the striker on a permanent basis immediately, with a £6m figure agreed.
The former Ajax and Roma forward will now head to the Midlands to discuss personal terms with Steve Bruce's side.
Bruce had been chasing a big-name signing and expressed his confidence that he would be able to tame the temperamental Mido.
Birmingham have also been trying to thrash out a deal to bring in Mido's Spurs team-mate, and fellow Egyptian, Hossam Ghaly.
Proper quality signing for Brum, With DJ Campbell in talks with watford, I always rated mido as a player and he is just what birmingham need imo, He will play as James Beattie once did with ISouthampton or Andrew Johnson with Crystal Palace

They've got a good player, but i feel as if Steve Bruce rushed into this signing just to prove he can sign big players, £6.1m is too much for Mido, they could have got him for around £4. But on the other hand he is a good player.

whats wrong with the transfer market, 16.5 mil for Bent That transfer was ing rediculous, he has one good season so Spurs go and buy him for £16.5m, far too over-priced. Around £8m would have suited Bent.

I'd say half that amount would be acceptable for Mido, he's a good player by Birmingham's standards but not worth £6 million.

Mido can only be a good player for us, unfortunately the ever rising transfer fees make us pay 2-3m over but I think he's a good player with something to prove.

£6.1m is too much for Mido, they could have got him for around £4. That would have been the biggest bargain ever.
