Tom, how does the guitar hold up from HTM. Does it stay together pretty well?

Nice figures. Already ordered AJ & Ryback. Thinking about HTM too.

Ok here's my honest thoughts after seeing this video.
Wow, way to phone it in Mattel.
They know the public wants the AJ so they put as minimal to no effort into the figure, hence why you only get a necklace.
Orton will be a peg warmer for sure, prob see it in stores till this time next year.
Rey will prob warm pegs as well and just like Orton Mattel only gave the customer a tshirt. Wow, a whole tshirt.
Alberto looks good but im not a fan of the magazine or the scarves. Still though I guess it's better than a tshirt or just a necklace.
Ryback looks good. And im amazed. Mattel knew the public wanted this figure so they really came through giving the customer a good looking figure, and accessories. The dumb bells look great. And they still packed in a tshirt, im impressed by this one. This figure looks like it's an actual Elite.
Honky Tonk Man looks nice but im disappointed. Honky Tonk Man is the longest reigning InterContinental Champion in wwf/wwe history. So it's inexcusable to not include an IC title with the figure. Mattel did a nice job with the break away guitar, at least it looks like it, but the IC title missing is just pathetic. Jakks had a price point of less than half what Mattel costs retail, yet Mattel did less accessories? This was a chance to outshine Jakks and Mattel failed.
Im disappointed that Cena, Orton, Bigshow, and Rey(to a lesser extent) are the biggest Peg Warmers and yet this wave has two of them in it. Are there no other people on the roster?
The accessories really disapoint me. There is no consistancy. One figure comes with 3 items and the other comes with 1 item, a necklace (prob the lamest of all accesories). It reminds me of the scene in Casino when Deniro is mad that one muffin has tons of blueberrys while the other has no blueberrys.
Again, these are just my thoughts.

Set looks very good. Mattel, particularly from Elite set 19 I feel have really stepped up the quality of figures. I think now seeing the guitar is breakable (which is genius btw) I'll buy all but AJ & that's because I hate her character but her attire is amazingly done (don't think Mattel need to try & market that she comes with a necklace tho)

You can't compare toy costs from 6 years ago to toy costs now. Mattel goes for quality over quantity. The guitar coming in several pieces makes it count as 5 or so different accessories. Each piece has to be individually tooled and sculpted. Most of us already have two classic IC titles anyway (3 if you count Christian).

Tom, how does the guitar hold up from HTM. Does it stay together pretty well? That, of course, ended up being one of the most frustrating things. I couldn't get the thing to stay together while trying to pose without shattering it and then when I actually wanted to smash it over Lawler's head, the entire thing stays together. It's very well built and can break away very easily, I just think in my rush to get it done I couldn't get the hang of it.

Each piece has to be individually tooled and sculpted. Most of us already have two classic IC titles anyway (3 if you count Christian). Oh wow, where to start. Yes Jakks still makes toys, not that it matters in this case. I was only stating that Jakks did a better job, IMO, with making a Honky Tonk Man figure. Say what you will about Jakks the fact is they gave us a figure with a jump suit and a guitar AND an IC title belt. So if the bar has been set your goals as a company should be to out do the previous company, or at the very least match it. Mattel was smart though, they are too cheap to give us an IC title + Guitar + Jumpsuit so they just gave us two of the three but they made the guitar breakable. It's neat that they made the guitar breakable but im not falling for it, you still only did 2 accessories instead of 3. And yes I can compare costs. It Costs mattel money to make figures and accessories, I understand. And sure, material costs, production costs, shipping costs, all of those costs may have gone up since then....... not likely though. But you fail to understand it will also now cost me/us as well. So if it COSTS me I have every right to compare costs. I really dont want to make this a Jakks vs Mattel thing. But look at the facts. Mattel is a bigger company than Jakks. Therefore they get a bigger discount on everything. Beleive me, im a trucker I look at invoices of goods I transport, bigger companys ALWAYS get lower prices/better deals then smaller companys because they buy in larger quantitys. So I feel pretty confident in thinking that Mattel makes figures today for less money than Jakks did a few years ago. Just pick up a Jakks figure and then a Mattel Figure. Chances are that Jakks figure is much larger than the Mattel. So with that bigger size comes a bigger material cost. And since it's a bigger heavier figure you end up paying extra shipping to send those bigger figures. It's all just a matter of Mattel wanting to make more money. Dont kid yourself by saying Mattel is about Quantity over Quality, Mattel is really about making that money. So if they make more money by giving you 2 accesories instead of three you better beleive you'll only get two accesories. Or even worse.... a necklace.

I usually call MDT on their crap but honestly I feel you're greatly biased towards Jakks Milincoln. I'm sorry but the argument that you CAN compare costs from six years ago really doesn't hold any water. I'm not defending Mattel's price point but if you even consider inflation alone (and disregard any talk about plastic/petroleum being more expensive these days) you can't fairly compare the cost of anything today to what it was SIX YEARS AGO!
Let's see, your Jakks HTM was a glorified peg warmer, the I-C belt was out-of-scale, the guitar didn't break and face it, Hasbro's Honky Tonk Man had more sculpted details than either Jakks or Mattel.
I get your bi*tch*ing over the AJ Lee that they completely phoned-in, plaid or no plaid paint application, but the HTM comparison is just unjust and untrue - they put effort into this elite.

Not only is he comparing costs from a few years ago, but Mattel doesn't only paint the front of a figure. They get the details of the back of a figure as well...so that also needs to be added into the production cost of a series. Plus the HTM with all those accessories was in the regular CS line so that was more of a basic styled figure. The CSDA didn't have a jumpsuit but has the POA of an Elite...so that should be the figure it was compared to. And CSDA were $15 and change by the time HTM was releases.

i really thought that E21 was pretty stacked as far as "detailed" series' go.
Ryback-incredibly detailed attire, the back design just as detailed as the front half. the gloves are even fully detailed with the little metal studs painted on. included is another incredibly detailed shirt AND a set of dumbells.
Rey-we get a two tone rey with metallic paint apps, detailed colored shirt. i have not even considered buying a rey figure, but i really like this one.
AJ-two bracelets, necklace and a super detailed plaid attire and fully detailed boots. i am not a diva collector, but it is a damn good looking figure.
HTM-get that BADASS breakaway guitar, fabric jumpsuit. im kinda feeling like the older collectors will only be picking this up. when he was on raw a few weeks ago, idk, it seemed like he got little to no reaction at all.
ADR-looks great actually. i like the new headscan and black attire. two rubber scarves is a great accessory, the magazine-not so much.
orton-lame figure. it looks like orton took the least amount of effort. jet black tattoos and how bland are the trunk designs?! stone grey? i cant believe orton got a cloth shirt-wasting valuable series budget money.
but yeah, overall i think the figures in this series are REALLY detailed and looking good.

Actually I like the Orton quite a bit. After HTM it's my favorite in the set. As for his trunks that's the color he's been wearing for months now. And is the attire in wwe13. And I have to say it is my favorite color combo he's worn since going to black trunks. And as for accessories other than a shirt what could they give him? He hasn't held a title in ages. And it's better then the e4 Jericho mic. And let me say this...as much as I hate Ryback his figure looks great.
