Whoever buys that should wrap both hands around their throat and squeeze while holding their head in a bucket of water.

I saw that the other day and was in shock. I couldn't believe the price....since its totally destroyed.
It looks somewhat nice in a the pictures were he has pieced it back together, but really its a leather belt with a bag of smashed plates.
I would probably cry when I opened the parcel box and pulled out my $10,000 plain leather belt with coroded snaps and then reached in to pull out the two ziploc bags of broken plates.

I don't think it's legit honestly. Something about it looks very fake, like someone gave it a worn out look.

Um...I thought that title was used to make the Hardcore title that was given to Mankind? Wouldn't WWE still possess that? I think it's fake.

It looks cool enough and has great history but Id rather keep my 10k.. true, considering that for $2600 you can get a REAL winged eagle made by Reggie Parks from spam......i mean granted it's never been on TV or touched by Hogan or Hennig....but why drop that much coin for a smashed belt? If I'm wasting that much money I want a belt thats in perfect condition.

If it was in a private collection for all these years wouldn`t it have been taken better care of? I mean dusty strap, corroded and rusted buttons? I think it`s a fake! I don`t see WWF just leaving it lying around for backstage staff or anyone for that matter to just pick up and take home, I`m sure Vince knew the historical value of this belt when he made the plan to smash it on T.V., since they had the plan to make the hardcore title out of it. If it wasn`t used for the hardcore title, then I`m sure Vince has the real belt in his vault with the rest of the real title belts!!

If it wasn`t used for the hardcore title, then I`m sure Vince has the real belt in his vault with the rest of the real title belts!! From promo shots of other wrestlers with the Winged Eagle (Bret and Yokozuna come to mind), you could see that Vince could truly care less about the belts. Those straps are just as cherished by those guys as steel chairs, metal trash cans, and Spanish commentator tables. Also, there's only so much care you can give to a destroyed wrestling belt. Mel Philips, because of his position, once had a huge collection of used WWF memorabilia, inlcuding ring attire, belts, even a complete WWF ring frame that was also posted on eBay a year or two ago. The person selling it is an avid, well-known and highly respected wrestling belt collector and has owned an actual WWF Winged Eagle belt (all in one piece) in the past. Trust me, this belt is completely legit and he is definitely not letting a piece of WWF/E history go for a cheap price, no matter how destroyed it is. Also, this belt was NEVER used or was ever planned on being used as the Hardcore Title. WWF just took a spare Winged Eagle, smashed it up a bit (a lot less damage than the Mr. Perfect belt), splashed some paint and tape, and, TA-DA, there's the Hardcore Championship.

The belt is 100% authentic. I think the auction and the fact both Reggie Parks and Dave Millican confirmed its authenticity should be enough.
This is the condition I received the belt from Mel in. I have numerous other belts including ring used, it just so happened that when I got this belt from Mel, the snaps were already rusted.
I have sold and seen other ring used belts sell for 2-3x my asking price. It isn't for everyone. There are only a handful of people who fully understand the value and historic value of this belt. If it does not sell, I have no problems continuing to keep it.
If anyone still doubts it's authenticity, I really don't know what else to tell you. I will answer whatever questions you have though.

If it wasn`t used for the hardcore title, then I`m sure Vince has the real belt in his vault with the rest of the real title belts!! Belts are worthless to Vince and seen as meerely props to him. Between 1988 and 1998, they used over 30 Winged Eagle belts. Only about 12 that were ring used are still owned by wrestlers, there are a few out there owned by private collectors, and shocking to some of you, many belts from the 80's and early 90's were destroyed and thrown out after a new belt was used. Mel was able to take this belt because otherwise it would have just been thrown in the trash. There was never any future thinking to turn it into the hardcore title. THe hardcore title was a BRAND NEW belt that was purposely destroyed for the angle. Look at pics of the hardcore belt, compare it to pics of my belt and pics of the belt destroyed on SNME. My belt matches that SNME belt exactly because it is the same belt. The Hardcore title was broken differently in ways that are impossible when looking at the SNME belt. The only belt in Vince's vault is the Million Dollar Belt, and that is because it has 3 real diamonds in the back of it.
